Ocean acidification（OA）, caused by the rising concentration of atmospheric CO2, leads to changes in the marine carbonate system. This, in turn, affects the physiological processes of phytoplankton. In response to increased p CO2levels, marine microalgae modulate their physiological responses to meet their energy and metabolic requirements. Nitrogen metabolism is a critical metabolic pathway, directly affecting the growth and reproductive capacity of marine microorganisms. Understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate nitrogen metabolism in microalgae under OA conditions is therefore crucial. This study aimed to investigate how OA affects the expression profiles of key genes in the nitrogen metabolic pathway of the marine diatom Skeletonema costatum. Our findings indicate that OA upregulates key genes involved in the nitrogen metabolic pathway, specifically those related to nitrate assimilation and glutamate metabolism. Moreover, p CO2has been identified as the predominant factor affecting the expression of these genes, with a more significant impact than pH variations in S. costatum. This research not only advances our understanding of the adaptive mechanisms of S. costatum in response to OA but also provides essential data for predicting the ecological consequences of OA on marine diatoms.

Jellyfish blooms are increasingly prevalent coastal phenomena, with Aurelia coerulea being a significant contributor. The complex life history of jellyfish, featuring a sessile polyp stage, is a key factor in bloom formation, yet it is challenging to study in the field. This study aimed to describe the asexual reproduction of A. coerulea polyps in Jiaozhou Bay, China, and to assess their ability to form sedentary colonies and their relationship with environmental factors. Using settling plates, we observed polyps in situ and documented three asexual reproduction modes: budding, strobilation, and podocyst formation. Environmental parameters including temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen(DO), chlorophyll a(Chl a), and the biomass of phytoplankton and zooplankton were monitored. Budding was the predominant reproductive method, featuring stolon budding in autumn and direct budding during the winter and spring seasons. Strobilation took place in the colder months, releasing ephyrae between April and May. Polyp abundance was positively correlated with seawater temperature and negatively correlated with DO concentration. Polyps at 1.0 m depth showed higher survivorship and proliferation over 8 months, whereas those at 2.0 m depth experienced a steady decline and died within 4 months. The study enhances our understanding of the life cycle and asexual reproduction strategies of A. coerulea polyps in the field, with implications for predicting and managing jellyfish blooms. The findings underscore the importance of temperature and DO in polyp survival and suggest that initial polyp population proliferation is crucial for long-term survival.

To the Editor:Pelvic organ prolapse(POP)is a common pelvic floor disorder in older women and is responsible for a significant decrease in health-related quality of *** the increased longevity of women,POP is becoming a major health concern.[1]Laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy(LSC)is a common mesh-based surgical approach for severe prolapse,and a high cure rate and few complications have been reported.[2]To our knowledge,the long-term durability,complications,and pelvic floor symptoms after LSC have not been fully evaluated in detail.A few studies assessed the 5-year outcome after LSC,but these reports were limited by their retrospective design,uneven follow-up time,or inconsistent outcome assessment.

We demonstrated herein an electrochemical dearomatizative alkylation of Katritzky salts,wherein Katritzky salts were harnessed as both radical acceptors and donors.A wide range of privileged dihydropyridine scaffolds was constructed with good to excellent *** voltammetry(CV)and electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)results confirmed the key intermediates-dihydropyridine radicals and gram-scale reaction highlighted the practical and sustainable feature of the newly developed protocol.

Although transvaginal mesh(TVM)repair is no longer used in some countries,long-term outcomes after TVM surgery are of great importance ***,reports with follow-up>10 years are ***,this study aimed to report outcomes in a prospective cohort with at least 10 years of *** with stageⅢ–Ⅳsymptomatic prolapse were approached consecutively from 2008 to 2013 at one tertiary *** main outcome measure was symptomatic *** outcomes included anatomic failure,recurrence,patient satisfaction,complications,and *** Kaplan-Meier curve was used to estimate the cumulative failure *** the 121 patients enrolled in the study,103(85.1%)completed a median follow-up of 11 *** estimated probability rates of symptomatic and anatomic failure were 17.6%and 8.8%in 11 years,*** estimated incidence of symptomatic failure increased by 8.2%between 5 and 11 years;however,the corresponding rate for anatomic failure was 3.7%.The most common complication was vaginal mesh exposure,and its estimated probability increased from 19.3%to 28.4%from 5 to 11 years,*** trimming resolved 80.0%of vaginal *** patients did not report decreased overall *** with vaginal mesh exposure requiring>3 office procedures or mesh removal in the operating room(5.8%by 11 years)had lower satisfaction rates(P<0.01)and were defined as having severe mesh *** rates of postoperative pain,reoperation,and Patient Global Impression of Improvement≥2 were 2.5%,3.3%,and 94.2%,*** results of this study implied that TVM treatment gradually increased the symptomatic failure rate but provided durable anatomical support of the vaginal *** mesh exposure was common in women who were largely not sexually active;however,80%of the cases could be managed in the outpatient clinic,which did not affect patient satisfaction.

Seed size is an important agronomic trait in melons that directly affects seed germination and subsequent seedling ***, the genetic mechanism underlying seed size in melon remains *** the present study,we employed Bulked-Segregant Analysis sequencing （BSA-seq） to identify a candidate region （～1.35 Mb） on chromosome 6 that corresponds to seed *** interval was confirmed by QTL mapping of three seed sizerelated traits from an F2population across three *** mapping region represented nine QTLs that shared an overlapping region on chromosome 6, collectively referred to as *** InDel markers were developedintheqSS6.1 region, narrowing it down to a 68.35 kb interval that contains *** variation analysis of the eight genes identified a SNP with a C to T transition mutation in the promoter region of MELO3C014002, a leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase （LRR-RLK） *** mutation affected the promoter activity of the MELO3C014002 gene and was successfully used to differentiate the large-seeded accessions （C-allele） from the small-seeded accessions （T-allele）.qRT-PCR revealed differential expression of MELO3C014002 between the two parental *** predicted protein has typical LRR-RLK family domains, and phylogenetica***, these findings suggest MELO3C014002 as the most likely candidate gene involved in melon seed size *** results will be helpful for better understanding the genetic mechanism regulating seed size in melons and for genetically improving this important trait through molecular breeding pathways.

采用真空电弧熔炼法制备直径为7 mm AlCrNiFeTi高熵合金(high-entropy alloy,HEA)作为电极,使用电火花沉积技术在304不锈钢表面成功制备了AlCrNiFeTi高熵合金涂层。通过XRD、OM、EDS、SEM、显微硬度计、摩擦磨损试验机对涂层的微观组织结构和摩擦磨损性能进行研究。结果表明,AlCrNiFeTi电极与涂层均以BCC1和BCC2简单固溶体为主,电极微观组织结构呈典型的树枝晶。涂层由沉积点堆叠铺展形成,表面均匀致密呈橘皮状、凸凹不平,为喷溅花样展开,涂层截面结构无宏观缺陷,厚度约为59.67μm。AlCrNiFeTi涂层最大显微硬度为587.3HV0.2,比基材的硬度提高了约2.45倍。随着载荷的增大,涂层的磨损机制由氧化磨损和轻微磨粒磨损转变为磨粒磨损和黏着磨损。当摩擦载荷为5 N时,磨损率为1.213×10^(-3)mm^(3)/(N·m),摩擦因数仅为0.446,涂层的磨损率较基材的磨损率减小了约28.3%。
