Towards relieving center segregation in twin-roll cast Al-Mg-Si-Cu strips by controlling the thermal-mechanical process

Serious center segregation greatly limits the application of twin-roll casting(TRC)technology for produc-ing 6xxx alloy ***,Al-0.9Mg-0.6Si-0.2Cu-0.1Fe(wt.%,6061)strips with different thicknesses were fabricated by TRC,and we found that the center segregation was well relieved with the thick-ness increased from 3 mm to 4 *** reveal the mechanisms of mitigation of center segregation in the 4 mm strip,various techniques including solidification simulation,crystallographic calculation,elec-tron backscatter diffraction(EBSD),and electron probe micro-analyzer(EPMA)were *** re-sults disclosed that the Fe-containing phase in the 3 mm strip wasπ-AlFeMgSi,while the counterpart in the 4 mm strip wasα-***α-AlFeSi could serve as nucleation substrates for Mg_(2)Si and Q-AlCuMgSi phases,thus promoting the uniform distribution of elements and preventing the accumulation of phases in the center *** matching planes between theα-AlFeSi and Q/Mg_(2)Si were exam-ined as:(1120)_(α-AlFeSi)//(0001)_(Q),(0001)_(α-AlFeSi)//(110)_(Mg2Si),and(1120)_(α-AlFeSi)//(110)_(Mg2Si).Meanwhile,the smaller roll separating force during the TRC process in the 4 mm strip could weaken the force-induced liquid flow behavior in the semi-solid region,which is the other reason for the alleviation of center *** to the elimination of the center segregation,a more excellent fracture elongation was achieved in the as-homogenized 4 mm strip(∼29%)compared with the counterpart of the 3 mm strip(∼20%).This work may provide a strategy to eliminate the center segregation,thus further promoting the application of TRC process and producing high-performance Al alloy strips efficiently.

A corrosion-resistant and age-hardenable Mg-Al-Mn-Ca-Ce dilute alloy with fine-grained structure processed by controlled rolling

Low strength and poor corrosion resistance are two long-standing bottlenecks with dilute Mg ***,we report that the corrosion resistance of Mg-0.6Al-0.5Mn-0.2Ca(wt.%)alloy sheet can be significantly improved by micro-alloying with 0.3 wt.%Ce,and the strength can be considerably augmented after aging *** optimization of strength,ductility,and corrosion resistance is difficult due to the inherent trade-off in Mg ***,our aged Mg-0.6Al-0.5Mn-0.2Ca-0.3Ce alloy features with yield strength(YS)of∼194 MPa,ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of∼265 MPa,elongation to failure(EF)of∼17.2%,and corrosion rate(CR)of 2.2 mm y^(−1),the combination of which exhibits competitive advantage over other comparative dilute Mg *** is found that Ce addition decreases the activity of cathodic phases,inhibits detrimental effects of Fe impurities,and forms a protective Ce-containing surface *** high strength stems from the precipitation of ordered Guinier-Preston(G.P.)zones dispersed in uniform fine grains with an average grain size of∼8.2μ*** atomic-scale *** result in a noticeable age hardening response but do not act as crack initiation and propagation site,so our alloy also performs satisfactory *** work sheds light on the design and fabrication of strong,ductile,and corrosion-resistant dilute magnesium alloys to be used in electronic products and automotive bodies.

The research of long persistent luminescence(LPL)materials has yield brilliant results in many ***,the efforts are still needed for the regulation of the LPL *** this work,a series of LPL metal organic halides with rich halogen-bond interactions,Py-CdX_(2)(X=Cl,Br,I)were synthesized through self-assembly by Cd X_(2)and pyridine *** steady-state emission redshifted and phosphorescence lifetime declined as the halogen atoms are *** halides exhibit adjustable emission from blue to green and multiple phosphorescence from green to yellow at room temperature by changing the excitation ***,Py-CdX_(2)can emit the visible color-tunable LPL from green to yellow after removing different excitation sources at ambient *** the results of theoretical calculation and experimental analysis,it is found that heavy atom effect and the rich intermolecular halogen bond help realize LPL and multiple triplet states originated from the pyridine ring and the halogens.

Deep electrical structures of Qinzhou-Fangcheng Junction Zone in Guangxi and seismogenic environment of the 1936 Lingshan M6^(3/4)earthquake

The tectonic position of the southwest section of the Qinzhou Bay-Hangzhou Bay Tectonic Junction Zone(QHTJZ)can be determined by examining the Qinzhou-Fangcheng Junction Zone(QFJZ)in *** zone is significant because it was the location of the largest earthquake ever recorded in the inland region of South China,specifically the 1936 Lingshan M6^(3/4)earthquake in ***,this region serves as an optimal location for researching the origins of intraplate earthquakes in South *** study presents a display of a broadband magnetotelluric(MT)prospecting profile that traverses the Guangxi QFJZ and the Lingshan earthquake zone,extending from the northwest(NW)to the southeast(SE).A resistivity structure model was generated using three-dimensional(3D)inversion technology along the *** main faults in QFJZ were analyzed in terms of their deep extension forms and tectonic *** analysis was performed by integrating the results obtained from geology,gravity,wave velocity ratio,Global Position System(GPS),and geothermal *** results showed that(1)the Dongzhong-Xiaodong fault(DXf),the eastern Fangcheng-Lingshan fault(FLf2),and the eastern Hepu-Beiliu fault(HBf2)were all trans-crustal deep faults,and crust-mantle ductile shear zones developed in the deep *** electrical boundary zones,DXf and HBf2,were *** inclined towards the northwest,while HBf2 inclined towards the *** FangchengLingshan fault(FLf)exhibits a tectonic style resembling a“flower”shape in the upper *** the deeper section,it is characterized by an electrical boundary zone that gradually slopes towards the southeast direction.(2)The Hunan-Guangxi Passive Continental Margin(HGPCM)on the NW side of DXf had a stratified resistivity structure and relatively stable Bouguer gravity anomalies,which conformed to the quasi-craton tectonic attribute of the local failure at the southeastern margin of the Yangtze Block(YB).The southeastern side of this bloc

Strength and ductility optimization of HPDC AlSi8MgCuZn2 alloys by modifying pre-aging treatment

Considering the components produced by high pressure die casting(HPDC)process usually with ultra-large sizes and complex morphologies,high temperature solid solution treatment is not a suitable method to further improve their mechanical *** this study,two-stage aging treatment with different pre-aging times was designed and employed to further improve the mechanical properties of HPDC Al8SiMgCuZn *** characteristics of precipitates were evaluated by a transmission electron microscope(TEM),and the precipitation strengthening mechanism was *** results reveal that the strengthening is mainly contributed by the precipitation ofβ″phase after two-stage aging,and the number density and size of the precipitates are significantly depended on the pre-aging *** number density of precipitates is increased with the pre-aging time prolonged from 0 h to 4 h,and then decreases with the further increase of pre-aging time from 4 h to 6 *** precipitates with the highest density and smallest size are observed after pre-aging for 4 *** pre-aged at 100℃for 4 h and then artificial aged at 200℃for 30 min,the yield strength of 207 MPa,ultimate tensile strength of 325 MPa and elongation of 7.6%are achieved.

pH Induced Self-assembly of AIE Fluorescent Probe for Tumor Imaging

This work reported an AIE fluorescent probe for tumor imaging based on the p H induced self-assembly strategy. The fluorescent probe was composed of an acid-responsive soluble copolymer PEG-b-PAMA-DMMA with a maleic acid amide group and an anionic soluble aggregation-induced emission fluorogen(AIEgen) TPE-2SO_(3)^(-). The polymer could be transformed into a protonated amine-containing polymer after the hydrolysis of maleic acid amide in acidic tumor microenvironment, which would be further self-assembled with TPE-2SO_(3)^(-)to form aggregated nanoparticles. The transition of TPE-2SO_(3)^(-)from dispersed state to aggregated state led to an obvious increase in fluorescence intensity due to its AIE characteristics.

Extra-pair paternity(EPP)is commonly found in socially monogamous birds,especially in small passerine birds,and there are interspecific and intraspecific variations in the extent of *** Chestnut-vented Nuthatch(Sitta nagaensis)is a socially monogamous passerine bird,and verifying whether this species has EPP relies on parentage *** is not known to have *** this study,we developed SNP markers of this species that are informative for parentage analysis from double digest restriction site-associated DNA sequencing(ddRAD-seq)data.A panel consisting of 50 SNP markers,with a mean heterozygosity of 0.343,was used to resolve 95% of nestlings to *** combined exclusion probabilities for the first parent and second parent were 0.991 and 0.9999,*** panel of SNP markers is a powerful tool for parentage assignments in *** addition,we found that three offspring(7.9%)from three nests(23.1%)were the result of extra-pair fertilization out of 38 offspring in 13 *** study provided information on parentage analysis that has not been reported before in *** also supplemented the understudied EPP behavior of birds in Asia,contributing to a general understanding of the EPP behaviors of birds.
