The development of superconducting joining technology for reacted magnesium diboride(MgB_(2))conductors remains a critical challenge for the advancement of cryogen-free MgB_(2)-based magnets for magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).Herein,the fabrication of superconducting joints using reacted carbon-doped multifilament MgB_(2)wires for MRI magnets is *** achieve successful superconducting joints,the powder-in-mold method was employed,which involved tuning the filament protection mechanism,the powder compaction pressure,and the heat treatment *** fabricated joints demonstrated clear superconducting-to-normal transitions in self-field,with effective magnetic field screening up to 0.5 T at 20 *** evaluate the interface between one of the MgB_(2)filaments and the MgB_(2)bulk within the joint,serial sectioning was conducted for the first time in this type of superconducting *** serial sectioning revealed space formation at the interface,potentially caused by the volume shrinkage associated with the MgB_(2)formation or the combined effect of the volume shrinkage and the different thermal expansion coefficients of the MgB_(2)bulk,the filament,the mold,and the sealing *** findings are expected to be pivotal in developing MgB_(2)superconducting joining technology for MRI magnet applications through interface engineering.

Quality Evaluation of Carnitine for Proper Use of Supplement

In recent years, consumers are becoming more health-conscious. Supplements are becoming popular as they can be purchased easily. In Japan, the “Food with Function Claims” system began in 2015;the market for supplements is expected to continue to expand. However, the use of some supplements has not been supported with sufficient scientific evidence;some products have even caused health problems. In addition, consumers may not be able to make correct decisions based on the information from the Internet. Unlike medicine, the instruction on the usage of supplements is not precise. Therefore, improving the quality of the information on the supplements will become more necessary in the future. This study aims to improve the quality of the information on supplements by surveying the disintegration and dissolution behavior of the carnitine-containing supplements and evaluated their quality. The products tested here were supplements containing commercial carnitine. Disintegration test and dissolution test were conducted according to the Japanese Pharmacopoeia. Carnitine was quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography. The disintegration tests revealed that the products had different disintegration times, varying from 35 to 100 minutes;some products took more than 5 hours to disintegrate. Thus, some products had a slow rise in their dissolution rate. These results suggest that the carnitine-containing supplements used in this study may affect the absorption process. 随着全球化的加速以及对外开放的进一步深入,高等教育国际化已经成为一种必然趋势。中国普通高校聘请的外籍教师人数也不断增加,可以说已经成为高校教学师资的重要组成部分之一。其中语言类外籍教师不仅数量庞大,分布广泛,而且在很多方面具有较大的独特性,然而外籍教师的专业发展并没有得到很大的重视。笔者采用半结构性访谈法,针对15位语言类日籍外教进行了深入访谈,从而对语言类外籍教师的专业发展现状以及其影响因素进行了探索。研究发现中国高校的语言类外籍教师的专业发展状况并不是很理想。虽然总体工作满意度较高,但还是存在教学能力参差不齐、职业规划不明确等问题。由于外教的工作积极性偏高,学习意识自我学习意识较强,这能够在很大程度上弥补这些不足。因此,笔者认为影响外教专业发展的因素主要为外部因素。通过对访谈资料的整理发现,影响外教专业发展的外部因素为社会文化因素、制度因素和学校因素。

Differences in Amino Acid Composition between <i>α</i>and <i>β</i>Structural Classes of Proteins

The amino acid composition of α and β structural class of proteins from five species, Escherichia coli, Thermotoga maritima, Thermus thermophilus, yeast, and humans were investigated. Amino acid residues of proteins were classified into interior or surface residues based on the relative accessible surface area. The hydrophobic Leu, Ala, Val, and Ile residues were rich in interior residues, and hydrophilic Glu, Lys, Asp, and Arg were rich in surface residues both in α and β proteins. The amino acid composition of α proteins was different from that of β proteins in five species, and the difference was derived from the different contents of their interior residues between α and β proteins. α-helix content of α proteins was rich in interior residues than surface ones. Similarly, β-sheet content of β proteins was rich in interior residues than surface ones. The content of Leu residues was very high, approximately 20%, in interior residues of α proteins. This result suggested that the Leu residue plays an important role in the folding of α proteins.

Effects of Ethephon and Abscisic Acid Application on Ripening-Related Genes in ‘Kohi' Kiwifruit (Actinidia chinensis) on the Vine

The effects of ethephon and abscisic acid(ABA) application on ripening-related genes of pre-harvest ‘Kohi' kiwifruit(Actinidia chinensis) were studied to clarify the possibility of the fruit ripening on the vine. The fruits were treated on the vine at mature stage with 250 μL·L^(-1)ethephon or 100 μmol·L^(-1)ABA, and the expression levels of chlorophyll synthase(Ac CLS), chlorophyllase1(Ac CLH1), polygalacturonase(Ac PG), expansin(Ac EXP),β-amylase(Acβ-AM), sucrose synthase(Ac SUSY), MADS-box SEPALLATA4/RIPENING INHIBITOR-like(Ac SEP4/RIN) and FRUITFUL-like(Ac TDR4/FUL) genes were analyzed. The expression levels of Ac PG, Ac EXP, Acβ-AM, and Ac SUSY increased in the ethephon-treated fruit, but those of Ac CLH1 at 6and 9 days after treatment and Ac CLS decreased. Moreover, the expression levels of Ac SEP4/RIN and Ac TDR4/FUL, the latter of which is associated with ethylene biosynthesis, were higher in the ethephon-treated fruit. The expression level of each gene in ABA-treated fruit was not significantly different from that of the untreated control. The results suggest that ethephon application increases the expression levels of Ac PG,Ac EXP, Acβ-AM, Ac SUSY, Ac SEP4/RIN, and Ac TDR4/FUL in ‘Kohi' kiwifruit on the vine.

Autophagy is an intracellular degradation mechanism involved in antiviral defense,but the strategies employed by plant viruses to counteract autophagy-related defense remain unknown for the majority of the ***,we describe how the Chinese wheat mosaic virus(CWMV,genus Furovirus)interferes with autophagy and enhances its infection in Nicotiana *** two-hybrid screening and in vivo/in vitro assays revealed that the 19 k Da coat protein(CP19 K)of CWMV interacts with cytosolic glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenases(GAPCs),negative regulators of autophagy,which bind autophagy-related protein 3(ATG3),a key factor in ***19 K also directly interacts with ATG3,possibly leading to the formation of a CP19 K–GAPC–ATG3 ***19 K–GAPC interaction appeared to intensify CP19 K–ATG3 ***,CP19 K expression upregulated GAPC gene transcripts and reduced autophagic ***,the silencing of GAPC genes in transgenic *** reduced CWMV accumulation,whereas CP19 K overexpression enhanced ***,our results suggest that CWMV CP19 K interferes with autophagy through the promotion and utilization of the GAPC role as a negative regulator of autophagy.
