Forest ecosystems play a crucial role in mitigating global climate change by forming massive carbon sinks. Their carbon stocks and stock changes need to be quantified for carbon budget balancing and international reporting schemes. However, direct sampling and biomass weighing may not always be possible for quantification studies conducted in large forests. In these cases, indirect methods that use forest inventory information combined with remote sensing data can be beneficial. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images offer numerous opportunities to researchers as freely distributed remote sensing data. This study aims to estimate the amount of total carbon stock (TCS) in forested lands of the Kizildag Forest Enterprise. To this end, the actual storage capacities of five carbon pools, i.e. above- and below-ground, deadwood, litter, and soil, were calculated using the indirect method based on ground measurements of 264 forest inventory plots. They were then associated with the backscattered values from Sentinel-1 and ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 data in a Geographical Information System (GIS). Finally, TCS was separately modelled and mapped. The best regression model was developed using the HH polarization of ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 with an adjusted R^(2) of 0.78 (p lary data may provide more delicate and reliable estimations in the future. The petrographic composition of Cretaceous-age coals hosted in the Benue Trough,Nigeria is presented and discussed in terms of the paleodepositional settings that infuenced the coal-bearing *** Benue Trough is a failed arm of the triple junction of an inland sedimentary basin that extends in a NE-SW direction from the Gulf of Guinea in the south,to the Chad Basin in the north.A total of twenty-nine(29)coal samples were obtained from nineteen coal localities in the Upper(UBT),Middle(MBT),and Lower Benue Trough(LBT).The high average volatile matter yield,low average ash yield,high calorifc value(24.82 MJ/kg,on average),and low sulphur values indicate good quality coal *** organic matter is dominated by vitrinite,reported at an average of 59.3%by volume(mineral-matter free).Variation was noted in the inertinite content across three *** macerals were not commonly observed in the studied samples and were absent in the MBT *** facies studies decipher the paleoenvironmental conditions under which the vegetation *** commonly used are the gelifcation index(GI),tissue preservation index(TPI),ground water index(GWI and variations),vegetation index(VI),and wood index(WI).Comparing the array of coal facies models applied,the MBT samples difer from the UBT and LBT samples,concurring with the coal quality *** UBT and LBT coals formed in an upper deltaic to drier piedmont plane depositional environment,while the MBT coal formed in a lower deltaic marsh to wet forest swamp depositional *** samples indicate an ombrotrophic *** view of the modifed equations and the plots used,interpreting depositional environments from just a single model is not reliable.

In this study, environmental and economic examinations of Liquefied Natural Gas(LNG) investments are conducted. A year-long noon report data is received from a container ship and LNG conversion is performed. Savings from both the fuel expenses and the amount of the emissions are calculated and presented. To eliminate the fuel consumption uncertainties in future operation periods of the stated ship, different scenarios that simulate various fuel consumption statuses are created and analyzed within the Monte Carlo Simulation method. Lastly, calculations are made with two different time prices, approx. one and half year apart. As a result of the analyses, LNG can provide high environmental benefits since it reduces 99% for SOx, 95% for PM10, 95% for PM2.5, 41% for CO2, and 82% for NOx, respectively. It is also determined that LNG investment is highly sensitive to fuel prices. In addition, the LNG usage can be beneficial for maritime companies in terms of marine policies such as paying carbon tax based on the expanding European Union Emission Trade System to maritime business. Still, it needs supportive carbon reduction method to comply with the maritime decarbonization strategy. This study has great importance in that the economic analysis way presented is able to adapt any alternative fuel system conversion for the maritime industry.

The influence of ultrasonic degassing process on fluidity and hardness of secondary Al7Si0.3Mg alloy castings was studied by Weibull analysis. This work makes a contribution about fluidity and hardness distribution of secondary aluminum alloys with ultrasonic degassing phenomena using a two-parameter form of Weibull analysis. Results show that both hardness and fluidity of alloy are improved after the ultrasonic degassing process. Average efficiency of ultrasonic degassing on fluidity measurements is 31.71%, whereas on hardness values is 8.48%. The Brinell hardness of 45.7 and fluidity of 19.5 of Weibull modulus were achieved as the most reliable and reproducible after 45 s ultrasonic degassing process against 15 s and 30 s ultrasonic degassing processes. The value of 70.08 HB is obtained from ultrosonic degassing, which is equivalent to sand casting of primary Al7Si0.3Mg aluminum alloy, and the highest value of 56.4 cm for 45 s after ultrasonic degassing of fluidity was measured.

BACKGROUND: Despite the rapid development of pediatric intensive care medicine, there are still limited data in the literature regarding the follow-up of pediatric trauma patients in pediatric intensive care units(PICUs). In this study, we aim to evaluate our experience with children admitted and followed up with the diagnosis of trauma at our ***: We evaluated the retrospective data of 77 pediatric trauma patients who were admitted to the PICU at Sancaktepe Sehit Prof. Dr. IlhanVarank Training and Research Hospital from August 2020 to December 2022. The demographic data, clinical parameters and laboratory results were recorded. The primary outcome was the mortality in PICU. The performances of markers in predicting mortality were evaluated with receiver operating characteristic(ROC) ***: The median age of the patients was 70(33–157) months, and the median duration of hospitalization in the PICU was 6(2–11) d. Of the 77 patients, 9 died due to trauma(11,1%). Among the clinical parameters, Pediatric Risk of Mortality III(PRISM III) Score, inotrope requirement, extracorporeal treatment requirement, and mechanical ventilator requirement were significantly higher in non-survivors than in survivors. Among the laboratory parameters, procalcitonin(PCT), lactate/albumin ratio(lar), neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio(NLR), and transfusion requirement were significantly higher in non-survivors than in ***: In pediatric trauma patients, baseline PCT, lar, and NLR values can be used to identify patients at risk for mortality.
