Effect of obstructive jaundice on hemodynamics in the liver and its clinical significance

BACKGROUND: Many diseases can cause obstructive jaundice and then lead to a series of pathologic disorders. Thus preoperative assessment of liver function is of utmost importance. Traditional assessment is to monitor related indicators of liver function, but it is invasive and needs to be performed repeatedly. Color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) was used to monitor blood flow of the hepatic artery and portal vein, a non-invasive method which can be used repeatedly. METHODS: Twenty cases of obstructive jaundice were detected by CDFI and changes of liver function were measured after operation. The variables of hemodynamic monitoring included peak flow rate and mean blood flow in the hepatic artery proper at the peak of the contraction period; the inner diameter of blood vessels, the peak flow rate, and the congestion index, the blood flow in the main portal vein. RESULTS: The average peak flow rate in the hepatic artery of patients with obstructive jaundice was significantly higher than that of normal people; both the inner diameter and congestive index of the portal vein were significantly larger than those of normal people. But the mean blood flow and peak flow rate in the portal vein were lower than those of normal people. CONCluSIONS: CDFI is an ideal and non-invasive method for evaluating liver hemodynamics in obstructive jaundice. If the increase of hepatic arterial flow is more significant than the decrease of the blood flow in the portal vein, hepatic functional recovery after operation is smoother, suggesting a better prognosis. If the increase of the hepatic arterial flow is less significant than the decrease of the blood flow in the portal vein, hepatic functional recovery after operation may not be smooth, suggesting a worse prognosis.

Constraints on the extensions to the base ΛCDM model from BICEP2, Planck and WMAP

Recently Background Imaging of Cosmic Extragalactic Polarization （B2） discovered the relic gravitational waves at 7.00- confi- dence level. However, the other cosmic microwave background （CMB） data, for example Planck data released in 2013 （P13）, prefer a much smaller amplitude of the primordial gravitational waves spectrum if a power-law spectrum of adiabatic scalar perturbations is assumed in the six-parameter ACDM cosmology. In this paper, we explore whether the wCDM model and the running spectral index can relax the tension between B2 and other CMB data. Specifically we found that a positive running of running of spectral index is preferred at 1.70- level from the combination of B2, P 13 and WMAP Polarization data.

Fe-based Prussian blue(Fe-PB)cathode material shows great application potential in sodium(Na)-ion batteries due to its high theoretical capacity,long cycle life,low cost,and simple preparation ***,the crystalline water and vacancies of Fe-PB lattice,the low electrical conductivity,and the dissolution of metal ions lead to limited capacity and poor cycling *** this work,a perylene tetracarboxylic dianhydride amine(PTCDA)coating layer is successfully fabricated on the surface of Fe-PB by a liquid-phase *** aminated PTCDA(PTCA)coating not only increases the specific surface area and electronic conductivity but also effectively reduces the crystalline water and vacancies,which avoids the erosion of Fe-PB by ***,the PTCA layer reduces the charge transfer resistance,enhances the Na-ion diffusion coefficient,and improves the structure *** PTCA-coated Fe-PB exhibits superior Na storage performance with a first discharge capacity of 145.2 mAh g^(−1) at 100 mA g^(−1).Long cycling tests exhibit minimal capacity decay of 0.027%per cycle over 1000 cycles at 1 A g^(−1).Therefore,this PTCA coating strategy has shown promising competence in enhancing the electrochemical performance of Fe-PB,which can potentially serve as a universal electrode coating strategy for Na-ion batteries.

Numerical simulations of propeller cavitation flows based on OpenFOAM

In order to study the cavitation and hydrodynamic characteristics of propeller under uniform and non-uniform flows,numerical investigations are performed using interPhaseChangeDyMFoam in the open source computational fluid dynamics(CFD)software platform OpenFOAM with Schnerr-Sauer cavitation *** simulation results can be used as a reference to evaluate the working ability of a propeller in case of actual navigation.A new grid encryption method is adopted in the research to better capture the existence of vortex cavitation at the propeller *** method of function input is carried out in the study to simulate the condition of non-uniform flow and reduce the calculation *** unsteady dynamics are predicted by the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)method with a modified shear stress transport(SST)k−ωturbulence *** numerical results of the propeller such as cavitation shape and pressure distribution under uniform and non-uniform flow are analyzed and compared with each other.

To address the inadequacies of traditional pipe-roof methods,the steel support cutting pipe method(SSCP)—a novel pipe-roof method that improves construction security and underground space usage—is *** further explore the applications of SSCP,its design scheme ought to be *** failure mode and mechanical behaviors of the SSCP were investigated through laboratory ***,a series of finite element models(FEMs)was established to study the deformation ***,the parameters of the steel support of the proposed structure were optimized using fuzzy *** results indicated the ultimate bearing capacity to be 366.8 kN,and the specimen began to yield when the external load reached 70%of the ultimate *** lon-gitudinal spacing of the steel supports,transverse steel support size,and vertical steel support size had significant effect on the vertical deformation of the steel support and the ground ***,the optimal combination of steel supports for the SSCP structure was obtained.

Salt-fog corrosion behavior of C/SiC and its effect on ablation resistance

Carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide(C/SiC) composites are significantly important candidates for thermal protection materials. The corrosion mechanism of C/SiC composite materials is the basis of their optimization and application. In this study, structural evolution of C/SiC composites fabricated by chemical vapor infiltration was investigated in the salt-fog storage environment. Furthermore, the effect of salt-fog on their ablation behaviors under oxyacetylene flame environment was studied. The ablation morphologies and corrosion mechanisms of C/SiC composites were analyzed and discussed. The results indicated that silica layer with size of c.a. 20 nm was formed on the surface of composite. The extent of corrosion in salt fog was limited, and it had little effect on the ablation behavior of the C/SiC composites,as well on the tensile strength and bending strength.

Flow characteristics and bubble statistics during the fragmentation process of the ingested main cavity in plunging breaking waves

Plunging breaking waves play an important role in the exchange of heat,momentum,and mass between the atmosphere and *** this paper,a series of direct numerical simulations is conducted to investigate the fragmentation process of the ingested main cavity in plunging breaking *** two-phase Navier-Stokes equations are solved using the finite-volume method based on adaptive refinement *** free surface is captured using a geometrical volume of fluid *** 2-D,3-D simulations are *** flow fields at different stages of wave breaking are presented and quantitative analysis for bubbles is *** 2-D instantaneous vorticity field and local velocity field are visualized to discuss the general flow characteristics during the fragmentation *** a 2-D parametric study is conducted to investigate the differences in the flow characteristics during the fragmentation process under different wave parameters including initial wave steepness(ε),Bond number(Bo),and Reynolds number(Re).3-D vortex structures are shown to further investigate the mechanisms behind the differences in the flow *** bubble size distributions under two different initial wave steepness are also discussed with their relationship to the fragmentation process of the ingested main *** research offers a significant understanding of the distinct procedures and fundamental dynamics involved in wave breaking,enhancing our comprehension of this intricate event.

Spatiotemporal interaction pattern of the Beijing agricultural product circulation

Identifying the spatiotemporal interaction pattern of agricultural product circulation(APC)is crucial for agricultural resource adjustment and food *** studies are mostly based on static statistical data over an entire year or a specific period,which cannot describe the spatial pattern of APC and its seasonal variation on a fine spatiotemporal ***,this study extracts an APC trip chain based on national truck trajectory data and constructs the flow network of the Beijing APC with the city as the spatial unit and the season as the temporal *** spatial interaction pattern and seasonal variation in APC are then analyzed from the network spatial form,city node function role,and transportation *** results are as follows:(1)Compared with methods based on static statistical data,the proposed method provides a more complete and refined depiction of the spatiotemporal interaction pattern of APC.(2)The flow network of the Beijing APC involves 316 cities in China,of which 143 cities play a major role with typical seasonal *** cities can be divided into perennial core cities,perennial major cities,core cities in winter-spring,major cities in winter-spring,core cities in summer-autumn,and major cities in summer-autumn,contributing 2.6%-40.3%to the Beijing APC.(3)There are 6 transportation corridors for the Beijing *** Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei corridor and coastal corridor contribute 53.5%and 12.8%of the annual supply,respectively,with a balanced supply in all *** Beijing-Kunming corridor and Beijing-Guangzhou corridor contribute 14.3%and 9.0%,respectively,with much higher supplies in winter and *** northeast and northwest corridors contribute 7.3%and 3.3%,respectively,mainly in the summer and *** results help deepen the understanding of agricultural product supply patterns and provide a reference for the design and optimization of agricultural product transportation routes.

Promotional effect of Cu additive for the selective catalytic oxidation of n-butylamine over CeZrO_(x)catalyst

The catalytic elimination of nitrogen-containing volatile organic compounds(NVOCs)still encounters bottlenecks in NO_(x)formation and low N_(2)***,a series of Cu-promoted Ce-Zr mixed oxide catalysts were synthesized using a simple precipitation approach,and n-butylamine was adopted as the probe pollutant to evaluate their catalytic *** Ce Cu_(10%)ZrO_(x)catalyst exhibited the best catalytic activity,with 100%n-butylamine conversion and 90%N_(2)selectivity at 250℃.Concurrently,this sample also displayed good water resistance.A detailed characterization of the catalyst was performed through a series of experimental studies and theoretical *** addition of Cu increased the redox property and promoted the production of oxygen vacancies,all of which were favorable for the greatest nbutylamine selective catalytic oxidation *** changes of oxygen vacancies over Ce Cu_(10%)ZrO_(x)in reaction process were studied by in situ Raman ***,in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectra(DRIFTs)and theoretical calculations were employed to explore the reaction mechanism of n-butylamine selective *** high activity and selectivity of this catalyst confirm the practical feasibility of the selective oxidation of n-butylamine to CO_(2)and N_(2),and the exploration of the reaction mechanism provides new insights into the further design of catalysts.

Liquid phase in-situ synthesis of LiF coated boron powder composite and performance study

Among practical metal additives,boron(B) has a high volumetric heating value,making it a promising choice as a fuel *** B can theoretically yield a large amount of energy upon complete combustion,its combustion is retarded by the initial presence of B oxide,which coats the surfaces of B *** improve the ignition and combustion properties of B powder,LiOH and NH4F were used as precursors to synthesize uniformly LiF-coated B composites(LiF-B) in *** LiF-B mixture was also prepared for comparison using a physical method.X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier-transform infrared(FTIR),scanning electron microscope(SEM),and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS) were used to characterize the morphologies and compositions of the *** thermal and combustion properties of the samples were characterized by thermal gravity-differential thermal gravity(TG-DTG),differential scanning calo rimetry(DSC) and closed bomb *** XRD,FTIR,SEM and EDS results demonstrated the successful preparation of the coated LiF-B *** TG-DTG and closed bomb experiment results indicated that the addition of LiF decreased the ignition temperature of B powder,and increasing its reaction *** results show that when LiF-B was added,the released heat of underwater explosive increased by 6727.2,7280.4 and 3109.6 J/g at heating rates of 5,10,and 15℃/min,***,LiF-B decreased the activation energy of secondary combustion reaction of explosive system as calculated through Kissinger’s method by 28.9%,which indicated an excellent catalytic effect for the thermal decomposition of underwater *** results reveal that LiF can improve the combustion efficiency of B powder,thereby increasing the total energy of *** mechanical sensitivity increased slightly after adding LiF-B to the underwater *** mpared to the underwater explosive with added B,the mechanical sensitivity of the explosive with added LiF-B was significantly
