Plasma-metabolite-based machine learning is a promising diagnostic approach for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma investigation

The aim of this study was to develop a diagnostic strategy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)that combines plasma metabolomics with machine learning ***-based untargeted metabolomics analysis was performed with samples derived from 88 ESCC patients and 52 healthy *** dataset was split into a training set and a test *** identification of differential metabolites in training set,single-metabolite-based receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves and multiple-metabolite-based machine learning models were used to distinguish between ESCC patients and healthy ***-Meier survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards regression analysis were performed to investigate the prognostic significance of the plasma ***,twelve differential plasma metabolites(six up-regulated and six down-regulated)were *** predictive performance of the six most prevalent diagnostic metabolites through the diagnostic models in the test set were as follows:arachidonic acid(accuracy:0.887),sebacic acid(accuracy:0.867),indoxyl sulfate(accuracy:0.850),phosphatidylcholine(PC)(14:0/0:0)(accuracy:0.825),deoxycholic acid(accuracy:0.773),and trimethylamine N-oxide(accuracy:0.653).The prediction accuracies of the machine learning models in the test set were partial least-square(accuracy:0.947),random forest(accuracy:0.947),gradient boosting machine(accuracy:0.960),and support vector machine(accuracy:0.980).Additionally,survival analysis demonstrated that acetoacetic acid was an unfavorable prognostic factor(hazard ratio(HR):1.752),while PC(14:0/0:0)(HR:0.577)was a favorable prognostic factor for *** study devised an innovative strategy for ESCC diagnosis by combining plasma metabolomics with machine learning algorithms and revealed its potential to become a novel screening test for ESCC.

Parametric Vibration Analysis of submerged Floating Tunnel Tension Legs

Occurrence of early epilepsy in children with traumatic brain injury:a retrospective study

Background Early post-traumatic seizures(EPTS)refer to epileptic seizures occurring within one week after brain *** study aimed to define the risk factors of EPTS and the protective factors that could prevent its *** This is a single-center retrospective study in the PICU,Beijing Children's *** diagnosed with traumatic brain injury(TBI),admitted with and without EPTS between January 2016 and December 2020 were included in the *** We included 108 patients diagnosed with *** overall EPTS incidence was 33.98%(35/108).The correlation between EPTS and depressed fractures is positive(P=0.023).Positive correlations between EPTS and intracranial hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage had been established(P=0.011 and P=0.004,respectively).The detection rates of EPTS in the electroencephalogram(EEG)monitoring was 80.00%.There was a significant difference in the EEG monitoring rate between the two groups(P=0.041).Forty-one(37.86%,41/108)post-neurosurgical patients were treated with prophylactic antiepileptic drugs(AEDs),and eight(19.51%,8/41)still had *** statistical significance was noted between the two groups in terms of prophylactic AEDs use(P=0.519).Logistic regression analysis revealed that open craniocerebral injury and fever on admission were risk factors for EPTS,whereas,surgical intervention and use of hypertonic saline were associated with not developing *** Breakthrough EPTS occurred after severe TBI in 33.98%of pediatric cases in our *** is a higher seizure incidence than that reported *** with fever on admission and open craniocerebral injuries are more likely to develop EPTS.

Thrombosis is a global health issue and one of the leading factors of ***,its diagnosis has been limited to the late stages,and its therapeutic window is too narrow to provide reasonable and effective *** addition,clinical thrombolytics suffer from a short half-life,allergic reactions,inactivation,and unwanted tissue ***-medicines have gained extensive attention in diagnosis,drug delivery,and photo/sound/magnetic-theranostics due to their convertible ***,diagnosis and treatment of thrombosis using nano-medicines have also been widely *** review summarizes the recent advances in this area,which revealed six types of nanoparticle approaches:(1)in vitro diagnostic kits using“synthetic biomarkers”;(2)in vivo imaging using nano-contrast agents;(3)targeted drug delivery systems using artificial nanoparticles;(4)microenvironment responsive drug delivery systems;(5)drug delivery systems using biological nanostructures;and(6)treatments with external *** investigations of nano-medicines are believed to be of great significance,and some of the advanced drug delivery systems show potential applications in clinical theranotics.

Controllable Synthesis of a Well-defined Polypropylene grafted Silica Nanoparticles and Its Effect on Crystallization Behavior of Polypropylene

Well-defined polypropylene grafted silica nanoparticles(PP-g-SiO_(2))were prepared through the reaction of maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene(PP-g-MAH)with amino-functionalized silica(SiO_(2)-NH_(2))by the'grafting-to'*** grafting density of PP-g-SiO_(2) is found to be controlled by the concentration of silane coupling agent 3-[2-(2-aminoethylamino)ethyl amino]propyl trimethoxy silane(TAMS).The maximum grafting density of grafted PP-g-MAH chains with molecular weight of 9100 g/mol could reach 0.34 chains/nm~2,when the critical concentration of TAMS was 0.0194 mol/*** critical concentration of TAMS can be explained by the maximum amounts of primary amino groups,which can totally react with PP-g-MAH on the surface of SiO_(2)-NH_(2),when the silane monolayer is *** synthesized PP-g-SiO_(2)with different molecular weights was mixed with PP by solution mixing to form a series of *** crystallization temperature(T_(c))of nanocomposites increased significantly with the particle *** PP-g-SiO_(2) with high molecular weight of grafted chains exhibits a high nucleation ability at 1 wt%nanoparticle loading in PP/PP-g-SiO_(2)*** summary,we provide an effective method to synthesize the well-defined PP-g-SiO_(2)with controlled grafting density,which shows excellent nucleation ability.

Ion-absorbed rare earth ores radioactive residues(IREORR)are a class of waste residue from the production of rare earth elements(REEs).Because of its radioactive dose,IREORR are usually stored in waste *** are difficult to be disposed ***,it contains relatively high concentrations of REEs,which can be considered as a valuable secondary *** this paper,a novel process is developed for the separation of thorium(Th)and recovery of REEs from IREORR hydrochloric acid leachate with primary amine N1923 and Cyanex?572,*** effects of sulfate concentration,extractant concentration and pH on N1923 extraction in hydrochloric acid solution were investigated in *** results show that the extraction capacity of N1923 can be improved by adding sulfate to the solution and increasing the concentration of *** has little effect on the extraction of Th when pH is higher than *** for the stripping,REEs are more easily stripped from loaded organic phase than Th,and nitric acid is a better stripping agent than hydrochloric *** with the extraction of Cyanex■572 for REEs,a fractional extraction experiment for separating Th and enriching of REEs was *** yield of Th is higher than 99.9%and the concentration of REEs is enriched to 183.84 g/L.

Analysis of mechanical strengths of extreme line casing joint considering geometric, material, and contact nonlinearities

To address the challenges associated with difficult casing running,limited annular space,and poor cementing quality in the completion of ultra-deep wells,the extreme line casing offers an effective solution over conventional ***,due to its smaller size,the joint strength of extreme line casing is reduced,which may cause failure when running in the *** address this issue,this study focuses on the CST-ZTΦ139.7 mm×7.72 mm extreme line casing and employs the elastic-plastic mechanics to establish a comprehensive analysis of the casing joint,taking into account the influence of geometric and material nonlinearities.A finite element model is developed to analyze the forces and deformations of the extreme line casing joint under axial tension and external collapse *** model investigates the stress distribution of each thread tooth subjected to various tensile forces and external ***,the tensile strength and crushing strength of the extreme line casing joint are determined through both analytical and experimental *** findings reveal that,under axial tensile load,the bearing surface of each thread tooth experiences uneven stress,with relatively high equivalent stress at the root of each thread *** end thread teeth are valuable spots for *** is observed that the critical fracture axial load of thread decreases linearly with the increase of thread tooth *** external pressure,the circumferential stress is highest at the small end of the external thread,leading to yield *** tensile strength of the joint obtained from the finite element model exhibits a relative error of less than 7%compared to the analytical and experimental values,proving the reliability of the finite element *** tensile strength of the joint is 3091.9 k ***,in terms of anti-collapse capability,the joints demonstrate higher resistance to collapse compared to the casing body,which is consistent with the test resul

Influencing assessment of different heating modes on thermal comfort in electric vehicle cabin

Electric vehicle(EV)is more environmental-friendly than gasoline vehicle because the main power is not *** the heating system,the waste heat generated by engines is recycled to heat the cabin of gasoline ones,while the EV need extra electric energy consumption for heating the cabin which decreases the driving *** comfort system(PCS)has been reported that it is an alternative technique to improve occupant thermal comfort and indirectly save building heating *** study aims to investigate the occupants’thermal sensation under four heating modes in the EV cabin in winter,including no heating,only PCS,only air conditioning,and both air conditioning and *** field survey is conducted in a parked EV with 12 *** thermal comfort indexes(PMV,SET^(*),and operative temperature Top)are used and assessed for their applicability in the thermal environment of the *** show that the thermal environment in the cabin is non-uniform and dynamic with the air conditioning mode,while the PCS mode just slightly affects the temperature differences ***,the subjects’thermal sensations cannot maintain neutral or warmer under the PCS mode *** results of PMV are lower than the subjects’actual thermal sensation votes(TSV),while the results of SET^(*)and Top show significant linear relationships with the TSV for the correlation coefficients above *** to the air conditioning mode,the neutral SET^(*)and neutral Top are decreased by 2.7℃ and 1.6℃ under the mode with PCS and air conditioning,*** findings indicate that PCS not only has a positive effect on improving the cabin environment and occupant’s thermal sensation but also has the potential to lower the setting temperature of air conditioner of EVs in winter.

Teleporation of an Arbitrary Two-Particle State Without Bell-State Measurement in Cavity QED

A scheme for approximately conditional teleportation of an arbitrary two-particle state without Bell-state measurement in cavity QED is presented. The scheme involves four two-level atoms and two single-mode cavities. The detection of atoms 3 and 4 collapses the atoms 1 and 2 to the initial state of atoms 3 and 4, while the cavity fields left in the vacuum state. The probability of success and the fidelity of our scheme are 0.125 and 0.98, respectively.

Resource allocation using time division multiple access over wireless relay networks

This article considers a wireless network consisting of multiple sources that communicate with the corresponding destination utilizing a single half-duplex relay, whereas, the sources use the relay opportunistically. By integrating the information theory with the concept of effective capacity, this article proposes a dynamic time allocation strategy over the wireless relay network that aims at maximizing the relay network throughput, subject to a given delay quality of service （QoS） constraint, where time division multiple access （TDMA） is applied in the relay network. The simulation results show that the proposed allocation strategy can significantly improve the effective capacity as compared to the traditional equal time allocation strategy.
