Objective: To investigate TRPC 3 expression in left atria of spontaneous hypertensive rats. Method: 6 WKY rats were used as control group, 24 spontaneous hypertensive rats aged 16 weeks were divided in 4 groups, a group of spontaneous hypertensive rats, a group which received ramipril 5mg/kg/d, a group which received valsartan 30mg/kg/d and a group which received amlodipine 5mg/kg/d, each for duration of 4 weeks. Caudal systolic blood pressure and body weight were recorded each day. Expression of TRPC 3 was assessed with RT-PCR. The data are presented as the mean±SD and compared using paired samples T-test. Significance is determined at the p＜0.05 level. Result and conclusion: （1）. Significant increase of TRPC 3 expression of atria was highly related with increase of blood pressure （209.8717±0.99292 vs 0, p-value＜ 0.05）. （2）. Ramipril, valsartan and amlodipine （185.3983±12.91843, 134.2433±12.91843, 178.455±10.16149 vs 209.8717±0.99292, p-value＜0.05） showed to attenuate the density of TRPC 3 expression related to lowering blood pressure compare to SHR group. （3）. TRPC 6 wasn’t expressed in atria muscle either in WKY rats or in four months of SHR. Our findings support the idea that TRPC 3 has a role in atria of hypertensive heart disease.

Arabidopsis MSI1 has fundamental functions in plant development. MSI1 is a subunit of Polycomb group protein complexes and Chromatin assembly factor 1, and it interacts with the Retinoblastoma-related protein 1. Altered levels of MSI1 result in pleiotropic phenotypes, reflecting the complexity of MSI1 protein functions. In order to uncover additional functions of MSI1, we performed transcriptional profiling of wild-type and plants with highly reduced MSI1 levels （msil-cs）. Surprisingly, the known functions of MSI1 could only account for a minor part of the transcriptional changes in msil-cs plants. One of the most striking unexpected observations was the up-regulation of a subset of ABA-responsive genes eliciting the response to drought and salt stress. We report that MSI1 can bind to the chromatin of the drought-inducible downstream target RD20 and suggest a new role for MSI1 in the negative regulation of the Arabidopsis drought-stress response.

AIM： To investigate the association of polymorphisms of nur-related receptor 1 （Nurrl） and development of alcohol dependence in Mexican Americans. METHODS： Peripheral blood samples were collected from 374 alcoholic and 346 nonalcoholic Mexican Amer- icans; these two groups were sex- and age-matched. Sample DNA was extracted and genomic DNA was amplified by polymerase chain reaction. The -2922（C） 2-3 polymerase chain reaction products were digested with Sau96I, alleles of 1345（G/C）, and -1198（C/G） in the regulatory region as well as Ex＋132 （G/T/A/C） and Ex＋715（T/-） in exon 3 were studied by sequencing. RESULTS： The C2/C2, C2/C3, C3/C3 genotype distribu- tion of -2922（C） 2-3 was 34.4%, 38.2% and 27.5% in the nonalcoholic group compared to 23.3%, 51.2% and 25.4% in the alcoholic group （P = 0.001）. The C/C, C/G ,G/G genotype distribution of -1198（C/6） was 23.5%, 46.1% and 30.3% in the nonalcoholic group compared to 13.9%, 50.9% and 35.3% in the alcoholic group （P = 0.007）. However, the -1345 （G/C）, Ex3＋132（G/T/A/C） and Ex3＋715（T/-） alleles were not polymorphic in Mex- ican Americans, and all those studied had G/G, G/G and T/T genotype for these three alleles, respectively. The -2922（C） 2-3 did not show allele level difference be- tween alcoholic and nonalcoholic individuals, but -1198 （C/G） showed a significant allele frequency difference between alcoholic （39.3%） and nonalcoholic （46.6%） populations （P = 0.005）. Excluding obese individuals, significant differences were found at both genotypic and allelic levels for the -2922（C） 2-3 polymorphism （P = 0.000 and P = 0.049） and the -1198 （C/G） polymor- phism （P = 0.008 and P = 0.032） between nonobese alcoholics and nonobese controls. Excluding smokers, a significant difference was found only at the genotypic level for the -2922（C） 2-3 polymorphism （P = 0.037） between nonsmoking alcoholics and nonsmoking con- trols, but only at the allelic level for the -1198（C/G） polymorphism （P = 0.034）. Galectins(Gals)are evolutionarily conserved proteins that bind to b-galactoside containing *** expression of Gals is associated with the development,progression,and metastasis of different types of *** the 11 Gals identified in humans,the roles of Gal-1 and Gal-3 have been extensively investigated in various ***,we summarize the roles of overly expressed Gal-1 and Gal-3 in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).The overexpression of Gal-1 and Gal-3 correlates with tumor growth,HCC cell migration and invasion,tumor aggressiveness,metastasis,and poor prognosis.A potentially promising future treatment strategy for HCC may include the combination of immunotherapy with Gal-1 *** research is warranted to investigate targeting Gal-1 and Gal-3 for HCC treatment.
