In optics,the refractive index of a material and its spatial distribution determine the characteristics of light ***,exploring both low-and high-index materials/structures is an important consideration in this *** cavities,which are defined as low-index bases,exhibit a variety of unusual or even unexplored optical characteristics and are used in numerous functionalities including diffraction gratings,localised optical antennas and low-loss *** this report,we discuss the fabrication of hollow cavities of various sizes(O.2-5μm in diameter)that are supported by conformal dielectric/metal shells,as well as their specific applications in the ultraviolet(photodetectors),visible(light-emitting diodes,solar cells and metalenses),near-infrared(thermophotovoltaics)and mid-infrared(radiative coolers)*** findings demonstrate that hollow cavities tailored to specific spectra and applications can serve as versatile optical platforms to address the limitations of current optoelectronic ***,hollow cavity embedded structures are highly elastic and can minimise the thermal stress caused by high *** such,future applications will likely include high-temperature devices such as thermophotovoltaics and concentrator photovoltaics.

Particulate matters（PM） are one of the major body burdens leading to diseases. We investigated the capacities of a hydrogen-enriched water（HW） eliminating carbon nanoparticles（CNP） and carbon microparticles（CMP） from the lungs and blood, respectively. In CNP-elimination test, rats were orally administered with purified water（PW） or HW（10 or 30 mL/kg/day） for 10 weeks. At the time point of 4 weeks, the rats were challenged with intratracheal instillation of CNP（4 mg）. CNP accumulated in the airways and alveoli, and induced inflammatory lesions. Such pneumoconiosis was markedly improved by feeding HW, while PW was ineffective. CNP-induced pneumoconiosis caused systemic hematological alterations, decreasing major inflammatory cells, but markedly increasing eosinophils,indicative of an allergic reaction, which were attenuated by treatment with HW. Such PM-eliminating and antiallergic effects of HW reduced body burden as confirmed from the facilitated recovery of body and lung weights. In CMP-clearance test, mice were orally administered with PW or HW for 7 days, and intravenously injected with CMP（300 mg/kg）. CMP was rapidly eliminated from the blood in HW-fed mice. Indeed, the phagocytic indices increased to 3.5 and 6.7 folds at 10 and 30 mL/kg of HW, in comparison with a negligible effect of PW. As a mechanism study,only HW significantly inhibited lipid peroxidation in vitro Fenton reaction-mediated ·OH-generating ***, the results indicate that HW not only effectively eliminated PM from the lungs and blood by enhancing phagocytic activity, but also attenuated the lung injuries by inhibiting lipid peroxidation.

Salvage liver transplantation(LT)is frequently performed on patients who experience recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)after primary hepatectomy for HCC[1,2].The main concern in these patients is the technical feasibility of salvage LT,especially as prior hepatectomy may result in heavy adhesions[3,4].Salvage living donor LT(LDLT)is a more demanding procedure than salvage deceased donor LT(DDLT)using an entire donor graft with a long vascular pedicle[5,6].Because less than optimal dissection of perihepatic adhesions could result in uncontrollable pinpoint bleedings at the dissection surface[1,5],many transplant surgeons avoid performing salvage *** invasive laparoscopic hepatectomy(LH)results in fewer intraperitoneal adhesions than the open method,reducing the difficulty of surgical dissection during future LT[7–10].To date,however,no study has compared salvage LDLT for recurrent HCC after LH to that after open hepatectomy(OH).

The behavior of soil organisms inhabiting soil pore spaces can be influenced by soil compression,which can affect their avoidance behavior to *** this study,we aimed to evaluate the effect of soil compression on the avoidance behavior of Allonychiurus kimi(Collembola)to heavy metals cadmium and ***,to assess the applicability of the avoidance test guideline of the International Organization for Standardization(ISO)developed for Folsomia candida,we investigated the avoidance behavior of *** to cadmium and copper in an artificial soil with a loose structure(bulk density of 0.25 g cm^(-3)),the porous texture of which was sufficiently loose to enable *** to move between pore *** effect of soil compression on the avoidance behavior of *** to both metals was evaluated in compressed soil(bulk density of 0.64 g cm^(-3))with a uniformly compressed soil surface,and avoidance behavior was investigated at 24-h intervals over a 120-h *** that *** is unable to burrow into compressed soil,the compressed soil test can minimize the effects of differences in soil factors,such as soil porosity and bulk density,on the behavior of this *** the artificial soil,a statistically significant avoidance behavior of *** was observed at cadmium and copper concentrations greater than 50 and 200 mg kg^(-1),respectively,thereby indicating the applicability of the ISO avoidance test guidelines for *** compared at the same exposure time point,the avoidance response to both metals in compressed soil was less sensitive than that in uncompressed *** addition,we observed differences in the effects of metals on avoidance response in the compressed soil over time,with the effect of cadmium increasing with time and the effect of copper showing the opposite ***,we found that soil compression can affect the avoidance behavior of *** to cadmium and copper,and we discussed the advantages and limitations of using compressed

The purpose of this study is to characterize a meta-signature of differentially expressed mRNA in chronic kidney disease （CKD） to predict putative microRNA （miRNA） in CKD-mineral bone disorder （CKD- MBD） and confirm the changes in these genes and miRNA expression under uremic conditions by using a cell culture system. PubMed searches using MeSH terms and keywords related to CKD, uremia, and mRNA arrays were conducted. Through a computational analysis, a meta-signature that characterizes the significant intersection of differentially expressed mRNA and expected miRNAs associated with CKD-MBD was determined. Additionally, changes in gene and miRNA expressions under uremic conditions were confirmed with human Saos-2 osteoblast-like cells. A statistically significant mRNA meta-signature of upregulated and downregulated mRNA levels was identified. Furthermore, miRNA expression profiles were inferred, and computational anaIyses were performed with the imputed mieroRNA regulation based on weighted ranked expression and putative microRNA targets （IMRE） method to identify miRNAs associated with CKD occurrence. TLR4 and miR-146b levels were significantly associated with CKD-MBD. TLR4 levels were significantly downregulated, whereas pri- miR-146b and miR-146b were upregulated in the presence of uremic toxins in human Saos-2 osteoblast-like cells. Differentially expressed miRNAs associated with CKD-MBD were identified through a computational analysis, and changes in gene and miRNA expressions were confirmed with an in vitro cell culture system.

BACKGROUND Compared to earlier,there has been an increase in the tattoo procedures for cosmetic purposes;and there has also been an increase in the tattoo procedures performed by non-medical *** South Korea,only tattoos performed by a doctor are considered legal;however,there is still some debate over whether tattoo procedures performed by non-healthcare providers should be considered *** SUMMARY A 28-year-old woman visited our hospital with pain in both nipples and heat sensation over the last 4 *** had a history of a nipple tattoo performed by an unlicensed *** bleeding was noted in both areolar areas,and the exudate mixed with pus and orange color ink was *** medication and tulle with foam dressing were performed under the impression of cellulitis and allergic *** 4 wk,nipples remained dark brown in color,resulting in a color mismatch between the nipple and orange-colored *** size of the areola was also found to be distinctly asymmetrical after *** complication may have been caused by the use of illegal ink or unsanitary procedures,or a problem may have occurred in the post-tattoo management *** Doctors use approved ink,aseptic procedure and appropriate postoperative care,and appropriate management can be performed in case of complications.
