Simplified seismic scenario analysis of existing masonry buildings accounting for local site effects

This study discusses the effects of local sites and hazard amplification on the seismic vulnerability assessment of existing masonry *** this context,a rapid seismic evaluation procedure was implemented on an old masonry building stock in the historical center galata,located inİstanbul,to determine the seismic risk priority of the built *** scenarios were generated for all soil classes,different moment magnitudes,and source-to-site distances to obtain more accurate results for the seismic vulnerability assessment of the studied building ***,damage distributions estimated under nine different scenarios with/without site effects were compared and illustrated in maps to discuss changes in vulnerability owing to amplification *** this study,by re-examining the rapid seismic evaluation procedure by including geo-hazard-based assessment,the importance of site effects on the vulnerability and risk assessment of built heritage was *** proposed framework integrating field data and local site effects is believed to advance the current applications for vulnerability assessment of masonry buildings and provide an improvement in the application of rapid seismic assessment procedures with more reliable results.

Meeting the demands of complex and advanced applications requires the development of high-performance hybrid materials with unique ***,the integration of polymeric frameworks with MgO/WO_(3) composite layers faces challenges due to the lack of understanding of the formation mechanism and the challenge of determining the impact of self-assembled architecture on anticorrosive *** this study,we aimed to enhance the corrosion resistance of the MgO layer produced by plasma electrolysis(PE)of AZ31 Mg alloy by incorporating WO_(3) with partially phosphorated poly(vinyl alcohol)(PPVA).Two types of porous MgO layers were produced using the PE process with an alkaline-phosphate electrolyte,one with and one without WO_(3) nanoparticles,which were subsequently immersed in an aqueous solution of *** PPVA into the WO_(3)-MgO layer resulted in hybrids being deposited in a fragmented manner,creating a“laminar reef-like structure”that sealed most of the structural defects in the *** PPVA-sealed WO_(3)-based coating exhibited superior corrosion resistance compared to the other *** analyses were employed to explore the mechanism underlying the formation of PPVA/WO_(3) hybrids on the MgO *** findings suggest that PPVA-WO_(3)-MgO hybrid coatings can potentially improve corrosion resistance in various fields.

This letter emphasizes the need to expand discussions on gut microbiome’s role in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)and colorectal cancer(CRC)by including the often-overlooked non-bacterial components of the human gut *** highlights how viral,fungal and archaeal inhabitants of the gut respond towards gut dysbiosis and contribute to disease *** such as bacteriophages target certain bacterial species and modulate the immune *** viruses found associated include Epstein-Barr virus,human papillomavirus,John Cunningham virus,cytomegalovirus,and human herpes simplex virus type *** such as Candida albicans and Malassezia contribute by forming tissue-invasive filaments and producing inflammatory cytokines,***,mainly methanogens are also found altering the microbial fermentation *** correspondence,thus underscores the significance of considering the pathological and physiological mechanisms of the entire spectrum of the gut microbiota to develop effective therapeutic interventions for both IBD and CRC.

The world initiated a new era with the emergence of the Covid-19 *** all around the globe,including Turkey,was impacted to a great *** teachers and learners were required to adapt to online education within a short period of *** previous studies had focused on the impacts of teaching English in general for teachers and learners,studies focusing on teaching of the speaking skills online particularly in the Turkish context was absent in the ***,the gap which was to be considered appropriate for this research is related to comprehending the perceptions and challenges EFl teachers confronted while attempting to teach the speaking skills online within the Turkish *** article aims to have a theoretical contribution to the current research,in order to see the significance of the Turkish context,as online teaching of English speaking was to be considered beneficial for learners,as it increased confidence for the interaction.

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has a high incidence and mortality that epitomizes one of the prominent causes of cancer-related death *** therapeutic approaches are therefore *** oxygen species(ROS)are necessary for maintaining cell *** ROS is involved in HCC progression,hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)has anti-proliferative effect on ***:HCC Huh-7 cells were cultured and incubated with various concentrations of *** activity,levels of malondialdehyde,glutathione and protein oxidation were measured in treated and untreated Huh-7 ***,untreated and treated Huh-7 cells were subjected to two dimensional gel electrophoresis and identified protein spots which were differentially expressed by lC-MS/MS analysis.q RT-PCR was performed to validate the identified ***:H2O2 depleted glutathione(gSH)with the concomitant up-regulation of gSTP1 and Prx2.H2O2 also increased malondialdehyde and protein oxidation,decreased the activity of paraoxonase in Huh-7 ***:H2O2 could be used as a novel therapeutic agent that might be beneficial in inducing cell cytotoxicity and hence suppress HCC proliferation.

The detection of crack on materials is an important issue in *** the contrary to conventional methods,such as manual inspection,sensor detection,and image processing techniques,a new simple method to detect the crack is proposed with optical voice recorder based on digital holography in this *** obtained with sound waves passing through the materials are recorded by using the digital holography *** behavior of the sound wave passing through the material,which is obtained from these holograms,gives image of *** this article,cracks in various materials are determined by the proposed new method,and crack images obtained with this new system are presented.

Aim:The aim of this study was to explore and describe the lived experience of 3rd-year nursing students who participated in an online wellness coaching program during the COVID-19 pandemic ***:This qualitative research study on an online wellness coaching program included 30 female students,aged 21 to 30 years,who were confined to their home during the COVID-19 outbreak for two *** students were asked to describe their feelings and responses during the COVID-19 ***:Four thematic clusters emerged in the data analysis:what the students felt during the quarantine period,what the wellness coaching practice added to the students’lives,what changes resulted from the application and whether the students would like the application to continue and recommend the *** study showed that students had a high level of stress,fear and anxiety at home during the COVID-19 *** the online wellness coaching application,they experienced a decrease in social isolation,an improved ability to cope with stress,and improved positivity and ***:Findings from this study demonstrate that online wellness coaching during the COVID-19 quarantine has a positive effect on students’well-being.

Background： An important product of mevalonate pathway is downstream synthesis of isoprenoid unitsthat has long been implicated in development and progression of tumor. It has been speculated thatinhibition of protein prenylation might be therapeutically beneficial. The objective of current study wasto evaluate antitumor potential of a novel therapeutic combination of mevalonate pathway inhibitors, FTI-277 and alendronate. We also examined differentially expressed proteins in response to treatment usingproteomics approach.

The formation of inorganic-organic hybrids(IOH)on the metallic substrates would play a decisive role in improving their structural and functional *** this work,the growth of organic coating(OC)consisting of coumarin-3-carboxylic acid(3-CCA)and albumin(AlB)on the inorganic layer(IC),produced by plasma electrolysis of AZ31 Mg alloy,led to enabling organically synergistic reactions on the porous inorganic surface,forming a flake-like structure sealing the structural defects of *** actions between OC and IC endow the flake-like structures with chemical protection and photocatalytic *** contact with a corrosive solution,the IOH layer possesses stable morphologies that delay the corrosive degradation of the whole *** electrochemical stability of the sample produced by immersion IC in the organic solution for 10 h(IOH2 sample)was superior to the other samples as it had the lowest corrosion current density(1.69×10^(−10)A·cm^(−2))and the highest top layer resistance(1.2×10^(7)Ω·cm^(2)).moreover,the IOH layer can photodegrade the organic pollutants in model wastewater,where the highest photocatalytic efficiency of 99.47%was found in the IOH2 ***,computational calculations were performed to assess the relative activity of different parts of the AlB and 3-CCA structures,which provide helpful information into the formation mechanism of the IOH materials.
