Effect of early enteral combined with parenteral nutrition in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy

AIM:To investigate the effect of early enteral nutrition(EEN)combined with parenteral nutritional support in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD).METHODS:From January 2006,all patients were given EEN combined with parenteral nutrition(PN)(EEN/PN group,n=107),while patients prior to this date were given total parenteral nutrition(TPN)(TPN group,n=67).Venous blood samples were obtained for a nutrition-associated assessment and liver function tests on the day before surgery and 6 d after *** assessment of clinical outcome was based on postoperative ***-up for infectious and noninfectious complications was carried out for 30 d after hospital *** within 30 d afterdischarge was also ***:Compared with the TPN group,a significant decrease in prealbumin(PAB)(P=0.023)was seen in the EEN/PN *** bilirubin(TB),direct bilirubin(DB)and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)were significantly decreased on day 6 in the EEN/PN group(P=0.006,0.004 and 0.032,respectively).The rate of gradeⅠcomplications,gradeⅡcomplications and the length of postoperative hospital stay in the EEN/PN group were significantly decreased(P=0.036,0.028and 0.021,respectively),and no hospital mortality was observed in our *** with the TPN group(58.2%),the rate of infectious complications in the EEN/PN group(39.3%)was significantly decreased(P=0.042).Eleven cases of delayed gastric emptying were noted in the TPN group,and 6 cases in the EEN/PN *** rate of delayed gastric emptying and hyperglycemia was significantly reduced in the EEN/PN group(P=0.031 and P=0.040,respectively).CONCLUSION:Early enteral combined with PN can greatly improve liver function,reduce infectious complications and delayed gastric emptying,and shorten postoperative hospital stay in patients undergoing PD.

GJB2 gene mutations are the most common causes of autosomal recessive non-syndromic hereditary *** individuals suffering from severe to profound GJB2-related deafness,cochlear implants have emerged as the sole remedy for auditory *** previous studies have highlighted the crucial role of preserving cochlear neural components in achieving favorable outcomes after cochlear ***,we generated a conditional knockout mouse model(Cx26-CKO)in which Cx26 was completely deleted in the cochlear supporting cells driven by the Sox2 *** Cx26-CKO mice showed severe hearing loss and massive loss of hair cells and Deiter’s cells,which represented the extreme form of human deafness caused by GJB2 gene *** addition,multiple pathological changes in the peripheral auditory nervous system were found,including abnormal innervation,demyelination,and degeneration of spiral ganglion neurons as well as disruption of heminodes in Cx26-CKO *** findings provide invaluable insights into the deafness mechanism and the treatment for severe deafness in Cx26-null mice.

Thermoelectric materials possess the unique capability to convert thermal energy into electric energy and vice versa, making them promising for waste heat recovery and efficient cooling systems. Currently, extensively investigated thermoelectric materials such as Bi2Te3,PbTe and GeTe exhibit superior thermoelectric properties at room temperature and medium temperature ***, the broad application of these thermoelectric materials has been impeded by the high cost and restricted accessibility of Te and Ge in the earth's crust. Over the past few years, researchers have shown increasing interest in PbSe-and PbS-based materials, primarily attributed to their abundant elemental supply and relatively low costs. The assessment of research progress and a comprehensive overview of optimization strategies in time can significantly contribute to further improving the thermoelectric performance. These strategies include optimizing carrier concentration(aliovalent doping, dynamic doping and defect state), enhancing density-of-state effective mass(band convergence, band flattening and energy filtering effect), optimizing carrier mobility(band sharpening and band alignment) and reducing lattice thermal conductivity(all-scale hierarchical defect structures designing). This systematic summary and analysis provide novel insights and perspectives for the development of thermoelectric materials.

Morphological Classification of Infrared Galaxies Based on WISE

This study introduces a novel convolutional neural network,the WISE Galaxy Classification Network(WGC),for classifying spiral and elliptical galaxies using Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer(WISE)*** attains an accuracy of 89.03%,surpassing the combined use of K-means or SVM with the Color-Color method in more accurately identifying galaxy *** enhanced variant,WGC_mag,integrates magnitude parameters with image features,further boosting the accuracy to 89.89%.The research also delves into the criteria for galaxy classification,discovering that WGC primarily categorizes dust-rich images as elliptical galaxies,corresponding to their lower star formation rates,and classifies less dusty images as spiral *** paper explores the consistency and complementarity of WISE infrared images with SDSS optical images in galaxy morphology *** SDSS Galaxy Classification Network(SGC),trained on SDSS images,achieved an accuracy of 94.64%.The accuracy reached 99.30% when predictions from SGC and WGC were *** the complementarity of features in WISE and SDSS images,a novel variant of a classifier,namely the Multi-band Galaxy Morphology Integrated Classifier,has been *** classifier elevates the overall prediction accuracy to 95.39%.Lastly,the versatility of WGC was validated in other data *** the HyperLEDA data set,the distinction between elliptical galaxies and Sc,Scd and Sd spiral galaxies was most pronounced,achieving an accuracy of 90%,surpassing the classification results of the Galaxy Zoo 2 labeled WISE data *** research not only demonstrates the effectiveness of WISE images in galaxy morphology classification but also represents an attempt to integrate multi-band astronomical data to enhance understanding of galaxy structures and evolution.

In this study,the motion of wet particles in the drying unit of a vertical powder dryer is investigated by using a Discrete element method(DEM)coupled with a liquid bridge *** particular,by varying parameters such as the particle mass flow rates,the superficial gas velocities,and superficial gas temperatures,the influence of the moisture content on the flow behavior is *** results show that when the moisture content increases,the mean particle velocity decreases while the bed mean solid“holdup”and the mean residence time(MRT)of particles *** is also found that the local solid holdup is relatively higher in the near-wall region and decreases towards the near-fluid *** regression models are introduced accordingly for the mean particle velocity and the bed mean solid holdup by means of the RSM-BBD(Response surface methodology-Box-Behnken design)method to obtain the optimal combination of parameters for flooding ***,the optimal results are compared with numerical *** the relative error is less than 10%,this demonstrates that the proposed methodology can accurately describe the particle flow dynamics in the drying unit.

Meeting the continuous glucose monitoring requirements of individuals necessitates the research and development of sensors with high sensitivity and *** this study,a straightforward strategy was proposed for synthesizing ultra-thin oxygen-rich graphitized carbon nanosheets(denoted as GCS-O).These nanosheets are obtained by calcining a topologically two-dimensional indium-based coordination ***,the growth of FeNi Prussian blue analogue(PBA)on GCS-O effectively introduces active sites and increases the nitrogen content within the carbonaceous *** resulting FeNi-PBA/GCS-O composite exhibits excellent glucose sensing performance with a broad linear range of 1 to 1300μmol·L^(-1).Meanwhile,it also achieves a high sensitivity of 2496μA·mmol^(-1)·L·cm^(-2),a limit of detection of 100nmol·L^(-1)(S/N=3),and commendable long-term *** relatively simple synthesis process,exceptional sensitivity,and satisfactory electrochemical sensing performance of FeNi-PBA/GCS-O open up new directions for biosensor applications.

Sodium-carbon dioxide （Na-CO2） batteries are regarded as promising energy storage technologies because of their impressive theoretical energy density and CO2reutilization,but their practical applications are restricted by uncontrollable sodium dendrite growth and poor electrochemical kinetics of *** suitable multifunctional electrodes for dendritefree anodes and kinetics-enhanced CO2cathodes is considered one of the most important ways to advance the practical application of ***,RuO2nanoparticles encapsulated in carbon paper （RuCP）are rationally designed and employed as both Na anode host and CO2cathode in *** outstanding sodiophilicity and high catalytic activity of RuCP electrodes can simultaneously contribute to homogenous Na+distribution and dendrite-free sodium structure at the anode,as well as strengthen discharge and charge kinetics at the *** morphological evolution confirmed the uniform deposition of Na on RuCP anode with dense and flat interfaces,delivering enhanced Coulombic efficiency of 99.5%and cycling stability near 1500 ***,Na-CO2batteries with RuCP cathode demonstrated excellent cycling stability（>350 cycles）.Significantly,implementation of a dendrite-free RuCP@Na anode and catalytic-site-rich RuCP cathode allowed for the construction of a symmetric Na-CO2battery with long-duration cyclability,offering inspiration for extensive practical uses of Na-CO2batteries.
