OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal medicine in treating sepsis patients with bloodstream ***:A 6-year retrospective study was carried out at a university hospital in *** sepsis patients with bloodstream infection were *** primary outcome was 28-day mortality after *** score method was used to adjust for possible confounding.28-day mortality was estimated by KaplanMeier analysis and compared using the log-rank *** regression analysis was carried out to identify factors impacting in-hospital mortality ***:Following the application of the propensity score method,a total of 176 patients were *** all-cause 28-day mortality in the control group and Chinese herbal medicine group was 21.6%and 14.8%,***-Meier survival analysis showed that Chinese herbal medicine was associated with a lower hazard ratio(HR)in all-cause 28-day death compared with the control group[HR=0.44,95%CI(0.22,0.90),Plications were similar between the two groups(P>0.05).Blood-activating and stasis-eliminating herb administration was associated with reduced inhospital mortality among sepsis patients with bloodstream infection[HR=0.54,95%CI(0.34,0.94),Pliminating herb,might have certain efficacy and safety in treating sepsis patients with bloodstream *** should prescribe blood-activating and stasis-eliminating herb in treating these two coalescent critical diseases as long as no contraindications ***,further studies are needed to validate our results.

The design of an excellent active catalyst to improve the sluggish kinetic and thermodynamic properties of magnesium hydride(MgH_(2))remains a great challenge to achieve its practical *** this study,a novel Ni-Nb/rGO nanocomposite catalyst was successfully prepared by one-spot hydrothermal and sub-sequent calcination *** novel Ni-Nb/rGO nanocomposite exhibits an exceptional catalytic effect on improving MgH_(2) sorption ***,the onset desorption temperature of MgH_(2)+10 wt%Ni-Nb/rGO composite is reduced to 198℃,much lower than that of undoped MgH_(2)(330℃).In-terestingly,the composite can release 5.0,5.9,and 6.0 wt%H_(2) within 10 min at 245,260,and 275℃,***,the dehydrogenated MgH_(2)+10 wt%Ni-Nb/rGO composite starts to absorb hydrogen even at room temperature with approximate 2.75 wt%H_(2) uptake at 75℃under 3 MPa H_(2) pressure within 30 min and exhibits excellent stability by maintaining 6.0 wt%hydrogen content after 20 cycles at 300℃.Chou’s model suggests that the de/hydrogenation kinetics of Ni-Nb/rGO-modified MgH_(2) switches from surface penetration model to diffusion model at lower ***,the ac-tivation energies(E a)for the de/hydrogenation of MgH_(2)+10 wt%Ni-Nb/rGO are reduced to 57.8 kJ/mol and 33.9 kJ/mol,which are significantly lower than those of undoped MgH_(2).The work demonstrates that the addition of a novel ternary Ni-Nb/rGO catalyst is an effective strategy to not only boost the sorption kinetics of MgH_(2) but also maintain its cycling property.

For the purpose of solving the problem that too large pole tip recession （PTR） is produced in magnetic rigid disk heads by mechanical polishing, a chemical mechanical nano-grinding experiment is performed by using a float-piece polisher with a tin plate to achieve a more plane and smoother surface. A basal solution, addition agents and a range of pH value are suitably selected to find a kind of slurry, with which the PTR can be controlled on sub-nanometer scale and the giant magnetic resistance （GMR） corrosion and electrostatic damage （ESD） can be avoided. Moreover, the cause that TiC protrudes from the substrate surface of the heads is studied. The appropriate shape and size of diamond abrasive are selected according to the chemical activation of A1203 and TiC in the same slurry. In this way, the chemical and mechanical interactions are optimized and the optimal surface that has small PTR and TiC asperity is achieved. Ultimatily, the chemical mechanical nano-grinding in combination with mechanical nano-grinding is adopted. Sub-nanometer PTR is achieved and the TiC asperity is eliminated by the chemical mechanical nano-grinding with large size ofmonocrystalline followed by mechanical nano-grinding with smalle polycrystalline diamonds.

The gradient nanostructure is machined on the aluminum(Al)alloy by the two-dimensional ultrasonic surface burnishing process(2D-USBP).The mechanism of why the gradient nanostructure enhances wear resistance is *** mechanical properties and microstructure characterization for the gradient nanostructure are performed by operating a nanoindenter,transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and electron backscattered diffraction(EBSD).Dry wear tests are performed on the samples before and after machining to evaluate the wear resistance and *** effect of the gradient nanostructure on the wear resistance is explored by developing the crystal plasticity(CP)finite element and molecular dynamics(MD)*** characterization results show that the 2D-USBP sample prepared a gradient structure of~600μm thick on the aluminum surface,increasing the surface hardness from 1.13 to 1.71 GPa and reducing the elastic modulus from 78.84 to 70.14 *** optimization of the surface microstructure and the increase of the mechanical properties effectively enhance the wear resistance of the sample,with 41.20%,39.07%,and 54.58% of the wear scar areas for the 2D-USBP treated samples to the original samples under 5,10,and 15 N loads,*** gradient nanostructure hinders the slip of dislocations inside the sample during the wear process and reduces the size and scope of plastic deformation;meanwhile,the resistance to deformation,adhesion,and crack initiation and propagation of the sample surface is improved,resulting in enhanced wear resistance.

A reverse particle grading strategy for design and fabrication of porous SiC ceramic supports with improved strength

Deep-sea mining activities can potentially release metals,which pose a toxicological threat to deep-sea ***,due to the remoteness and inaccessibility of the deep-sea biosphere,there is insufficient knowledge about the impact of metal exposure on its *** this study,deep-sea mussel Gigantidas platifrons,a commonly used deep-sea toxicology model organism,was exposed to manganese(100,1000μg/L)or iron(500,5000μg/L)for 7 d,*** and iron were chosen for their high levels of occurrence within deep-sea *** accumulation and a battery of biochemical biomarkers related to antioxidative stress in superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),malondialdehyde(MDA);immune function in alkaline phosphatase(AKP),acid phosphatase(ACP);and energy metabolism in pyruvate kinase(PK)and hexokinase(HK)were assessed in mussel *** showed that deep-sea mussel *** exhibited a high capacity to accumulate Mn/*** addition,most tested biochemical parameters were altered by metal exposure,demonstrating that metals could induce oxidative stress,suppress the immune system,and affect energy metabolism of deep-sea *** integrated biomarker response(IBR)approach indicated that the exposure to Mn/Fe had a negative impact on deep-sea mussels,and Mn demonstrated a more harmful impact on deep-sea mussels than ***,SOD and CAT biomarkers had the greatest impact on IBR values in Mn treatments,while ACP and HK were most influential for the low-and high-dose Fe groups,*** study represents the first application of the IBR approach to evaluate the toxicity of metals on deep-sea fauna and serves as a crucial framework for risk assessment of deep-sea mining-associated metal exposure.
