Climate change is one of the biggest health threats of the 21st *** China is the biggest developing country,with a large population and different climate types,its projections of large-scale heat-related excess mortality remain *** particular,the effects of climate change on aging populations have not been well studied,and may result in significantly underestimation of heat *** this study,we took four climate change scenarios of Tier-1 in CMIP6,which were combinations of Shared Socioeconomic Pathways(SSPs)and Representative Concentration Pathways(RCPs).We used the exposure-response functions derived from previous studies combined with baseline age-specific non-accidental mortality rates to project heat-related excess ***,we employed the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index(LMDI)method to decompose the impacts of climate change,population growth,and aging on heat-related excess ***,we multiplied the heat-related Years of Life Lost(YLL)with the Value of a Statistical Life Year(VSLY)to quantify the economic burden of premature *** found that the heat-related excess mortality would be concentrated in central China and in the densely populated south-eastern coastal *** aging is considered,heat-related excess mortality will become 2.8–6.7 times than that without considering aging in 2081–2100 under different *** contribution analysis showed that the effect of aging on heat-related deaths would be much higher than that of climate *** findings highlighted that aging would lead to a severe increase of heat-related deaths and suggesting that regional-specific policies should be formulated in response to heat-related risks.

Using N-methyl-D-glucosamine(NMDG)as the functional monomer,glycidyl methacrylate(GMA)as the connecting monomer,functionalized Fe3O4 nano-particles(NPs)as the support,three adsorbents were prepared including direct polymer GMA-NMDG,magnetic GMA-NMDG polymer(MGN),and boron magnetic ion-imprinted polymer(BMIIP).Based upon the optimization of synthesis conditions,the prepared adsorbents and intermediate products were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,thermogravimetric analysis,scanning electron microscope,energy dispersive spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction,vibrating sample magnetometer,and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller to investigate the synthesis process,the morphological structure and the functional properties of the *** optimum performances of GMA-NMDG,MGN and BMIIP were obtained in the initial neutral solution(pH of 6.5).Moreover,GMANMDG and MGN reached the maximum adsorption capacity at 120 min,whereas BMIIP reached adsorption saturation at 60 *** pseudo-second-order kinetic model was more suitable for the adsorption of boron using the *** maximum adsorption capacity of GMA-NMDG was found to be 43.4 mg·g^(-1),while those of MGN and BMIIP were 32.5 and 28.3 mg·g^(-1),*** Langmuir isotherm model was more appropriate to describe the adsorption *** adsorbents maintained satisfactory adsorption performance within a certain temperature *** ions had little effect on the adsorption of boron,and would be adsorbed simultaneously,due to which,the effect of co-adsorption can be *** adsorption capacity of GMA-NMDG was high,while the adsorption selectivity of BMIIP was much ***,BMIIP showed good adsorption after five cycles of adsorption and *** comparison of adsorbents showed that GMA-NMDG had the highest adsorption capacity and was suitable for *** had a high adsorption capacity,good comprehensive performance and magnetic *** had better ads

A series of 6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline derivatives connected by diaryl urea scaffolds was designed, synthesized and their in vitro antitumor activities were evaluated. Most of them showed an excellent potency against the four tested cancer cell lines as compared with sorafenib. Particularly, a promising compound 20 was identified, which showed the most potent antitumor activities with IC50 values of 0.08, 0.09, 0.16 and 0.19 μmol/L against H460, HT-29, MKN-45 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines, respectively. The structure-activity relationship（SAR） analysis indicated that compounds with dimethylamino or diethylamino group at the C4 position of 6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline moiety exhibited superior activities than compounds bearing morpholino groups.

The Impacts and Adaptation of Climate Extremes on the Power System:Insights from the Texas Power Outage Caused by Extreme Cold Wave

Along with the aggravation of climate change, various weather and climate extreme events(abbreviated as climate extremes) are becoming more frequent. During the transition to the use of clean energy, the power system will show increasingly prominent features such as high ratio of clean energy, high ratio of electrification, and a high proportion of electric and electronic equipment, coupled with summer and winter load peaks. Against this backdrop, this paper studies the impacts of climate extremes on the power system using the Texas power outage as an example,and proposes general adaptation measures to cope with climate extremes. For a start, this paper reviews the power outage in Texas caused by an extreme cold wave across the North America in 2021, and conducts an in-depth analysis of its causes. Then, based on the theoretical framework of disaster risk management, this paper analyzes the weather and climate disaster risks, extreme events, exposure, and vulnerability faced by the power system in the context of climate change and extreme events. Finally, in order to build a new power system, this paper establishes an overall framework for the power system to mitigate and adapt to climate change, and summarizes the key techniques involved in power generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption, as well as key technologies in the fields of power supply, power grid, power load, and energy storage, and the strategies and measures for addressing climate change.

We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

Energy Demand Prediction of the Building Sector Based on Induced Kernel Method and MESSAGEix Model

Owing to the lack of fatty acid desaturase and elongase activities in mammals,ω-6 andω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs) are essential fatty acids and need to be gained through dietary *** studies have suggested that a balanced ratio ofω-6/ω-3(～1:1) in tissues is considered to be ***,in modern Western diets,the ratio ofω-6/ω-3 is drastically imbalanced,reaching the level of～20:*** an imbalanced ratio in favor ofω-6 PUFAs is one of the major reasons underlying the causes of chronic inflammation,obesity,diabetes,dyslipidemia,and cardiovascular diseases.A large body of epidemiological studies has also demonstrated the health benefits of longterm dietary intake ofω-3 PUFAs in significantly lowering the incidence of these *** contrast,numerous clinical attempts of using fish-oil pills to treat obesity and diabetes have been met with failures,suggesting that the imbalanced ratios ofω-6/ω-3 can hardly be corrected using fish-oil ***,we have generated a transgenic model by introducing a version of *** gene,mfat-1,that encodes anω-3 fatty acid *** enzymatic activity of mFAT-1 renders endogenous capability of producingω-3 PUFAs to the transgenic mice;it increases the levels ofω-3 PUFAs by usingω-6 PUFAs as the substrates,thus balancing the ratios ofω-6/ω-*** recent studies have revealed some very dramatic phenotypes of mfat-1 mice in enhancing islet functions and survival,resisting the development of obesity, diabetes,dyslipidemia,osteoprosis,and *** this innovative tool of mfat-1 mice and other molecular tools,we systematically investigated howω-6 andω-3 PUFAs impact energy balance,body weight,and islet functions as well as the underlying mechanisms.

The building sector,including resident,commercial and public services,is one of the most energy-intensive sectors *** share of buildings’ energy consumption in the final energy dramatically increases in various *** the preliminary work of the final energy prediction,the prediction of useful energy demand of the building sector is essential in the fields of energy-related research,especially for the scenarios *** this end,this paper presents the prediction of energy demand in the building sector based on the Induced Kernel Method(IKM) for the useful ***,similar to other learning-based prediction methods,a database is constructed for the ***,the database contains not only the historical data of the useful energy demand and related indicators,but also some development templates to induce the ***,the detailed process is mathematically deduced to predict the useful energy demand components of the building sector,including electricity and ***,using various countries as examples,prediction results of the useful energy are presented in the numerical ***,by using useful energy prediction results as the input of the MESSAGEix model,the paper further predicts global final energy of the building sector.
