Trends in mortality of emergency departments patients in China

BACKGROUND: Emergency medical service system (EMSS) in China is becoming more important. However, studies on mortality of emergency departments (EDs) patients in tertiary hospitals and on the trends in mortality of ED patients all over China are stagnant. The objective of this study was to quantify and describe the trends in mortality of ED patients in China. METHODS: Nine tertiary teaching hospitals were selected from tertiary teaching hospitals in different regions. The annual numbers of ED visits and deaths of these hospitals in 2004, 2009 and 2014 were recorded and analyzed. Chi-square test was used to compare the mortality of the EDs’ visits. Moreover, data on the mortality of ED patients in China from 2005 to 2015 were summarized and analyzed from the China Health and Family Planning Statistical Yearbooks (2006–2016). RESULTS: From 2004 to 2014, the overall annual mortalities in EDs increased among the tertiary hospitals (P<0.001). However, the overall annual mortality in EDs all over China decreased from 0.12% in 2005 to 0.08% in 2015. And the mortalities of EDs patients in the eastern, central and western regions of China all decreased. In addition, the average mortality of EDs patients in northern China was obviously higher than that in southern China (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The ED mortality was increased in tertiary hospitals while decreased all over China during the past decade, which may be partly caused by some critical challenges faced by China’s EMSS, such as overcrowding and long length of stay in EDs of tertiary hospitals.

The main purpose of this paper is to establish, using the Littlewood–Paley–Stein theory(in particular, the Littlewood–Paley–Stein square functions), a Calderón–Torchinsky type theorem for the following Fourier multipliers on anisotropic Hardy spaces Hp(Rn;A) associated with expensive dilation A:■Our main Theorem is the following: Assume that m(ξ) is a function on Rn satisfying ■with s > ζ--1(1/p-1/2). Then Tm is bounded from Hp(Rn;A) to Hp(Rn;A) for all 0 < p ≤ 1 and ■where A* denotes the transpose of A. Here we have used the notations mj(ξ) = m(A*jξ)φ(ξ) and φ(ξ) is a suitable cut-off function on Rn, and Ws(A*) is an anisotropic Sobolev space associated with expansive dilation A* on Rn.

Influences of LaCl3 on the mineral phase transformation during osteoblast mineralization in vitro

Rat calvarial osteoblasts were treated with lanthanum chloride（LaCl3） to explore its effect on the mineral crystalline phase during the process of osteoblast calcification in *** results confirmed that La was readily deposited in the mineral component of the *** high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy techniques,we demonstrated that features comparable to dicalcium phosphate dihydrate（DCPD） and octacalcium phosphate,and hydroxyapatite（HAP） were detected in the mineral phases in ***,LaCl3 treatment retarded conversion from DCPD-like phase into HAP during *** addition,La was introduced in DCPD powder during wet chemical *** compared with that of La-free DCPD,the dissolution rate of La-incorporated DCPD was lower,thereby leading to a delayed DCPD-to-HAP phase ***,it can be concluded that LaCl3 treatment influences the kinetics of inorganic phase transition by decreasing the dissolution rate of DCPD.

Influence of DC Current on Corrosion Behaviour of Copper–Aluminium Composite Plates

In this study, neutral salt spray accelerated corrosion test of copper–aluminium composite under 0–125 A DC current was carried out under 5% concentration. The effect of corrosion behaviour on copper–aluminium composite by DC current was carried out by a scanning electron microscope(SEM) with energy-dispersive spectroscopy(EDS), X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), weight-loss method and electrochemical analysis. The results show that the current can accelerate the corrosion rate. Meanwhile, the current temperature effect can reduce the corrosion rate. The current caused directional migration of ions resulting in different corrosion products on positive and negative poles of specimen, and the corrosion degree on the positive pole was more serious. The galvanic corrosion mechanism at the copper–aluminium interface is different from the pitting corrosion mechanism far away from the interface, and the latter is more affected by DC current.

Effect of La addition on semi-solid microstructure evolution of Mg-7Zn magnesium alloy

Design study of APS-U-type hybrid-MBA lattice for mid-energy DLSR

In recent years,a new generation of storage ring-based light sources,known as diffraction-limited storage rings(DLSRs),whose emittance approaches the diffraction limit for the range of X-ray wavelengths of interest to the scientific community,has garnered significant attention *** have begun to design and build *** various DLSR proposals,the hybrid multibend achromat(H-MBA)lattice enables sextupole strengths to be maintained at a reasonable level when minimizing the emittance;hence,it has been adopted in many DLSR *** on the H-7BA lattice,the design of the Advanced Photon Source Upgrade Project(APS-U)can effectively reduce emittance by replacing six quadrupoles with ***,we discuss the feasibility of designing an APS-U-type H-MBA lattice for the Southern Advanced Photon Source,a mid-energy DLSR light source with ultralow emittance that has been proposed to be built adjacent to the China Spallation Neutron *** linear and nonlinear dynamics are optimized to obtain a detailed design of this type of *** emittance is minimized,while a sufficiently large dynamic aperture(DA)and momentum acceptance(MA)are maintained.A design comprising 36 APS-U type H-7BAs,with an energy of 3 GeV and a circumference of 972 m,is *** horizontal natural emittance is 20 pm·rad,with a horizontal DA of 5.8 mm,a vertical DA of 4.5 mm,and an MA of 4%,as well as a long longitudinal damping time of 120 ***,a few modifications are performed based on the APS-U-type lattice to reduce the maximum value of damping time from 120 to 44 ms while maintaining other performance parameters at the same level.

Premature thermal decomposition behavior of 3,4-dinitrofurazanfuroxan with certain types of nitrogen-rich compounds

3,4-Dinitrofurazanfuroxan(DNTF),as a high-energy-density material,features good thermal stability and wide *** study aimed to elucidate the thermal decomposition mechanism of DNTF combined with nitrogen-rich compounds containing *** thermal stabilities of DNTF and its hybrid systems were investigated using differential thermal analysis/thermogravimetry(TG),vacuum stability test,and accelerating rate calorimetry under isothermal,non-isothermal,and adiabatic conditions,*** showed that the thermal stability and thermal safety of DNTF significantly decreased after combining with nitrogen-rich compounds containing *** results showed that the activation energy of the DNTF hybrid systems was significantly lower than that of *** TGIR was used to monitor the generation of fugitive gases during the thermal decomposition of the DNTF/5-aminotetrazole(5-ATZ)***,the nitrogen-rich molecules containing N-H interacted extensively with DNTF,and this interaction accelerated the thermal degradation of DNTF.

Discrete element modeling on the crack evolution behavior of brittle sandstone containing three fissures under uniaxial compression

Based on experimental restilts of brittle, intact sandstone under uniaxial compression, the micro-parameters were firstly confirmed by adopting particle flow code （PFC2D）. Then, the validation of the simulated models were cross checked with the experimental results of brittle sandstone containing three parallel fissures under uniaxial compression. The simulated results agreed very well with the experimental results, including the peak strength, peak axial strain, and ultimate failure mode. Using the same micro- parameters, the numerical models containing a new geometry of three fissures are constructed to investigate the fissure angle on the fracture mechanical behavior of brittle sandstone under uniaxial compression. The strength and deformation parameters of brittle sandstone containing new three fissures are dependent to the fissure angle. With the increase of the fis- sure angle, the elastic modulus, the crack damage threshold, and the peak strength of brittle sandstone containing three fissures firstly increase and secondly decrease. But the peak axial strain is nonlinearly related to the fissure angle. In the entire process of deformation, the crack initiation and propagation behavior of brittle sandstone containing three fissures under uniaxial compression are investigated with respect to the fissure angle. Six different crack coalescence modes are identified for brittle sandstone containing three fissures under uniaxial compression. The influence of the fissure angle on the length of crack propagation and crack coalescence stress is evaluated. These investigated conclusions are very important for ensuring the stability and safety of rock engineering with intermittent structures.

Parallelization of spherical discontinuous deformation analysis(SDDA) for geotechnical problems based on cloud computing environment

The computational efficiency of the traditional serial spherical discontinuous deformation analysis(SDDA) program has limited its application in geotechnical engineering problems that need a large number of spheres. The cloud computing technology is used to parallel the SDDA program for the first time in this research. The most computationally intensive portions of the SDDA program, i.e., contact detection and matrix solution, are parallelized with proposed algorithms. The accuracy of the cloud-based parallel SDDA program(CB-PSDDA) is verified first. Further efficiency tests show that significant speedup can be obtained with an 8-server configuration and the computing scale can be up to several tens of thousands of particles. The cloud-based parallelized SDDA program increases its potential in applications of deformation and failure analysis of large-scale and realistic geotechnical engineering problems.
