Analysis of Anomalous Enhancement in TEC and Electron Density in the China Region Prior to the 17 March 2015 Geomagnetic Storm Based on Ground and Space Observations

Total Electron Content(TEC)and electron density enhancement were observed on the day before 17 March 2015 great storm in the China *** from ground-and space-based instruments are used to investigate the temporal and spatial evolution of the pre-storm *** enhancement was observed from 24°N to 30°N after 10:00 UT at 105°E,110°E and 115°E longitudes on March *** maximum magnitude of TEC enhancement was more than 10 TECU and the maximal relative TEC enhancement exceeded 30%.Compared with geomagnetic quiet days,the electron density of Equatorial Ionization Anomaly(EIA)northern peak from Swarm A/C satellites on March 16 was larger and at higher ***2 enhanced during 11:30—21:00 UT at Shaoyang Station and increased by 200%at~16:00 ***,TEC and electron density enhancement were not accompanied by a significant change of *** research has excluded some potential mechanisms as the main driving factors for storm-time density enhancements by establishing observational *** this paper,we observed pre-storm enhancement in electron density at different altitudes and Equatorial Electrojet(EEJ)strength results derived from ground magnetometers observations suggest an enhanced eastward electric field from the E region probably played a significant role in this event.

Exciton-polariton condensation is regarded as a spontaneous macroscopic quantum phenomenon with phase ordering and collective *** engineering artificial annular potential landscapes in halide perovskite semiconductor microcavities,we experimentally and theoretically demonstrate the room-temperature spontaneous formation of a coherent superposition of exciton-polariton orbital states with symmetric petal-shaped patterns in real space,resulting from symmetry breaking due to the anisotropic effective potential of the birefringent perovskite *** lobe numbers of such petal-shaped polariton condensates can be precisely controlled by tuning the annular potential *** petal-shaped condensates form in multiple orbital states,carrying locked alternating nphase shifts and vortex-anti vortex superposition cores,arising from the coupling of counterrotating exciton-polaritons in the confined circular *** geometrically patterned microcavity exhibits promise for realizing room-temperature topological polaritonic devices and optical polaritonic switches based on periodic annular potentials.

With the increasing penetration of renewable energy in power system,renewable energy power ramp events(REPREs),dominated by wind power and photovoltaic power,pose significant threats to the secure and stable operation of power *** paper presents an early warning method for REPREs based on long short-term memory(LSTM)network and fuzzy ***,the warning levels of REPREs are defined by assessing the control costs of various power control ***,the next 4-h power support capability of external grid is estimated by a tie line power predictionmodel,which is constructed based on the ***,considering the risk attitudes of dispatchers,fuzzy rules are employed to address the boundary value attribution of the early warning interval,improving the rationality of power ramp event early *** results demonstrate that the proposed method can generate reasonable early warning levels for REPREs,guiding decision-making for control strategy.

The arrival of surgical robots in high-end medical equipment is a landmark,and the realization of tactile sensation a major challenge in this important cutting-edge research *** to address this issue,we present ultra-sensitive ionic electronic skin in the form of flexible capacitive pressure sensors,which incorporate multistage bionic microstructures in ion gels for the purpose of monitoring the delicate operations of surgical ***,the ionic skin exhibits an ultra-high sensitivity of 9484.3 kPa-1(he sensitivity remains higher than 235 kPa-1in the wide range of 15-155 *** device has also achieved a detection limit as low as 0.12 Pa or,equivalently,0.31 mg,fast response within 24 ms,and high robustness(loading/unloading for 5000 cycles without fatigue).The sensor facilitates the challenging task of tele-operated robotic threading,which exceeds the human tactile perception limit when threading a *** have also confirmed that ionic skin can be used in robot-assisted invasive surgery,such as incision/resection of tissues and suturing of wounds,providing tactile information to surgeons to improve operation success *** flexible ionic skin is capable of conforming to the various shapes of robotic manipulators,thus has great promise for applications in robotic dexterous manipulation,prosthetics and human-machine interfaces.

Thermodynamic model of melt pond and its application during summer of 2010 in the central Arctic Ocean

A one-dimensional thermodynamic model of melt pond is established in this paper. The observation data measured in the summer of 2010 by the Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition （CHINARE-2010） are used to partially parameterize equations and to validate results of the model. About 85% of the incident solar radiation passed through the melt pond surface, and some of it was released in the form of sensible and latent heat. However, the released energy was very little （about 15%）, compared to the incident solar radiation. More than 58.6% of the incident energy was absorbed by melt pond water, which caused pond-covered ice melting and variation of pond water temperature. The simulated temperature of melt pond had a diurnal variation and its value ranged between 0.0~C and 0.3~C. The melting rate of upper pond-covered ice is estimated to be around two times faster than snow-covered ice. At same time, the change of melting rate was relatively quick for pond depth less than 0.4 m, while the melting rate kept relatively constant （about 1.0 cm/d） for pond depth greater than 0.4 m.

The authors studied variations of temperature and salinity in seawater under sea ice using hydrologic data collected from polynyas south of the *** Island during March of 2008 and *** results indicate that the high-salinity water found during the cruises of 2008 and 2009 was due to the formation of *** salinity observed in 2008 was higher than that in 2009 as a result of higher salt production in *** spatial distributions of high-salinity cores differed between the two *** March 2008, a southeastward flow was formed under the persistent northerly wind in the observation region, which transported the high-salinity water produced by the polynyas to the *** similar flow, however, did not exist in March 2009 because the northerly wind over the study area was interrupted by a southerly ***, the polynyas and the high-salinity water pro-duced by them existed for a short *** a result, the high-salinity water in 2009 did not spread very far, and stayed within the *** addition, during the 2009 cruise, two stages of observations in the polynyas showed the core of high-salinity water was shifted to the southwest of the *** *** result suggested that a southwestward flow might have existed in the area at the onset of the northerly wind, which was consistent with the alongshore and/or offshore flows caused by the northerly wind.

The excitation system of the homopolar inductor machine(HIM)is analyzed and designed to establish the design approach and evaluation criteria of the excitation *** finite element method is used to calculate the three-dimensional electromagnetic field in the HIM,and the distribution and characteristics of the magnetic field are *** analytical method is applied to investigate the design process of the excitation *** ratio of the axial length of the armature winding to the excitation winding and the ratio of the axial length of the working air-gap to the non-working air-gap are investigated by the numerical calculation method.A prototype HIM is designed and manufactured,and some experiments are implemented to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis and numerical calculation *** research results show that the established design method of the excitation winding is practical and *** the conditions of constant excitation magnetomotive force or constant excitation power,the optimum range of the axial length ratio of the armature winding and the excitation winding is 0.45 to *** optimal axial length of the non-working air-gap can be determined by the ratio of the stator inner diameter and pole-pairs.

Primary dendritic arm spacing(PDAS)is an important microstructure feature of the nickel-base single crystal *** this paper,a numerical model predicting the PDAS evolution with additive manufacturing parameters using pulsed laser is established,which combines the theoretical PDAS models with the temperature field calculation model during pulsed laser *** on this model,processing maps that related process parameters to the evolution of PDAS are *** obtain more accurate prediction model,the parameters of different solidification conditions,G^(-0.5)V^(-0.25) and G^(-0.5)V^(-0.25),are selected to calculate *** simulation results show that the PDAS increases as the arise of P and *** processmgPDAS map can accurately predict the evolution of PDAS with pulsed laser process parameters,which is well in accordance with the experimental ***,the PDAS values calculated by the G^(-0.5)V^(-0.25) are more in line with the experimental results than those calculated by the G^(-0.5)V^(-0.25).
