Long-Term Outcome and Risk Factor Analysis of Surgical Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Congenital Heart Disease

Objectives:To establish long-term outcome of surgical pulmonary valve replacement(PVR)in congenital heart disease(CHD)and to identify risk factors for overall mortality,operative mortality,and repetitive ***:This is a retrospective study of 375 surgical PVR in 293 patients who underwent surgical PVR for CHD between January 2000 and May *** only included patients with index PVR with previous open-heart surgery regardless of the number of *** previous surgical history of patients who underwent PVR during the study period was also *** who underwent the Rastelli operation,and those who underwent single PVR without previous open-heart surgery were ***:The median age of the patients at the time of surgical PVR was 14.9 years(Interquartile range,IQR,11.0–22.0).The median follow-up duration was 10.5 years(IQR,5.5–14.8 years).There were 3 patients with operative mortality(1.0%)and 15 patients with overall mortality(5.1%).The survival rate was 95.1%over 20 years follow-up *** analysis demonstrated that more than 3 times of previous open-heart surgeries before surgical PVR,older age at the first operation,longer cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB)time and longer intensive care unit(ICU)stay were predictors for overall *** who underwent surgical PVR after more than 3 times of previous open-heart surgeries had significantly higher mortality than those who underwent open-heart surgeries less than 3 times(P<0.001).Age younger than 10 years,male,multiple valve problems and longer ICU stay were significant predictors for repetitive PVR by multivariate ***:Though surgical PVR has excellent long-term outcome,it should be performed with caution for those who previously underwent multiple open-heart surgeries,especially if patient received more than 3 times of open-heart surgeries.

Type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) have emerged as key regulators of the immune response in renal inflammatory diseases such as lupus nephritis. However, the mechanisms underlying ILC2 adhesion and migration in the kidney remain poorly understood. Here, we revealed the critical role of integrin α4β7 in mediating renal ILC2 adhesion and function. We found that integrin α4β7 enables the retention of ILC2s in the kidney by binding to VCAM-1, E-cadherin, or fibronectin on structural cells. Moreover, integrin α4β7 knockdown reduced the production of the reparative cytokine amphiregulin (Areg) by ILC2s. In lupus nephritis, TLR7/9 signaling within the kidney microenvironment downregulates integrin α4β7 expression, leading to decreased Areg production and promoting the egress of ILC2s. Notably, IL-33 treatment upregulated integrin α4β7 and Areg expression in ILC2s, thereby enhancing survival and reducing inflammation in lupus nephritis. Together, these findings highlight the potential of targeting ILC2 adhesion as a therapeutic strategy for autoimmune kidney diseases.

The behavior of soil organisms inhabiting soil pore spaces can be influenced by soil compression,which can affect their avoidance behavior to *** this study,we aimed to evaluate the effect of soil compression on the avoidance behavior of Allonychiurus kimi(Collembola)to heavy metals cadmium and ***,to assess the applicability of the avoidance test guideline of the International Organization for Standardization(ISO)developed for Folsomia candida,we investigated the avoidance behavior of *** to cadmium and copper in an artificial soil with a loose structure(bulk density of 0.25 g cm^(-3)),the porous texture of which was sufficiently loose to enable *** to move between pore *** effect of soil compression on the avoidance behavior of *** to both metals was evaluated in compressed soil(bulk density of 0.64 g cm^(-3))with a uniformly compressed soil surface,and avoidance behavior was investigated at 24-h intervals over a 120-h *** that *** is unable to burrow into compressed soil,the compressed soil test can minimize the effects of differences in soil factors,such as soil porosity and bulk density,on the behavior of this *** the artificial soil,a statistically significant avoidance behavior of *** was observed at cadmium and copper concentrations greater than 50 and 200 mg kg^(-1),respectively,thereby indicating the applicability of the ISO avoidance test guidelines for *** compared at the same exposure time point,the avoidance response to both metals in compressed soil was less sensitive than that in uncompressed *** addition,we observed differences in the effects of metals on avoidance response in the compressed soil over time,with the effect of cadmium increasing with time and the effect of copper showing the opposite ***,we found that soil compression can affect the avoidance behavior of *** to cadmium and copper,and we discussed the advantages and limitations of using compressed

Root system architecture(RSA)is an important measure of how plants navigate and interact with the soil ***,current methods in studying RSA must make tradeoffs between precision of data and proximity to natural conditions,with root growth in germination papers providing accessibility and high data ***-structural plant models(FSPMs)can overcome this tradeoff,though parameterization and evaluation of FSPMs are traditionally based in manual measurements and visual ***,we applied a germination paper system to study the adventitious RSA and root phenology of Populus trichocarpa stem cuttings using time-series image-based phenotyping augmented by *** found a significant correlation between timing of root initiation and thermal time at cutting collection(P value=0.0061,R2=0.875),but little correlation with *** also present a use of RhizoVision[1]for automatically extracting FSPM parameters from time series images and evaluating FSPM simulations.A high accuracy of the parameterization was achieved in predicting 2D growth with a sensitivity rate of 83.5%.This accuracy was lost when predicting 3D growth with sensitivity rates of 38.5%to 48.7%,while overall accuracy varied with phenotyping *** this loss in accuracy,the new method is amenable to high throughput FSPM parameterization and bridges the gap between advances in time-series phenotyping and FSPMs.

The dual-cooled nuclear reactor is currently considered for improving the designs of current/future nuclear reactors. Investigation of the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of the nuclear reactor via experiments is essential for commercializing the dual-cooled nuclear reactor. In this paper, the turbulent flow in square arrayed six-rod bundles in the form of magnified copies of the dual-cooled and current OPR-1000 nuclear reactor is experimentally investigated by means of hot-wire anemometry and smoke-wire generation methods. Vortex trains which do not exist in an ordinary reactor subchannel are presented in the subchannel of the dual-cooled reactor. The vortices are induced by a span-wise velocity gradient. This flow pulsation phenomenon increases the inter-channel mixing of the subchannel. To understand the periodic feature of the pulsation, axial/cross velocities are measured and the periodic characteristic frequencies are obtained by a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analysis. The peak frequency that represents the quasi-periodic pulsation of the flow is increased with an increase in the axial velocity while the wavelength of the pulsation remains constant within a tested range of the Reynolds number (9000 51000). The vortex trains are highly synchronized with each other, as confirmed by means of visualization.

Lean production is a systemic approach to meeting customer expectations, whatever they value, by reducing *** fi rst glance, lean then could only contribute to sustainability, while sustainability is achieved only if the customervalues sustainability. The paper has two objectives. One is to examine whether sustainability is feasible using leanproduction with sustainability as an added value. The second objective is to examine how current lean constructiontools and methods impact the construction and operation of sustainable facilities. The authors also suggest how theselean construction tools and methods have evolved to contribute to green construction. For this study, the authorsinterviewed lean adopters and conducted literature surveys on lean principles and methods, and its impacts on theeconomic, social and environmental sustainability.

Mediator,a conserved multiprotein complex in animals,plants,and fungi,is a cofactor of RNA polymerase II(Pol II).It is known to promote basal Pol II-mediated transcription as well as bridge sequence-specific transcriptional regulators and Pol II to integrate regulatory *** II transcribes not only protein-coding genes but also intergenic regions to generate noncoding RNAs such as small RNAs(microRNAs and small interfering RNAs)and long noncoding ***,two plant-specific polymerases,Pol IV and Pol V,have evolved from Pol II and play a role in the production of small interfering RNAs and long noncoding RNAs at heterochromatic regions to maintain genome stability through transcriptional gene silencing(TGS).Recent studies have defined the composition of the plant Mediator and evaluated its role in noncoding RNA production in relationship to Pol II,Pol IV and Pol ***,we review the functions of Mediator and that of noncoding RNAs generated by Pol II,Pol IV and Pol V in plants,and discuss a role of Mediator in epigenetic regulation via noncoding RNA production.

In this study,a process for establishing design requirements and selecting alternative configurations for the conceptual phase of aircraft design has been *** proposed process uses system-engineering-based requirement-analysis techniques such as objective tree,analytic hierarchy process,and quality function deployment to establish logical and quantitative ***,in order to perform a logical selection of alternative aircraft configurations,it uses advanced decision-making methods such as morphological matrix and technique for order preference by similarity to the ideal *** addition,a preliminary sizing tool has been developed to check the feasibility of the established performance requirements and to evaluate the flight performance of the selected *** present process has been applied for a two-seater very light aircraft（VLA）,resulting in a set of tentative design requirements and two families of VLA configurations：a high-wing configuration and a low-wing *** resulting set of design requirements consists of three categories：customer requirements,certification requirements,and performance *** performance requirements include two mission requirements for the flight range and the endurance by reflecting the customer *** flight performances of the two configuration families were evaluated using the sizing tool developed and the low-wing configuration with conventional tails was selected as the best baseline configuration for the VLA.
