Bilayer Compounded Polytetrafluoroethylene Membrane for Enhanced Oil-Water Emulsion Separation

In order to achieve efficient and durable oil-water emulsion separation,the membranes possessing high separation efficiency and mechanical strength attract extensive attention and are in great *** present study,a kind of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)-based bilayer membrane was fabricated by electrospinning fibrous PTFE(fPTFE)on an expanded PTFE(ePTFE)*** morphological observation revealed that the fibrous structure of the fPTFE layer could be tailored by controlling the formulation of spinning *** addition of appropriate polyoxyethylene(PEO)would make the fibers in the fPTFE layer finer and more *** a result,the compounded membrane exhibited a small pore size of approximately 1.2.µm and a substantial porosity nearing 80%.This led to super-hydrophobicity,characterized by a high water contact angle(WCA)of 149.8°,and facilitated rapid oil *** water-in-oil emulsion separation experiment further confirmed that the compounded membrane not only had a high separation efficiency closing 100%,but such an outstanding separation capacity could be largely retained,either through multiple cycles of use or through strong acid(pH=1),strong alkali(pH=12.,or high-temperature(100°C)***,the mechanical behavior of the bilayer membrane was basically contributed by that of each layer in terms of their volume *** significantly,the poor creep resistance of fPTFE layer was suppressed by compounding with ePTFE ***,this study has laid the groundwork for a novel approach to create PTFE-based compounded membranes with exceptional overall characteristics,showing promise for applications in the realm of emulsion separation.

Vaccines have proven effective in protecting populations against COVID-19,including the recombinant COVID-19 vaccine(Sf9 cells),the first approved recombinant protein vaccine in *** this positive-controlled trial with 85 adult participants(Sf9 cells group:n=44;CoronaVac group:n=41),we evaluated the safety,immunogenicity,and protective effectiveness of a heterologous boost with the Sf9 cells vaccine in adults who had been vaccinated with the inactivated vaccine,and found a post-booster adverse events rate of 2..45%in the Sf9 cells group and 31.71%in the CoronaVac group(p=0.2.9),within 2. days after booster *** group reported any severe adverse *** the Sf9 cells vaccine booster,the geometric mean titer(GMT)of binding antibodies to the receptor-binding domain of prototype SARS-CoV-2.on day 2. post-booster was significantly higher than that induced by the CoronaVac vaccine booster(100,683.37 vs.9,451.69,p2.viruses(prototype and diverse variants of concern[VOCs])increased by 2..2.–75.93 folds from baseline to day 2. post-booster,while the CoronaVac group showed increases of only 3.2.–10.70 ***,neutralizing antibodies against live SARS-CoV-2.viruses(prototype and diverse VOCs)increased by 68.18–192.67 folds on day 14 post-booster compared with the baseline level,significantly greater than the CoronaVac group(19.67–37.67 folds).A more robust Th1 cellular response was observed with the Sf9 cells booster on day 14 post-booster(mean IFN-γ+spot-forming cells per 2.1.5 peripheral blood mononuclear cells:2..66 vs.13.59).Protective effectiveness against symptomatic COVID-19 was approximately twice as high in the Sf9 cells group compared to the CoronaVac group(68.18%vs.36.59%,p=0.004).Our study findings support the high protective effectiveness of heterologous boosting with the recombinant COVID-19 vaccine(Sf9 cells)against symptomatic COVID-19 of dive

Recent clinical studies have shown that mutation of phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10(PTEN)gene in cancer cells may be associated with immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment(TME)and poor response to immune checkpoint blockade(ICB)***,efficiently restoring PTEN gene expression in cancer cells is critical to improving the responding rate to ICB ***,we screened an adeno-associated virus(AAV)capsid for efficient PTEN gene delivery into B16F10 tumor *** demonstrated that intratumorally injected AAV6-PTEN successfully restored the tumor cell PTEN gene expression and effectively inhibited tumor progression by inducing tumor cell immunogenic cell death(ICD)and increasing immune cell ***,we developed an anti-PD-1 loaded phospholipid-based phase separation gel(PPSG),which formed an in situ depot and sustainably release anti-PD-1 drugs within 42.days in *** order to effectively inhibit the recurrence of melanoma,we further applied a triple therapy based on AAV6-PTEN,PPSG^(@anti-PD-1)and CpG,and showed that this triple therapy strategy enhanced the synergistic antitumor immune effect and also induced robust immune memory,which completely rejected tumor *** anticipate that this triple therapy could be used as a new tumor combination therapy with stronger immune activation capacity and tumor inhibition efficacy.

Investigating the causal associations between five anthropometric indicators and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease:Mendelian randomization study

BACKGROUND Although the etiology of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)has not been thoroughly understood,the emerging roles of anthropometric indicators in assessing and predicting the risk of NAFLD have been highlighted by accumulating *** To evaluate the causal relationships between five anthropometric indicators and NAFLD employing Mendelian randomization(MR)*** The Anthropometric Consortium provided genetic exposure data for five anthropometric indicators,including hip circumference(HC),waist circumference(WC),waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),body mass index(BMI),and body fat percentage(BF).Genetic outcome data for NAFLD were obtained from the United Kingdom Biobank and FinnGen ***-wide significant single nucleotide polymorphisms were chosen as instrumental *** MR(UVMR)and multivariable MR(MVMR)designs with analytical approaches,including inverse variance weighted(IVW),MR-Egger,weighted median(WM),and weighted mode methods,were used to assess the causal relationships between anthropometric indicators and *** Causal relationships were revealed by UVMR,indicating that a higher risk of NAFLD was associated with a perunit increase in WC[IVW:odds ratio(OR)=2.67,95%CI:1.42.5.02.P=2.2.×10^(−3)],and BF was causally associated with an increased risk of NAFLD(WM:OR=2.2.,95%CI:1.07-4.66,P=0.033).The presence of causal effects of WC on the decreased risk of NAFLD was supported by MVMR after adjusting for BMI and ***,no causal association between BF and NAFLD was *** addition,other causal relationships of HC,WHR(BMI adjusted),and BMI with the risk of NAFLD were not retained after FDR *** This study establishes a causal relationship,indicating that an increase in WC is associated with a higher risk of *** demonstrates that a suitable decrease in WC is advantageous for preventing NAFLD.

Systemic immune monitoring is a crucial clinical tool for disease early diagnosis,prognosis and treatment planning by quantitative analysis of immune ***,conventional immune monitoring using flow cytometry faces huge challenges in large-scale sample testing,especially in mass health screenings,because of time-consuming,technical-sensitive and high-cost ***,the lack of high-performance detection platforms hinders the development of high-throughput immune monitoring *** address this bottleneck,we constructed a generally applicable DNA framework signal amplification platform(DSAP)based on post-systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment and DNA tetrahedral framework-structured probe design to achieve high-sensitive detection for diverse immune cells,including CD4+,CD8+T-lymphocytes,and monocytes(down to 1/100μl).Based on this advanced detection platform,we present a novel high-throughput immune-cell phenotyping system,DSAP,achieving 30-min one-step immune-cell phenotyping without cell washing and subset analysis and showing comparable accuracy with flow cytometry while significantly reducing detection time and *** a proof-of-concept,DSAP demonstrates excellent diagnostic accuracy in immunodeficiency staging for 107 HIV patients(AUC>0.97)within 30 min,which can be applied in HIV infection monitoring and ***,we initially introduced promising DSAP to achieve high-throughput immune monitoring and open robust routes for point-of-care device development.
