A deep learning model based on contrast-enhanced computed tomography for differential diagnosis of gallbladder carcinoma

Background:Gallbladder carcinoma(GBC)is highly malignant,and its early diagnosis remains *** study aimed to develop a deep learning model based on contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT)images to assist radiologists in identifying ***:We retrospectively enrolled 278 patients with gallbladder lesions(>10 mm)who underwent contrast-enhanced CT and cholecystectomy and divided them into the training(n=194)and validation(n=84)*** deep learning model was developed based on ResNet50 *** and clinical models were built based on support vector machine(SVM)*** comprehensively compared the performance of deep learning,radiomics,clinical models,and three ***:Three radiomics features including LoG_3.0 gray-level size zone matrix zone variance,HHL firstorder kurtosis,and LHL gray-level co-occurrence matrix dependence variance were significantly different between benign gallbladder lesions and GBC,and were selected for developing radiomics *** regression analysis revealed that age≥65 years[odds ratios(OR)=4.4,95%confidence interval(CI):2.1-9.1,P37 U/mL(OR=4.0,95%CI:1.6-10.0,P=0.003)were significant clinical risk factors of *** deep learning model achieved the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)values of 0.864(95%CI:0.814-0.915)and 0.857(95%CI:0.773-0.942)in the training and validation datasets,which were comparable with radiomics,clinical models and three *** sensitivity of deep learning model was the highest both in the training[90%(95%CI:82%-96%)]and validation[85%(95%CI:68%-95%)]***:The deep learning model may be a useful tool for radiologists to distinguish between GBC and benign gallbladder lesions.

Effect of hydraulic retention time and pH on oxidation of ferrous iron in simulated ferruginous acid mine drainage treatment with inoculation of iron-oxidizing bacteria

The effect of hydraulic retention time (HRT) and pH on the biooxidation of ferrous iron during simulated acid mine drainage (AMD) treatment was *** simulated AMD was highly acidic (pH 2.5), rich in iron (about 1700 mg/L) and copper (about 200 mg/L), and contained high concentrations of sulfate (about 4700 mg/L).The biooxidation of ferrous iron was studied in a laboratory-scale upflow packed bed bioreactor (PBR).The HRT was shortened stepwise from 40 h to 20 h, 13 h, and 8 h under the acidic environment at a pH value of ***, the influent pH value was changed from 2.2 to 1.2 at a constant suitable *** and microbial community structure analyses were performed on water samples and stuffing collected from the bioreactor under different *** results indicate that the efficiency of ferrous iron oxidation gradually decreased with the decrease of HRT, and when the HRT exceeded 13 h, ferrous iron in AMD was almost completely *** addition, the best efficiency of ferrous iron oxidation was achieved at the influent pH value of *** community structure analyses show that Leptospirillum is the predominant genus attached in the bioreactor, and low influent pH values are suitable for the growth of Leptospirillum.

Prediction of bedload transport inside vegetation canopies with natural morphology

Due to vegetation drag and vegetation-generated turbulence,bedload transport in vegetated channels is more complicated than that in nonvegetated *** is challenging to obtain accurate predictions of bedload transport in vegetated *** studies generally used rigid circular cylinders to simulate vegetation,and the impact of plant morphology on bedload transport was typically ignored;these methods deviate from natural scenarios,resulting in prediction errors in transport rates of more than an order of *** study measured bedload transport rates inside ***,*** and *** canopies and in arrays of rigid cylinders for *** impact of plant morphology on bedload transport in vegetated channels was *** the canopies of natural morphology,the primary factor driving bedload transport is the near-bed turbulent kinetic energy(TKE),which consists of both bed-generated and vegetation-generated turbulence.A method was proposed to predict the near-bed TKE inside canopies with natural *** the same solid volume fraction of plants,the transport rate inside canopies with a natural morphology is greater than or equal to that within an array of rigid cylinders,depending on the plant *** finding indicates that plant morphology has a significant impact on transport rates in vegetated regions and cannot be ignored,which is typical in *** classic bedload transport equations(the Meyer-Peter-Müller,Einstein,Engelund and Dou equations),which are suitable for bare channels(no vegetation),were modified in terms of the near-bed *** predicted near-bed TKE was inserted into these four equations to predict the transport rate in canopies with natural morphology.A comparison of the predictions indicated that the Meyer-Peter-Müller equation had the highest accuracy in predicting the transport rate in vegetated landscapes.

Steam disinfection enhances bioaccessibility of metallic nanoparticles in nano-enabled silicone-rubber baby bottle teats,pacifiers,and teethers

Nano-enabled silicone-rubber articles for feeding or chewing could be a source of metallic nanoparticles(NPs)directly exposed to infants and young ***,the impact of steam disinfection on release of NPs and the related potential risks to children's health are ***,we investigated contents and form of Ag and Zn in 57 nano-enabled silicone-rubber baby bottle teats,pacifiers,and teethers of seven countries and examined the impacts of steam disinfection on in vitro bioaccessibility(IVBA)of Ag and Zn in the *** 89%articles had a mixture of Ag-and Zn-containing NPs and the teethers had relatively high Ag and Zn contents(up to 501 and 254μg/g,respectively).Steam disinfection caused rubber decomposition into micro(nano)plastics(0.54-15.7μm)and NP release from the interior of bulk rubber and micro-sized plastics,thus enhancing the IVBA of Ag and Zn by up to 5.5 *** findings provide insights into mechanisms for NP release by steam *** oral exposure risk assessment suggested low health concerns on individual metal release,our study points out the need to assess the potential health risks of child co-exposure to metallic NPs and micro(nano)plastics.

Nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide/schwertmannite nanocomposites as heterogeneous photo-Fenton catalysts with enhanced efficiency for the degradation of bisphenol A

Potential health risks related to environmental endocrine disruptors(EEDs)have aroused research hotspots at the forefront of water treatment ***,nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide/schwertmannite nanocomposites(N-TiO_(2)/SCH)have been successfully developed as heterogeneous catalysts for the degradation of typical EEDs via photo-Fenton *** to the sustainable Fe(Ⅲ)/Fe(Ⅱ)conversion induced by photoelectrons,as-prepared N-TiO_(2)/SCH nanocomposites exhibit much enhanced efficiency for the degradation of bisphenol A(BPA;ca.100% within 60 min under visible irradiation)in a wide pH range of 3.0-7.8,which is significantly higher than that of the pristine schwertmannite(ca.74.5%)or N-TiO_(2)(ca.10.8%).In this photo-Fenton system,the efficient degradation of BPA is mainly attributed to the oxidation by hydroxyl radical(·OH)and singlet oxygen(^(1)O_(2)).Moreover,the possible catalytic mechanisms and reaction pathway of BPA degradation are systematically investigated based on analytical and photoelectrochemical *** work not only provides a feasible means for the development of novel heterogeneous photo-Fenton catalysts,but also lays a theoretical foundation for the potential application of mineral-based materials in wastewater treatment.

Validity and reliability of the evaluation tool of TCM confidence in students with TCM learning experience

Objective:This study aimed to design an evaluation scale of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)confidence and then evaluate its validity and ***:Three parallel samples with TCM learning experience were included in this current *** selected 500 nursing students were included factor analysis and reliability and validity *** 4 weeks,200 nursing students were recruited to retest the *** evaluation tool of TCM confidence included 6 dimensions and 25 ***:Cronbach's a coefficient of the evaluation scale was 0.95 and that of the 6 observed aspects were higher than 0.90,and splithalf reliability was *** the retest reliability,Cronbach's a coefficient of the evaluation scale was 0.93 and that of the 6 examined aspects was all over *** index of content validity Scale Content Validity Index(S-CVI)was 0.92 and Item Content Validity Index(I-CVI)was 0.83–***:Observed results may indicate that the designed tool can be used to assess the TCM confidence level of students with TCM studied experience and also can evaluate results of TCM education during studying TCM lectures.

BACKGROUND Abernethy malformation,also known as congenital extrahepatic portosystemic shunt,is an uncommon malformation resulting from aberrant development of the portal venous *** fibrosis(CF)is an autosomal recessive genetic disease caused by mutations in the CFTR *** mainly affects the exocrine glands of the respiratory,digestive and reproductive *** is considered extremely rare in the Asian *** present a clinical case involving a pediatric patient of Asian descent who was diagnosed with Abernethy malformation and *** SUMMARY A 12-year-old girl presented with a medical history of recurring respiratory infections and hemoptysis,and chest computed tomography(CT)showed *** exome sequencing was performed for the patient,yielding findings that revealed a compound heterozygous variant of the CFTR gene:c.233_c.234insT/***79fsTer3(maternal origin);c.2909G>A/***970Asp(paternal origin).CF was *** physician’s attention was drawn to the presence of splenomegaly during disease *** enhanced CT revealed splenomegaly,compression of the left kidney,and multiple tortuous dilated vascular shadows were seen at the splenic hilum,which flowed back into the left renal vein and portal vein,suggesting Abernethy malformation type ***,the abnormal blood flow was seen to merge into the inferior vena cava through the left renal vein without hepatic processing,and the pathology of liver biopsy showed hypoplastic,dilated or absent portal vein branches,both of which supported the diagnosis of Abernethy malformation type *** represents the initial documented instance of Abernethy malformation accompanied by a CFTR gene mutation in the existing body of *** Coexisting Abernethy malformation and CF are *** medical history information,abdominal enhanced CT,venography and genetic testing contribute to diagnosis as well as differential diagnosis.

Controllable nucleation and deformation of skyrmions on surface of magnetic nanotubular monolayer

Magnetic skyrmions emerge when the energy of ferromagnetic exchange interaction promoting parallel alignment of spins enters in competition with energies favoring non-collinear alignment of spins such as Dzy aloshinskii-Moriya interaction(DMI),long-rang dipole-dipole interaction(DDI),or higher-order exchange *** perform an unbiased Monte Carlo simulation to study the DMI-based skyrmion nucleation and stabilization on the surface of magnetic nanotubular monolayer controlled by tuning constants of DDI(g) and next-nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic exchange interaction(j') with appropriate *** g and j',the loosely distributed skyrmions initially nucleate on the surface of nanotube approaching to the magnetic field(h) direction with increasing h in the intermediate ***,the skyrmion size,shape,density,distribution and crystal structure,as well as its driven field range,are tailored by g and j'.This work demonstrates the skyrmion nucleation mechanisms in three-dimensional magnetic nanostructures with curvature effect and multiple interactions,serving as a benchmark for a guide to experimentalists for preparation of samples in magnetic skyrmion states.
