Background:To compare the efficacy of Ex-PRESS implantation versus trabeculectomy combined with ***:A retrospective 12-month study on patients with coincident primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG)and *** patients underwent combined phacoemulsification and Ex-PRESS implant(Phaco-ExPRESS,n=35)or phacotrabeculectomy(Phaco-Trab,n=35).The morphological structures of the filtering bleb were examined by slitlamp,anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT)and in vivo confocal microscopy(IVCM).Complete success was defined as postoperative intraocular pressure(IOP)nti-glaucoma *** success was defined as postoperative IOPnti-glaucoma *** data were collected preoperatively and postoperatively at 2 weeks,1 month,3 months,6 months,and 12 ***:no significant difference in the variables such as age,IOP and perimetry was found between the groups of Phaco-ExPRESS and *** the one-year postoperative visit for filtering blebs,Phaco-ExPRESS increased the mean area of epithelial microcysts significantly from 0.10±0.05 to 0.20±0.09μm^(2)perμm^(2),while Phaco-Trab decreased the mean area significantly from 0.08±0.04 to 0.04±0.06μm^(2)perμm^(2).notably,the hyperreflective dots detected by IVCM decreased by 84.9%in Phaco-ExPRESS but increased by 36.3%in *** hyperreflective dots were further identified as neutrophil-and monocyte-like *** number of these cells were negatively correlated with the microcysts area(r=−0.7,Py associated with the grade of connective tissue(r=0.5,Py creating different microstructural changes in the filtering blebs,Phaco-ExPRESS produced a higher complete success rate(84.9%vs.41.2%,Pnd significant decrease in the number of anti-glaucoma medications(Pn compared with those in ***,the qualified success showed no significant difference between the two groups(

Controllable nucleation and deformation of skyrmions on surface of magnetic nanotubular monolayer

Magnetic skyrmions emerge when the energy of ferromagnetic exchange interaction promoting parallel alignment of spins enters in competition with energies favoring non-collinear alignment of spins such as Dzy aloshinskii-Moriya interaction(DMI),long-rang dipole-dipole interaction(DDI),or higher-order exchange *** perform an unbiased Monte Carlo simulation to study the DMI-based skyrmion nucleation and stabilization on the surface of magnetic nanotubular monolayer controlled by tuning constants of DDI(g) and next-nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic exchange interaction(j') with appropriate *** g and j',the loosely distributed skyrmions initially.nucleate on the surface of nanotube approaching to the magnetic field(h) direction with increasing h in the intermediate ***,the skyrmion size,shape,density,distribution and crystal structure,as well as its driven field range,are tailored by g and j'.This work demonstrates the skyrmion nucleation mechanisms in three-dimensional magnetic nanostructures with curvature effect and multiple interactions,serving as a benchmark for a guide to experimentalists for preparation of samples in magnetic skyrmion states.

Effects of thinning and understory removal on water use efficiency of Pinus massoniana:evidence from photosynthetic capacity and stable carbon isotope analyses

Understanding the relationship between forest management and water use efficiency(WUE)is important for evaluating forest adaptability to climate ***,the effects of thinning and understory removal on WUE and its key controlling processes are not well understood,which limits our comprehension of the physiological mechanisms of various management *** this study,four forest management measures(no thinning:nT;understory removal:UR;light thinning:LT;and heavy thinning:HT)were carried out in Pinus massoniana plantations in a subtropical region of *** capacity and needle stable carbon isotope composition(δ^(13)C)were measured to assess instantaneous water use efficiency(WUE_(inst))and long-term water use efficiency(WUE_(i)).Multiple regression models and structural equation modelling(SEM)identified the effects of soil properties and physiological performances on WUE_(inst)and WUE_(i).The results show that WUE_(inst)values among the four treatments were ***,compared with the nT stand(35.8μmol·mol^(-1)),WUE_(i)values significantly increased to 41.7μmol·mol^(-1)in the UR,50.1μmol·mol^(-1)in the LT and 46.6μmol·mol^(-1)in HT treatments,largely explained by photosynthetic capacity and soil water *** removal did not change physiological performance(needle water potential and photosynthetic capacity).Thinning increased the net photosynthetic rate(A_n)but not stomatal conductance(g_s)or predawn needle water potential(ψ_(pd)),imply.ng that the improvement in water use efficiency for thinned stands was largely driven by radiation interception than by soil water *** general,thinning may be an appropriate management measure to promote *** WUE to cope with seasonal droughts under future extreme climates.

The rapid development of artificial intelligence poses an urgent need for low-energy-consumption and small-sized artificial photonic ***,it is pretty.novel to demonstrate a light-stimulated synaptic device based on a single(Al,Ga)n nanowire *** to the presence of vacancy defects in the single nanowire,the artificial synaptic device can simulate multiple functions of biological synapses under stimulation of both 310 and 365 nm light photons,including paired-pulse facilitation,spike timing dependent plasticity,and memory learning *** energy consumption of artificial synaptic device can be reduced as little as 5.58×10^(-13) J,which is close to that of the biological synapse in human ***,the synaptic device is demonstrated to have the high stability for both long-time stimulation and long-time *** on the experimental conductance of long-term potentiation and long-term depression,the simulated three-layer neural network can achieve a high recognition rate of 92%after only 10 training *** a brain-like behavior,the single-nanowire-based synaptic devices can promote the development of visual neuromorphic computing technology and artificial intelligence systems requiring ultralow energy consumption.

DMPP mitigates n_(2)O and nO productions by inhibiting ammonia-oxidizing bacteria in an intensified vegetable field under different temperature and moisture regimes

Vegetable soils with high nitrogen input are major sources of nitrous oxide(n_(2)O)and nitric oxide(nO),and incorporation of the nitrification inhibitor 3,4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate(DMPP)into soils has been documented to effectively reduce ***,the efficiency of DMPP in terms of soil n_(2)O and nO mitigations varies greatly depending on soil temperature and moisture ***,further evaluations of DMPP efficiency in diverse environments are required to encourage widespread application.A laboratory incubation study(28 d)was established to investigate the interactive effects of DMPP,temperature(15,25,and 35?C),and soil moisture(55% and 80% of water-holding capacity(WHC))on net nitrification rate,n_(2)O and nO productions,and gene abundances of nitrifiers and denitrifiers in an intensive vegetable *** showed that incubating soil with 1%DMPP led to partial inhibition of the net nitrification rate and n_(2)O and nO productions,and the reduction percentage of n_(2)O production was higher than that of nO production(69.3%vs.38.2%)regardless of temperature and soil moisture *** increased temperatures promoted the net nitrification rate but decreased soil n_(2)O and nO *** moisture influenced nO production more than n_(2)O production,decreasing with the increased moisture level(80%).The inhibitory effect of DMPP on cumulative n_(2)O and nO productions decreased with increased temperatures at 55%***,the inhibitory effect of DMPP on cumulative n_(2)O production increased with increased temperatures at 80%*** on the correlation analyses and automatic linear modeling,the mitigation of both n_(2)O and nO productions from the soil induced by DMPP was attributed to the decreases in ammonia-oxidizing bacteria(AOB)amoA gene abundance and nO_(2)^(-)-n ***,our study indicated that DMPP reduced both n_(2)O and nO productions by regulating the associated AOB amoA gene abundance and nO_(2)^(-)-n concentra

Topological and superconducting properties of monolayered Con and CoP:A first-principles comparative study

Two-dimensional systems that simultaneously harbor superconductivity and nontrivial band topology may serve as appealing platforms for realizing topological superconductivity with promising applications in fault-tolerant quantum ***,based on first-principles calculations,we show that monolayered Co n and Co P with the isovalent Fe Se-like structure are stable in freestanding form,even though their known bulk phases have no resemblance to *** two systems are further revealed to display intrinsic band inversions due to crystal field splitting,and such orderings are preserved with the inclusion of spin-orbit coupling(SOC),which otherwise is able to open a curved band gap,yielding a non-zero Z2 topological invariant in each *** a mechanism of topologicalization is distinctly contrasted with that identified recently for the closely related monolayers of CoX(X=As,Sb,Bi),where the SOC plays an indispensable role in causing a nontrivial band ***,we demonstrate that,by apply.ng equi-biaxial tensile strain,the electron-phonon coupling strength in monolayered Con can be significantly enhanced,yielding a superconducting transition temperature(Tc)up to 7-12 K for the Coulomb pseudopotential ofμ*=0.2-0.1,while the CoP monolayer shows very low Tc even under pronounced *** different superconducting behaviors can be attributed to different variations in lattice softening and electronic density of states around the Fermi level upon *** central findings enrich the understanding of different mechanisms of band inversions and topologicalization and offer platforms for achieving the coexistence of superconductivity and nontrivial band topology based on two-dimensional systems.
