Effects of a decade of organic fertilizer substitution on vegetable yield and soil phosphorus pools, phosphatase activities, and the microbial community in a greenhouse vegetable production system

Partial substitution of chemical fertilizers by organic amendments is adopted widely for promoting the availability of soil phosphorus(P)in agricultural ***,few studies have comprehensively evaluated the effects of longterm organic substitution on soil P availability and microbial activity in greenhouse vegetable fields.A 10-year(2009–2019)field experiment was carried out to investigate the impacts of organic fertilizer substitution on soil P pools,phosphatase activities and the microbial community,and identify factors that regulate these soil P transformation *** treatments included 100%chemical N fertilizer(4 CN),50%substitution of chemical N by manure(2 CN+2 MN),straw(2 CN+2 SN),and combined manure with straw(2 CN+1 MN+1 SN).Compared with the 4 CN treatment,organic substitution treatments increased celery and tomato yields by 6.9-13.8%and 8.6-18.1%,respectively,with the highest yields being in the 2 CN+1 MN+1 SN *** 10 years of fertilization,organic substitution treatments reduced total P and inorganic P accumulation,increased the concentrations of available P,organic P,and microbial biomass P,and promoted phosphatase activities(alkaline and acid phosphomonoesterase,phosphodiesterase,and phytase)and microbial growth in comparison with the 4 CN ***,organic substitution treatments significantly increased soil C/P,and the partial least squares path model(PLS-PM)revealed that the soil C/P ratio directly and significantly affected phosphatase activities and the microbial biomass and positively influenced soil P pools and vegetable *** least squares(PLS)regression demonstrated that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi positively affected phosphatase *** results suggest that organic fertilizer substitution can promote soil P transformation and *** manure with straw was more effective than applying these materials separately for developing sustainable P management practices.

Theoretical investigation on the cavitation bubble dynamics near three spherical particles based on Weiss theorem

To research the dynamics of the cavitation bubble under the interaction of particle clusters,the bubble morphological evolutionary characteristics near three equal-sized spherical particles are theoretically explored in the present study based on the Weiss theorem and the velocity potential superposition *** three particles are arranged symmetrically,and the fluid velocity field near the three particles and the cavitation bubble is ***,the effects of the bubble-particle distance and the maximum radius of the cavitation bubble on the fluid velocity are investigated,and the contribution mechanisms of the fluid velocity field constituents are *** analysis has found that:(1)The fluid velocity between the bubble and the particle is lower than that at the other locations in both the growth and collapse phases,thus the bubble cannot always maintain a standard spherical shape.(2)The bubble-particle distance and the maximum radius of the cavitation bubble are the key parameters affecting the circumferential inhomogeneity of the radial velocity of the fluid around the *** larger the maximum radius or the smaller the bubble-particle distance is,the more visible the non-circularity of the bubble morphology.(3)The image bubbles and the linear sinks contribute oppositely to the fluid velocity field,and the presence of the image bubble reduces the fluid *** the low velocity region,the image bubble is the main mechanism contributing to the effect of the particle on the fluid velocity.

The GeV emission of PSR B1259–63 during its last three periastron passages observed by Fermi-LAT

PSR B1259–63 is a γ-ray emitting high mass X-ray binary system, in which the compact object is a millisecond *** system has an orbital period of 1236.7 d and shows peculiar γ-ray flares when the neutron star moves out of the stellar disk of the companion *** γ-ray flare events were firstly discovered by using Fermi-LAT around the 2010 periastron passage, which was repeated for the 2014 and 2017 periastron *** analyze the Fermi-LAT data for all the three periastron passages and found that in each flare the energy spectrum can be represented well by a simple power *** γ-ray light curves show that in 2010 and 2014 after each periastron there are two main flares,but in 2017 there are four flares including one precursor about 10 d after the periastron *** first main flares in 2010 and 2014 are located at around 35 d after the periastron passage, and the main flare in 2014 is delayed by roughly 1.7 d with respect to that in *** the 2017 flare, the source shows a precursor about 10 d after the periastron passage, but the following two flares become weaker and lag behind those in 2010 by roughly 5 *** strongest flares in 2017 occurred 58 d and 70 d after the periastron *** results challenge the previous models.

Dynamic Recrystallization Behavior of GCr15SiMn Bearing Steel during Hot Deformation

The hot deformation behavior of GCr15SiMn steel was studied through high temperature compression tests on the Gleeble-1500 thermal-mechanical simulator. The initiation and evolution of dynamic recrystallization （DRX） were investigated with microstructural analysis and then the process variables were derived from flow curves. In the present deformation conditions, the curves of strain hardening exponent （n） and the true strain （e） at the deformation temperature of 1423 K and strain rates of 0.1, 1 and 10 s^-1 exhibit single peak and single valley. According to Zener-Hollomon and Ludwik equation, the experimental data have been regressed by using linear method. An expression of Z parameter and hot deformation equation of the tested steel were established. Moreover, the Q values of GCrlSSiMn and GCr15 steels were compared. In order to determine the recrystallization fraction under different con ditions, the volume fraction of DRX as a function of process variables, such as strain rate （ε）, temperature （T）, and strain （ε）, was established. Itwas found that the calculated results agreed with the mierostructure of the steel at any deformation conditions.

Aurum nanomaterials(ANM), combining the features of nanotechnology and metal elements, have demonstrated enormous potential and aroused great attention on biomedical applications over the past few decades. Particularly, their advantages, such as controllable particle size, flexible surface modification, higher drug loading, good stability and biocompatibility, especially unique optical properties, promote the development of ANM in biomedical field. In this review, we will discuss the advanced preparation process of ANM and summarize their recent applications as well as their prospects in diagnosis and therapy. Besides, multi-functional ANM-based theranostic nanosystems will be introduced in details, including radiotherapy(RT), photothermal therapy(PTT), photodynamic therapy(PDT), immunotherapy(IT), and so on.

Influence of pH on short-cut denitrifying phosphorus removal

Through a series of experiments using denitrifying phosphorus-accumulating sludge in sequencing batch reactors （SBRs）, the variations of the intracellular polymers during the anaerobic phosphorus release process at different pH values were compared, the probable reasons for different performances of phosphorus removal were examined, and system operations in a typical cycle were investigated. The results show that the phosphorus removal rate was positively correlated with pH values in a range of 6.5-8.5. When the pH value was 8.0, the anaerobic phosphorus release rate and anoxic phosphorus uptake rate of the activated sludge were 20.95 mg/（g, h） and 23.29 mg/（g, h）, respectively; the mass fraction of poly-13-hydroxybutyrate （PHB） increased to 62.87 mg/g under anaerobic conditions; the mass fraction of polyphosphate was 92.67 mg/g under anoxic conditions; and the effluent concentration of total phosphorus （TP） was 1.47 mg/L. With the increase of pH, the mass fraction of acetic acid and PHB also increased, and the absorption rate of acetic acid was equal to the disintegration rate of polyphosphate. When the pH value was above 8.0, biological phosphorus removal was achieved by chemical phosphorus precipitation, and the phosphorus removal rate decreased.

In this paper,amino capped CdSe/ZnS quantum dots(QDs)were immobilized on the 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid(MUA)self-assembled Au surface(SAM/Au)by 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide hydrochloride(EDC).Atomic force microscopy(AFM),fluorescence imaging and electrochemistry were employed to characterize the *** results showed that CdSe/ZnS QDs were immobilized on the surface of SAM/Au *** on this method,the fluorescence of the QDs on the SAM/Au was monitored on-line.

DEM Simulation of Solid Flow Including Asymmetric Phenomena in COREX Shaft Furnace

Based on the principles of the discrete element method （DEM）, a scaled-down model was established to analyze burden descending behavior, including asymmetric phenomena, throughout an entire COREX shaft furnace （SF）. The applicability of the DEM model was validated by determining its accordance with a previous experiment. The effects of discharge rate and abnormal conditions on solid flow were described in terms of solid flow pattern and microscopic analysis. Results confirmed that the solid flow of the COREX SF can be divided into four different flow regions; the largest normal force exists at the top of the man-made dead zone, and the weak force network exists in the funnel flow region. The basic solid flow profile was identified as a clear Flat→U→W type. Increasing the dis- charge rate decreased the quasi-stagnant zone size, but did not affect the macroscopic motion of particles or the shape of patterns above the bustle. For asymmetric conditions, in which particles were discharged at different rates, the solid flow patterns were asymmetric. Under an abnormal condition where no particles were discharged from the left outlet, a sizeable stagnant zone was formed opposite to the working outlet, and ＂motionless＂ particles located in the left stagnant zone showed potential to increase the period of static contacts and sticking effect.
