Study on the flow structure in curved open channels with suspended vegetation using multi relaxation time lattice Boltzmann method

Suspended vegetation in rivers,lakes,reservoirs and canals can change flow structure,which will in turn affect the sediment transport and cause the variation of water ecological *** order to study the characteristics of bend flow through suspended vegetation,three-dimensional numerical simulations are carried out by using the multi-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann method(MRT-LBM).The drag force induced by vegetation is added in the velocity correction in the equilibrium distribution and a hybrid format combined bounce and specular reflection scheme is applied in the solid-fluid *** the validation of this model,six cases are designed to conduct the numerical simulations according to the root depth and the arrangement of *** simulated results show that the suspended vegetation can redistribute the flow structure in curved open *** the arrangement of suspended vegetation,the main flow moves to the side without vegetation,and the distribution of velocity tends to be balanced when vegetation is arranged on the entire cross section,the range of circulating current is reduced from the whole cross section to the local position without vegetation,however,the circulating current can still exist in the curve where the suspended vegetation enters less than half of the water *** addition,it can also be concluded that the suspended vegetation can affect the lateral gradient of flow velocity,and the bed shear stress in the curved channel.

In this editorial we comment on an article published in a recent issue of the World J Gastrointest Surg.A common gene mutation in gastric cancer(GC)is the TP53 *** a tumor suppressor gene,TP53 is implicated in more than half of all tumor ***53 gene mutations in GC tissue may be related with clinical pathological *** TP53 mutation arose late in the progression of GC and aided in the final switch to ***1 encodes E-cadherin,which is involved in cell-to-cell adhesion,epithelial structure maintenance,cell polarity,differentiation,and intracellular signaling pathway ***1 mutations and functional loss can result in diffuse GC,and CDH1 mutations can serve as independent prognostic indicators for poor *** patients can benefit from genetic counseling and testing for CDH1 *** therapy may assist to postpone the onset and progression of *** investigation of TP53 and CDH1 gene mutations in GC allows for the investigation of the relationship between these two gene mutations,as well as providing some basis for evaluating the prognosis of GC patients.

Probiotic Pediococcus pentosaceus restored gossypol-induced intestinal barrier injury by increasing propionate content in Nile tilapia

Background Intestinal barrier is a dynamic interface between the body and the ingested food components, however, dietary components or xenobiotics could compromise intestinal integrity, causing health risks to the host. Gossypol, a toxic component in cottonseed meal(CSM), caused intestinal injury in fish or other monogastric animals. It has been demonstrated that probiotics administration benefits the intestinal barrier integrity, but the efficacy of probiotics in maintaining intestinal health when the host is exposed to gossypol remains unclear. Here, a strain(YC) affiliated to Pediococcus pentosaceus was isolated from the gut of Nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus) and its potential to repair gossypol-induced intestinal damage was *** A total of 270 Nile tilapia(2.20 ± 0.02 g) were allotted in 3 groups with 3 tanks each and fed with 3 diets including CON(control diet), GOS(control diet containing 300 mg/kg gossypol) and GP(control diet containing 300 mg/kg gossypol and 10^(8) colony-forming unit(CFU)/g P. pentosaceus YC), respectively. After 10 weeks, addition of P. pentosaceus YC restored growth retardation and intestinal injury induced by gossypol in Nile tilapia. Transcriptome analysis and si RNA interference experiments demonstrated that NOD-like receptors(NLR) family caspase recruitment domain(CARD) domain containing 3(Nlrc3) inhibition might promote intestinal stem cell(ISC) proliferation, as well as maintaining gut barrier integrity. 16S r RNA sequencing and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) revealed that addition of P. pentosaceus YC altered the composition of gut microbiota and increased the content of propionate in fish gut. Calcium-fortified fresh milk ameliorates postmenopausal osteoporosis via regulation of bone metabolism and gut microbiota in ovariectomized rats

The aging of the global population has made postmenopausal osteoporosis prevention essential;however,pharmacological treatments are ***,we evaluate the effect of calcium-fortified fresh milk(FM)in ameliorating postmenopausal osteoporosis in a rat model established using bilateral *** 3 months of FM(containing vitamin D,and casein phosphopeptides,1000 mg Ca/100 g)or control milk(110 mg Ca/100 g milk)supplementation,bone changes were assessed using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry,microcomputed tomography,and bone biomechanical *** results revealed that FM can regulate bone metabolism and gut microbiota composition,which act on bone metabolism through pathways associated with steroid hormone biosynthesis,relaxin signaling,serotonergic synapse,and unsaturated fatty acid ***,FM administration significantly increased bone mineral content and density in the lumbar spine and femur,as well as femoral compressive strength,while improving femoral trabecular bone parameters and ***,we found that the effects may be due to increased levels of estrogen,bone formation marker osteocalcin,and procollagen typeⅠN-propeptide,and decreased expression of the bone resorption marker C-telopiptide and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase ***,the findings suggest that FM is a potential alternative therapeutic option for ameliorating postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Sulfate adsorption is one of the factors that cause the poisoning of catalyst in the low-temperature NH_(3) selective catalytic reduction reaction(NH_(3)-SCR).In this paper,by controlling the co-adsorption time of SO_(2) and O_(2) at 150℃,a range of sulfated MnCeOx catalysts with different contents of metal sulfate species were prepared to reveal the influence of metal sulfate species content on the catalytic performances and reaction mechanisms at low *** catalytic activity below 250℃rapidly decreases with increasing metal sulfate species *** results of characterizations shed light on the reduction of specific surface area,Mn^(4+)and Ce^(3+)content,and redox ability of MnCeOx owing to the formation of metal sulfate *** experiments reveal that metal sulfate species preferentially absorb on MnOx domains rather than on CeO_(2) domains,and the adsorbed metal sulfate species can suppress the Eley-Rideal and the Langmuir-Hinshelwood reaction mechanisms over the sulfated *** the above results are detrimental to the activity of sulfated MnCeOx in the low-temperature NH3-SCR reaction.

The ab initio Calculation of Electric Field Gradient at the Site of P Impurity in α-Al_(3)O_(2)

An ab initio calculation of the electric-field gradient(EFG)at the site of a phosphorous impurity substituting an Al atom in α-Al_(3)O_(2) is carried out using the WIEN2k code with the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital method(LAPW+lo)in the frame of density functional *** atomic lattice relaxations caused by the implanted impurities were calculated for two different charged states to well describe the electronic structure of the doped *** EFG at the site of the phosphorous impurity in the charged supercell calculated with the exchange-correlation potential of the Wu-Cohen generalized gradient approximation(WC-GGA)is 0.573×10^(21) V/m^(2).Then,the nuclear quadrupole moment of the I=3 state in ^(28)P is deduced to be 137 mb from the quadrupole interaction frequency of 190 kHz measured recently by theβ-NQR method.
