Dual-aligned porous electrodes for enhanced hydrogen evolution in alkaline water electrolysis

The efficiency of water electrolysis is significantly affected by the bubbles on the surface and inside the *** enhance the gas-liquid transfer within the porous electrodes,we developed an innovative design termed dual-aligned porous electrode(D-APE),achieved by integrating magnetic alignment with freeze casting *** paper investigates the hydrogen evolution performance of porous electrodes prepared using four different methods:evaporation,magnetic-aligned evaporation,freeze casting,and dual-aligned *** findings demonstrate that the magnetic-aligned process effectively alters the electrode structure,resulting in improved hydrogen evolution ***,among all the examined electrodes,the D-APE exhibits the highest hydrogen evolution performance,with further enhancements observed with prolonged the time of magnetic ***,a comparison is made between electrodes prepared using the freeze casting method and the dual-aligned method at various *** results show that the thinner D-APE exhibits excellent hydrogen evolution performance at high current ***,the D-APE demonstrates significantly improved material utilization rates compared to the conventional freeze casting method,offering promising prospects for enhancing the efficiency of water electrolysis.

For the basins with debris flow development,its channel terrain exhibits a tortuous shape,which significantly restricts the movement of debris flows and leads to severe erosion effects on the concave ***,this study aims to analyze the shear force of debris flows within the bend *** established the relationship between the shear force and bend curvature through laboratory *** the long-term erosion by debris flows,the curvature radius of bends gradually increases,however,when this increasing trend reaches an equilibrium state with the intensity of debris flow discharge,there will be no significant change in curvature *** general,the activity pattern and discharges of debris flows would remain relatively ***,we can infer the magnitude of debris flow discharges from the terrain parameters of the bend channel.

Polymer-based circularly polarized luminescence(CPL)materials with the advantage of diversified structure,easy fabrication,high thermal stability,and tunable properties have garnered considerable ***,adequate and precise tuning over CPL in polymer-based materials remains challenging due to the difficulty in regulating chiral ***,visualized full-color CPL is achieved by doping red,green,and blue quantum dots(QDs)into reconfigurable blue phase liquid crystal elastomers(BPLCEs).In contrast to the CPL signal observed in cholesteric liquid crystal elastomers(CLCEs),the chiral 3D cubic superstructure of BPLCEs induces an opposite CPL ***,this effect is entirely independent of photonic bandgaps(PBGs)and results in a high glum value,even without matching between PBGs and the emission bands of ***,the lattice structure of the BPLCEs can be reversibly switched via mechanical stretching force,inducing on-off switching of the CPL signals,and these variations can be further fixed using dynamic disulfide bonds in the ***,the smart polymer-based CPL systems using the BPLCEs for anti-counterfeiting and information encryption have been demonstrated,suggesting the great potential of the BPLCEs-based CPL active materials.

Maillard reaction(MR)is a non-enzymatic browning reaction commonly seen in food processing,which occurs between reducing sugars and compounds with amino *** certain advantages based on Maillard reaction products(MRPs)found in some food for health and storage application have appeared,however,the MR occurring in human physiological environment can produce advanced glycation end products(AGEs)by non-enzymatic modification of macromolecules such as proteins,lipids and nucleic acid,which could change the structure and functional activity of the molecules *** this review,we take AGEs as our main object,on the one hand,discuss physiologic aging,that is,age-dependent covalent cross-linking and modification of proteins such as collagen that occur in eyes and skin containing connective *** the other hand,pathological aging associated with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases,neurodegenerative diseases,diabetes and diabetic nephropathy,cardiovascular diseases and bone degenerative diseases have been mainly *** on the series of adverse effects of accelerated aging and disease pathologies caused by MRPs,the possible harm caused by some MR can be slowed down or inhibited by artificial drug intervention,dietary pattern and lifestyle *** also stimulates people's curiosity to continue to explore the potential link between the MR and human aging and health,which should be paid more attention to for the development of life sciences.

Extensive research efforts have revealed that the Martian dust storms can perturb the upper atmospheric condition and as a consequence, enhance plasma density and photoelectron flux in the ionosphere. However, previous observational studies of the Martian dust storm impacts have been restricted to regions below 400 km, which limits our understanding of the Martian dust storm effects in the upper ionosphere and magnetosphere. here, based on the suprathermal electron measurements made by the Solar Wind Electron Analyzer onboard the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution, we identify with an automatic procedure the occurrences of all photoelectron boundary (PEB) crossings at solar zenith angle below 120°(with a dust-free median altitude of about 600 km). Using the dayside PEB as a proxy of the upper ionospheric and magnetospheric condition, we analyze the variations of the PEB altitude during the 2018 global dust storm (GDS) of Mars Year 34 (MY34) and compare them with the period in MY33 when there was no global dust storm. We conclude that the column dust optical depth (CDOD) emerges as one of the main driving factors for PEB altitude variations during the GDS. Our analysis implies that the GDS can affect the Martian upper atmosphere and ionosphere over considerable distances and extended time scales.
