Lipotoxic hepatocyte-derived exosomal miR-1297 promotes hepatic stellate cell activation through the PTEN signaling pathway in metabolic-associated fatty liver disease

Nomogram for predicting the prognosis of tumor patients with sepsis after gastrointestinal surgery

BACKGROUND There were few studies on the prognosis of tumor patients with sepsis after gastrointestinal surgery and there was no relevant nomogram for predicting the prognosis of these *** To establish a nomogram for predicting the prognosis of tumor patients with sepsis after gastrointestinal surgery in the intensive care unit(ICU).METHODS A total of 303 septic patients after gastrointestinal tumor surgery admitted to the ICU at Peking University Cancer Hospital from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2020 were analysed retrospectively. The model for predicting the prognosis of septic patients was established by the R software *** The most common infection site of sepsis after gastrointestinal surgery in the ICU was abdominal infection. The 90-d all-cause mortality rate was 10.2% in our study group. In multiple analyses, we found that there were statistically significant differences in tumor type, septic shock, the number of lymphocytes after ICU admission, serum creatinine and total operation times among tumor patients with sepsis after gastrointestinal surgery(P < 0.05). These five variables could be used to establish a nomogram for predicting the prognosis of these septic patients. The nomogram was verified, and the initial C-index was 0.861. After 1000 internal validations of the model, the C-index was 0.876, and the discrimination was good. The correction curve indicated that the actual value was in good agreement with the predicted *** The nomogram based on these five factors(tumor type, septic shock, number of lymphocytes, serum creatinine, and total operation times) could accurately predict the prognosis of tumor patients with sepsis after gastrointestinal surgery.

Effect of sintering temperature on the microstructure and properties of foamed glass-ceramics prepared from high-titanium blast furnace slag and waste glass

Foamed glass-ceramics were prepared via a single-step sintering method using high-titanium blast furnace slag and waste glass as the main raw materials The influence of sintering temperature(900–1060℃) on the microstructure and properties of foamed glass-ceramics was studied. The results show that the crystal shape changed from grainy to rod-shaped and finally turned to multiple shapes as the sintering temperature was increased from 900 to 1060℃. With increasing sintering temperature, the average pore size of the foamed glass-ceramics increased and subsequently decreased. By contrast, the compressive strength and the bulk density decreased and subsequently increased. An excessively high temperature, however, induced the coalescence of pores and decreased the compressive strength. The optimal properties, including the highest compressive strength(16.64 MPa) among the investigated samples and a relatively low bulk density(0.83 g/cm^3), were attained in the case of the foamed glass-ceramics sintered at 1000℃.

β-Phase Crystallization of Poly(vinylidene fluoride) in Poly(vinylidene fluoride)/Poly(ethyl methacrylate) Blends

The nature of the crystalline phase of poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF) in compatible blends with poly(ethyl methacrylate)(PEMA) was investigated by using X-ray diffraction(XRD), infrared microscopy(IR) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The βphase of PVDF was observed after quenching from the melt and further annealing above the glass transition temperature over a composition range. The PVDF/PEMA blend with weight ratio of 3:2 has formed higher content of PVDF β crystals than others. By taking advantage of fast cooling rate of ultrafast differential scanning calorimeter(UFDSC), the quenching process of blends was modeled and tested simultaneously, and the melting behavior of β crystals in all blends was investigated. Three types of crystallization behavior of βphase PVDF in blends were found after quenching-annealing at different temperatures.

Reliable calculations of nuclear binding energies by the Gaussian process of machine learning

Reliable calculations of nuclear binding energies are crucial for advancing the research of nuclear physics. Machine learning provides an innovative approach to exploring complex physical problems. In this study, the nuclear binding energies are modeled directly using a machine-learning method called the Gaussian process. First, the binding energies for 2238 nuclei with Z > 20 and N > 20 are calculated using the Gaussian process in a physically motivated feature space, yielding an average deviation of 0.046 MeV and a standard deviation of 0.066 MeV. The results show the good learning ability of the Gaussian process in the studies of binding energies. Then, the predictive power of the Gaussian process is studied by calculating the binding energies for 108 nuclei newly included in AME2020. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental data, reflecting the good predictive power of the Gaussian process. Moreover, the α-decay energies for 1169 nuclei with 50 ≤ Z ≤ 110 are derived from the theoretical binding energies calculated using the Gaussian process. The average deviation and the standard deviation are, respectively, 0.047 MeV and 0.070 MeV. Noticeably, the calculated α-decay energies for the two new isotopes ^ (204 )Ac(Huang et al. Phys Lett B 834, 137484(2022)) and ^ (207) Th(Yang et al. Phys Rev C 105, L051302(2022)) agree well with the latest experimental data. These results demonstrate that the Gaussian process is reliable for the calculations of nuclear binding energies. Finally, the α-decay properties of some unknown actinide nuclei are predicted using the Gaussian process. The predicted results can be useful guides for future research on binding energies and α-decay properties.

Metal nanoparticles decorated CoFe-(oxy)hydroxysulfides nanosheets fabricated by a general strategy for electrocatalytic water splitting

A systematic study on the wettability and interactions between superalloy melts with various Re contents and Al2 O3-based ceramic moulds was presented in this *** was found that the increase of Re content inhibited the interfacial reactions to some *** regard to the 0,1.5 and 3 Re alloys,a double reaction layer containing Al2 O3 and HfO2 was formed at the interface,but the thickness of reaction layer decreased with the increase of Re ***,only Al2 O3 phase was detected at the interface when the content of Re was 6 wt%,and the interface reaction was the weakest and the thickness of reaction layer was the *** wetting angle of the alloy/ceramic system increased as the level of Re ***,the formation of viscous sand at the interface mainly depended on the change of wetting angle of the system.

Multi boron-doping effects in hard carbon toward enhanced sodium ion storage

Hard carbon （HC） has been considered as promising anode material for sodium-ion batteries （SIBs）.The optimization of hard carbon’s microstructure and solid electrolyte interface （SEI） property are demonstrated effective in enhancing the Na+storage capability,however,a one-step regulation strategy to achieve simultaneous multi-scale structures optimization is highly ***,we have systematically investigated the effects of boron doping on hard carbon’s microstructure and interface chemistry.A variety of structure characterizations show that appropriate amount of boron doping can increase the size of closed pores via rearrangement of carbon layers with improved graphitization degree,which provides more Na+storage ***-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy/electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （FTIR/EIS） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） analysis demonstrate the presence of more BC3and less B–C–O structures that result in enhanced ion diffusion kinetics and the formation of inorganic rich and robust SEI,which leads to facilitated charge transfer and excellent rate *** a result,the hard carbon anode with optimized boron doping content exhibits enhanced rate and cycling *** general,this work unravels the critical role of boron doping in optimizing the pore structure,interface chemistry and diffusion kinetics of hard carbon,which enables rational design of sodium-ion battery anode with enhanced Na+storage performance.
