Potassium-ion batteries(PIBs)by virtue of their strong cost competitiveness and similar electrochemical properties to lithiumion batteries have been deemed to be a promising electrochemical energy storage technology.To promote the application in the commercial market,developing electrode materials with high specifi c capacities,superior cycling stability,and reliable safety is of great importance.Anode materials as an important component of PIBs play a decisive role,among which twodimensional transition metal chalcogenides(2D TMCs)have attracted wide attention owing to their unique material and electrochemical properties.In the 2D TMCs’family,molybdenum chalcogenides as fl agship are the most studied materials and demonstrated the potential as anodes.With the deepening of research on 2D TMCs,another shining member that possesses similar properties to molybdenum chalcogenides,tungsten chalcogenides(WS_(2),WSe_(2),and WTe_(2)),has aroused tremendous attention.Despite many inspiring results,various challenges remain to be further addressed;meanwhile,some results are still unclear and disputed.Herein,this review fi rst introduces their material properties and electrochemical storage mechanisms.Then,we systematically overview the research progress and put forward promoting improvement strategies.Finally,challenges and opportunities that would be future research directions are discussed.

Molecular copper catalysts serve as exemplary models for correlating the structure-reaction-mechanism relationship in the electrochemical CO_(2) reduction(eCO_(2)R),owing to their adaptable environments surrounding the copper metal centres.This investigation,employing density functional theory calculations,focuses on a novel family of binuclear Cu molecular catalysts.The modulation of their coordination configuration through the introduction of organic groups aims to assess their efficacy in converting CO_(2) to C_(2)products.Our findings highlight the crucial role of chemical valence state in shaping the characteristics of binuclear Cu catalysts,consequently influencing the eCO_(2)R behaviour,Notably,the Cu(Ⅱ)Cu(Ⅱ)macrocycle catalyst exhibits enhanced suppression of the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),facilitating proton trans fer and the eCO_(2)R process.Fu rthermore,we explo re the impact of diverse electro n-withdrawing and electron-donating groups coordinated to the macrocycle(R=-F,-H,and-OCH_3)on the electron distribution in the molecular catalysts.Strategic placement of-OCH_3 groups in the macrocycles leads to a favourable oxidation state of the Cu centres and subsequent C-C coupling to form C_(2) products.This research provides fundamental insights into the design and optimization of binuclear Cu molecular catalysts for the electrochemical conversion of CO_(2) to value-added C_(2) products.

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC)is a serious threat worldwide.Although early screening is suggested to be the most effective method to prevent and control CRC,the current situation of early screening for CRC is still not optimistic.In China,the incidence of CRC in the Yangtze River Delta region is increasing dramatically,but few studies have been conducted.Therefore,it is necessary to develop a simple and efficient early screening model for CRC.AIM To develop and validate an early-screening nomogram model to identify individuals at high risk of CRC.METHODS Data of 64448 participants obtained from Ningbo Hospital,China between 2014 and 2017 were retrospectively analyzed.The cohort comprised 64448 individuals,of which,530 were excluded due to missing or incorrect data.Of 63918,7607(11.9%)individuals were considered to be high risk for CRC,and 56311(88.1%)were not.The participants were randomly allocated to a training set(44743)or validation set(19175).The discriminatory ability,predictive accuracy,and clinical utility of the model were evaluated by constructing and analyzing receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves and calibration curves and by decision curve analysis.Finally,the model was validated internally using a bootstrap resampling technique.RESULTS Seven variables,including demographic,lifestyle,and family history information,were examined.Multifactorial logistic regression analysis revealed that age[odds ratio(OR):1.03,95%confidence interval(CI):1.02-1.03,Pwc)(OR:1.03,95%CI:1.02-1.03 P<0.001),lifestyle(OR:0.45,95%CI:0.42-0.48,P<0.001),and family history(OR:4.28,95%CI:4.04-4.54,P<0.001)were the most significant predictors of high-risk CRC.Healthy lifestyle was a protective factor,whereas family history was the most significant risk factor.The area under the curve was 0.734(95%CI:0.723-0.745)for the final validation set ROC curve and 0.735(95%CI:0.728-0.742)for the training set ROC curve.The calibration curve demonstrated

The European Commission has proposed a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism(CBAM)to reduce carbon leakage and create a level playing field for its domestic products and imported goods.Nevertheless,the effectiveness of the proposal remains unclear,especially when it triggers threats of retaliation from trading partners of the European Union.We apply a Computable General Equilibrium model-Global Trade Analysis Project-to assess the economic and environmental impacts of different CBAM schemes.Here we show that the effectiveness of the CBAM to address carbon leakage risks is rather limited,and the CBAM raises concerns over global welfare costs,Correct to Gross Domestic Product(GDP)losses,and violation of equality principles.Trade retaliation leads to multiplied welfare losses,which would mostly be borne by poor countries.Our results question the carbon leakage reduction effect of a unilateral trade policy and suggest that climate change mitigation still needs to be performed within the framework of international cooperation.

BACKGROUND Although the etiology of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)has not been thoroughly understood,the emerging roles of anthropometric indicators in assessing and predicting the risk of NAFLD have been highlighted by accumulating evidence.AIM To evaluate the causal relationships between five anthropometric indicators and NAFLD employing Mendelian randomization(MR)design.METHODS The Anthropometric Consortium provided genetic exposure data for five anthropometric indicators,including hip circumference(HC),waist circumference(wc),waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),body mass index(BMI),and body fat percentage(BF).Genetic outcome data for NAFLD were obtained from the United Kingdom Biobank and FinnGen Consortium.Genome-wide significant single nucleotide polymorphisms were chosen as instrumental variables.Univariable MR(UVMR)and multivariable MR(MVMR)designs with analytical approaches,including inverse variance weighted(IVW),MR-Egger,weighted median(WM),and weighted mode methods,were used to assess the causal relationships between anthropometric indicators and NAFLD.RESULTS Causal relationships were revealed by UVMR,indicating that a higher risk of NAFLD was associated with a perunit increase in wc[IVW:odds ratio(OR)=2.67,95%CI:1.42-5.02,P=2.25×10^(−3)],and BF was causally associated with an increased risk of NAFLD(WM:OR=2.23,95%CI:1.07-4.66,P=0.033).The presence of causal effects of wc on the decreased risk of NAFLD was supported by MVMR after adjusting for BMI and smoking.However,no causal association between BF and NAFLD was observed.In addition,other causal relationships of HC,WHR(BMI adjusted),and BMI with the risk of NAFLD were not retained after FDR correction.CONCLUSION This study establishes a causal relationship,indicating that an increase in wc is associated with a higher risk of NAFLD.This demonstrates that a suitable decrease in wc is advantageous for preventing NAFLD.

Introduction:Observational studies have revealed an association between waist circumference(wc)and atrial fibrillation(AF).However,it is difficult to infer a causal relationship from observational studies because the observed associations could be confounded by unknown risk factors.Therefore,the causal role of wc in AF is unclear.This study was designed to investigate the causal association between wc and AF using a two-sample Mendelian randomization(MR)analysis.Methods:In our two-sample MR analysis,the genetic variation used as an instrumental variable for MR was acquired from a genome-wide association study(GWAS)of wc(42 single nucleotide polymorphisms with a genetic significance of Pwc(from the Genetic Investigation of ANthropometric Traits consortium,containing 232,101 participants)and the data of AF(from the European Bioinformatics Institute database,containing 55,114 AF cases and 482,295 controls)were used to assess the causal role of wc on AF.Three different approaches(inverse variance weighted[IVW],MR-Egger,and weighted median regression)were used to ensure that our results more reliable.Results:All three MR analyses provided evidence of a positive causal association between high wc and AF.High wc was suggested to increase the risk of AF based on the IVW method(odds ratio[OR]=1.43,95%confidence interval[CI],1.30-1.58,P=2.51×10^(-13)).The results of MR-Egger and weighted median regression exhibited similar trends(MR-Egger OR=1.40[95%CI,1.08-1.81],P=1.61×10^(-2);weighted median OR=1.39[95%CI,1.21-1.61],P=1.62×10^(-6)).MR-Egger intercepts and funnel plots showed no directional pleiotropic effects between high wc and AF.Conclusions:Our findings suggest that greater wc is associated with an increased risk of AF.Taking measures to reduce wc may help prevent the occurrence of AF.

BACKGROUND: Emergency departments(EDs) face problems with overcrowding, access block, cost containment, and increasing demand from patients. In order to resolve these problems, there is rising interest to an approach called "lean" management. This study aims to(1) evaluate the current patient flow in ED,(2) to identify and eliminate the non-valued added process, and(3) to modify the existing process.METHODS: It was a quantitative, pre- and post-lean design study with a series of lean management work implemented to improve the admission and blood result waiting time. These included structured re-design process, priority admission triage(PAT) program, enhanced communication with medical department, and use of new high sensitivity troponin-T(hsTnT) blood test. Triage waiting time, consultation waiting time, blood result time, admission waiting time, total processing time and ED length of stay were compared.RESULTS: Among all the processes carried out in ED, the most time consuming processes were to wait for an admission bed(38.24 minutes; SD 66.35) and blood testing result(mean 52.73 minutes, SD 24.03). The triage waiting time and end waiting time for consultation were significantly decreased. The admission waiting time of emergency medical ward(EMW) was significantly decreased from 54.76 minutes to 24.45 minutes after implementation of PAT program(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The application of lean management can improve the patient flow in ED. Acquiescence to the principle of lean is crucial to enhance high quality emergency care and patient satisfaction.

Background:Choosing the appropriate antipsychotic drug(APD)treatment for patients with schizophrenia(SCZ)can be challenging,as the treatment response to APD is highly variable and difficult to predict due to the lack of effective biomarkers.Previous studies have indicated the association between treatment response and genetic and epigenetic factors,but no effective biomarkers have been identified.Hence,further research is imperative to enhance precision medicine in SCZ treatment.Methods:Participants with SCZ were recruited from two randomized trials.The discovery cohort was recruited from the CAPOC trial(n=2307)involved 6 weeks of treatment and equally randomized the participants to the Olanzapine,Risperidone,Quetiapine,Aripiprazole,Ziprasidone,and Haloperidol/Perphenazine(subsequently equally assigned to one or the other)groups.The external validation cohort was recruited from the CAPEC trial(n=1379),which involved 8 weeks of treatment and equally randomized the participants to the Olanzapine,Risperidone,and Aripiprazole groups.Additionally,healthy controls(n=275)from the local community were utilized as a genetic/epigenetic reference.The genetic and epigenetic(DNA methylation)risks of SCZ were assessed using the polygenic risk score(PRS)and polymethylation score,respectively.The study also examined the genetic-epigenetic interactions with treatment response through differential methylation analysis,methylation quantitative trait loci,colocalization,and promoteranchored chromatin interaction.Machine learning was used to develop a prediction model for treatment response,which was evaluated for accuracy and clinical benefit using the area under curve(AUC)for classification,R^(2) for regression,and decision curve analysis.Results:Six risk genes for SCZ(LINC01795,DDHD2,SBNO1,KCNG2,SEMA7A,and RUFY1)involved in cortical morphology were identified as having a genetic-epigenetic interaction associated with treatment response.The developed and externally validated prediction model,which incorporated clinical information,
