Esophageal adenocarcinoma is the most rapidly growing cancer in *** the prognosis after diagnosis is unfavorable,the chance of a successful outcome increases tremendously if detected early while the lesion is still ***,the present standard-of-care,endoscopic surveillance,has major limitations,since dysplasia is invisible,often focal,and systematic biopsies typically sample less than one percent of the esophageal lining and therefore easily miss *** solve this problem we developed a multispectral light scattering endoscopic imaging *** surveys the entire esophageal lining and accurately detects subcellular dysplastic *** system combines light scattering spectroscopy,which detects and identifies invisible dysplastic sites by analyzing light scattered from epithelial cells,with rapid scanning of the entire esophageal lining using a collimated broadband light beam delivered by an endoscopically compatible fiber optic *** we report the results of the first comprehensive multispectral imaging study,conducted as part of routine endoscopic procedures performed on patients with suspected *** a double-blind study that characterized the system’s ability to serve as a screening tool,55 out of 57 patients were diagnosed *** addition,a smaller double-blind comparison of the multispectral data in 24 patients with subsequent pathology at locations where 411 biopsies were collected yielded an accuracy of 90%in detecting individual locations of dysplasia,demonstrating the capability of this method to serve as a guide for biopsy.

Usefulness of Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF) Loaded Dissolving microneedles for Local Therapy of Skin Wounds

Purpose: The usefulness of dissolving microneedles (Dms) for local skin therapy by basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) was studied in rats. methods: We prepared four kinds of bFGF-loaded Dms, approximately 500 μm length and 300 μm diameter at the bottom. Long-term stability and dissolution studies were performed by HPLC method. Pharmacokinetic and pharmacological evaluations were performed after administration of bFGF loaded Dms to rats. Results: The bFGF contents were 2.15 ± 0.07, 1.07 ± 0.04, 0.56 ± 0.07 and 0.12 ± 0.03 μg. The 100.2 ± 3.4%, 100.2 ± 3.3%, 99.3 ± 1.4% and 100.4 ± 3.0% of bFGF were recovered after 1, 3 and 6 months and 1 year incubation at 40°C. The bFGF was released from Dms within 5 min. In a pharmacokinetic study using 2.0 and 1.0 μg bFGF-loaded Dms, no systemic exposure of bFGF was detected. The initial bFGF concentrations in the rat skin tissue after administration of bFGF-loaded Dms to the hair-removed rat abdominal skin were 510.2 ± 20.1 ng/g wet weight for 2 μg bFGF Dms and 264.2 ± 56.5 ng/g wet weight for 1 μg Dms, declining slowly thereafter to 226.3 ± 33.5 and 105.1 ± 27.4 ng/g wet weight at 6 hr after administration. Good dose-dependency was observed. Pharmacological evaluation of bFGF-loaded Dms of 2.0, 1.0, 0.5, and 0.1 μg, in the wound healing rat model, all used Dms, but 0.1 μg Dms, showed good healing effects. Considered collectively, these results suggest the usefulness of bFGF-loaded Dms for local therapy of skin wound disease.

The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory(LHAASO)(Fig.1)is located at ***(4410 m a.s.l.,600 g/cm^(2),29°21'27.56"N,100°08'19.66"E)in Daocheng,Sichuan province,*** consists of 1.3 km^(2) array(Km2A)of electromagnetic particle detectors(ED)and muon detectors(mD),a water Cherenkov detector array(WCDA)with a total active area of 78,000 m^(2),18 wide field-of-view air Cherenkov telescopes(WFCTA)and a newly proposed electron-neutron detector array(ENDA)covering 10,000 m^(2).Each detector is synchronized with all the other through a clock synchronization network based on the White Rabbit *** observatory includes an IT center which comprises the data acquisition system and trigger system,the data analysis *** this Chapter,all the above-mentioned components of LHAASO as well as infrastructure are described.

埃洛石纳米管是一种天然的硅酸盐管状材料,内径15-20 nm,外径50-70 nm,可在内部负载药物、催化剂等小分子或低分子量物质来达到缓释的效果。利用埃洛石纳米管负载防污剂N-(2,4,6-三氯苯基)马来酰亚胺(TCPm)制备具有防污性能的弹性体:乙烯-醋酸乙烯酯共聚物(EVA)。将防污剂装载到埃洛石管腔内,可达到缓慢释放的效果,大大延长防污剂的作用时间。实验证明,负载在埃洛石内部的防污剂在EVA基体中的缓释时间超过12个月,远大于将防污剂直接添加到EVA中。此外作为填料,埃洛石可以提高热塑性弹性体EVA的机械性能及结晶度等,具有良好的应用前景。

Coseismic Effects of the 2011 magnitude 9.0 Tohoku-Oki Earthquake measured at Far East Russia Continental Coast by Gravity and GPS methods

This work presents the results of complex gravity observation performed at Shults Cape, Gamov peninsula (42.58°N, 131.15°E), Russia. Absolute laser gravimeter GABL type and Scintrex type relative gravimeter were used for measurement. To investigate the accuracy of tidal corrections we compared the observed tidal parameters of the main tidal waves O1 and m2 with modeled ones computed from 6 different ocean tidal models: CSR4, FES02, FES04, GOT00, NAO99 and TPX06. After discussion a theoretical model based on TPX06 ocean tides model and DDW99 non hydrostatic body tides model was used for tidal correction of absolute gravity data. Preliminary estimate of gravity effect induced by the Tohoku-Oki earthquake of11 march 2011mw = 9.0 at Primorye territory (Russia) was found to be 5.1 ± 2.0 μGal. Co-seismic crustal displacements revealed by GPS data at Far EastRussiacontinental coast are also investigated. Volumetric dilatation of this area is observed at +1.7 × 10-8 level.

The intensification of anthropic uses (i.e., increase of the hemerobic condition) threatens the remnants of native vegetation due to the reduction of its self-regulation capacity. In this research, the Distance to Nature (D2N) index for land use and land cover was applied in the Río Grande de Comitán watershed (Southern mexico) to answer the following questions: 1) What were the land use dynamics observed in the Rio Grande de Comitán watershed in the trajectory through 1999, 2009 and 2019? 2) Does the subcategorization of the D2N allow one to identify which anthropic uses influence more the territorial expression of the watershed? To answer these questions, we performed a supervised classification of land use and land cover was performed in this watershed, and for the D2N index, the classification was simplified to three-category scale for the subcategorization of the anthropic component. Through Principal Component Analysis (PCA), we identified that agricultural anthropogenic use had the greatest influence on territorial expression. The reported scenario indicates a trend of gradual and continuous reduction of naturalness over the last 20 years. Additionally, the D2N index proved to be a useful tool to demonstrate both the anthropic impact, with the simplified scale, and the component that most influences the territory, by subcategorizing the anthropic scale.

Role of sex hormones in gastrointestinal motility in pregnant and non-pregnant rats

AIm: To correlate gastric contractility, gastrointestinal transit, and hormone levels in non-pregnant(estrous cycle) and pregnant rats using noninvasive techniques. mETHODS: Female rats(n = 23) were randomly divided into(1) non-pregnant,(contractility, n =6; transit, n = 6); and(2) pregnant(contractility, n = 5; transit, n = 6). In each estrous cycle phase or at 0, 7, 14, and 20 d after the confirmation of pregnancy, gastrointestinal transit was recorded by AC biosusceptometry(ACB), and gastric contractility was recorded by ACB and electromyography. After each recording, blood samples were obtained for progesterone and estradiol determination. RESULTS: In the estrous cycle, despite fluctuations of sex hormone levels, no significant changes in gastrointestinal motility were observed. Days 7 and 14 of pregnancy were characterized by significant changes in the frequency of contractions(3.90 ± 0.42 cpm and 3.60 ± 0.36 cpm vs 4.33 ± 0.25 cpm) and gastric emptying(168 ± 17 min and 165 ± 15 min vs 113 ± 15 min) compared with day 0. On these same days, progesterone levels significantly increased compared with control(54.23 ± 15.14 ng/m L and 129.96 ± 30.52 ng/mL vs 13.25 ± 6.31 ng/mL). On day 14, we observed the highest level of progesterone and the lowest level of estradiol compared with day 0(44.3 ± 15.18 pg/mL vs 24.96 ± 5.96 pg/mL). CONCLUSION: Gastrointestinal motility was unaffected by the estrous cycle. In our data, high progesterone and low estradiol levels can be associated with decreased contraction frequency and slow gastric emptying.
