The ex-situ incorporation of the secondary SiC reinforcement,along with the in-situ incorporation of the tertiary and quaternary Mg_(3)N_(2) and Si_(3)N_(4) phases,in the primary matrix of Mg_(2)Si is employed in order to provide ultimate wear resistance based on the laser-irradiation-induced inclusion of N_(2) gas during laser powder bed *** is substantialized based on both the thermal diffusion-and chemical reactionbased metallurgy of the Mg_(2)Si–SiC/nitride hybrid *** study also proposes a functional platform for systematically modulating a functionally graded structure and modeling build-direction-dependent architectonics during additive *** strategy enables the development of a compositional gradient from the center to the edge of each melt pool of the Mg_(2)Si–SiC/nitride hybrid ***,the coefficient of friction of the hybrid composite exhibits a 309.3%decrease to–1.67 compared to–0.54 for the conventional nonreinforced Mg_(2)Si structure,while the tensile strength exhibits a 171.3%increase to 831.5 MPa compared to 485.3 MPa for the conventional *** outstanding mechanical behavior is due to the(1)the complementary and synergistic reinforcement effects of the SiC and nitride compounds,each of which possesses an intrinsically high hardness,and(2)the strong adhesion of these compounds to the Mg_(2)Si matrix despite their small sizes and low concentrations.

To gain beneficial effects in the management of high-risk prostate cancer, an integrated approach that combines local therapy and androgen deprivation therapy （ADT） was used. We compared biochemical responses between primary cryosurgical ablation of the prostate （CSAP） combined with prolonged ADT and radiation combined with ADT, which is the established modality in high-risk disease. A total of 33 high-risk patients received CSAP combined with ADT for 3 months before and up to 24 months after treatment. This patient group was matched with another 33 patients who had undergone three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy （3D-CRT） with the same protocol for ADT. Biochemical recurrence （BCR） was assessed by the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology （ASTRO） definition, the Phoenix definition and a prostate-specific antigen （PSA） cutoff of 0.5 ng mL^-1. Median follow-up was 61.0 ± 11.9 months for the CSAP ＋ ADT group and 86.0±15.8 months for the 3D-CRT ＋ ADT group. In the CSAP group, major complications including rectourethral fistula and incontinence were not noted. In the CSAP ＋ ADT group, 57.0% had BCR using the ASTRO definition, 21.2% using the Phoenix definition and 54.5% using a PSA cutoff of 0.5 ng mL^-1. In the 3D-CRT ＋ ADT group, 54.5%, 21.2% and 54.5% had BCR using the ASTRO, Phoenix and PSA definition, respectively. In the CSAP ＋ ADT group, the BCR-free survival （BRFS） was 54 ± 10 months using the ASTRO definition, 65 ± 5 months using the Phoenix definition and 51 ± 4 months using a PSA cutoff of 0.5 ng mL-1. In the 3D-CRT ＋ ADT group, the BRFS was 68 ± 12, 93 ± 19 and 70 ± 18 months using the ASTRO, Phoenix and PSA definition, respectively. By the log-rank test, the BRFS values for each group were not statistically different. This intermediate-term result indicated that primary CSAP combined with prolonged ADT offers a parallel biochemical response compared with radiotherapy in high-risk prostate cancer.

Testosterone levels in men older than 40 years can decrease at a rate of 1%-2% per year, and reports show that more than 50% of 80-year-old men have testosterone levels consistent with hypogonadism. Late-onset hypogonadism （LOH） is a clinical and biochemical syndrome associated with advancing age and characterized by typical symptoms of serum testosterone deficiency. In recent decades, the concept of LOH in ageing men has become familiar in European countries and the United States. It is also a topic of interest and debate throughout Korea. However, most of the data regarding advantages or disadvantages of testosterone replacement therapy （TRT） as treatment for LOH have been primarily obtained from studies on Western populations; therefore, studies of the effects of TRT in Asian men, who may have different serum testosterone compared to Western men, are needed. TRT is commonly prescribed in Korea, despite the paucity of studies on the effects of TRT in Asian populations. Data from various TRT studies based on Korean have shown its efficacy in increasing serum testosterone levels and improving subjective symptoms as assessed by questionnaires. Currently, patches and short-acting intramuscular injections are displaced by gels and long-acting formulations. However, to prevent overdiagnosis and overtreatment, indication for TRT should include both low testosterone levels and symptoms and signs of hypogonadism.

Objective:To establish an efficacious and efficient fermentation method of enhancing the anti-adipogenesis effect of mulberry(Morus alba) leaves using Cordyceps ***:Dried mulberry leaves,dried mulberry leaves with50% raw silkworm pupa and raw silkworm pupa were fermented with Cordyceps militais for 4 weeks at 25℃,after which the dried mulberry leaves and fermented product were extracted with 70%ethanol and subjected to high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).The contents of cordycepin,pelargonidin,chlorogenic acid,iso-quercetin and caffeic acid were *** then used the 3 T3-L1 cells to investigate whether extracts of fermentation enhanced anti-adipogenesis activity in ***:HPLC showed that fermentation changed the contents of cordycepin,pelargonidin,chlorogenic acid,iso-quercetin and caffeic ***,fermented dried mulberry leaves with 50% raw silkworm pupa had a better efficacy of anti-adipogenesis than dried mulberry leaves,fermented dried mulberry leaves and fermented silkworm pupa and inhibited triglycerides accumulation and glucose ***,fermented dried mulberry leaves with50% raw silkworm pupa inhibited PPAR-γ ***:Fermentation with Cordyceps militaris enhanced antiadipogenesis efficacy of mulberry leaves.

BACKGROUND When a firm facial mass in the cheek region is associated with a high index of clinical suspicion of its being of parotid gland origin,preventive parotidectomy is invariably *** report a rare case of a schwannoma that was suspected to be of parotid gland origin in a patient,who underwent successful surgical management using a modified-Blair incision and superficial musculoaponeurotic system(SMAS)layer folding *** SUMMARY A 27-year-old woman presented to the hospital for evaluation of a firm,fixed,non-tender mass(2.5 cm×3.5 cm),located anterior to the right ear,of 1 year’s ***-enhanced facial computed tomography revealed a wellencapsulated,low-density mass adherent to the superficial lobe of the right parotid gland,with a high index of clinical suspicion of an accessory parotid gland *** patient was scheduled to undergo resection of the mass and superficial *** underwent surgery using a modified-Blair incision,and the SMAS layer was folded posteriorly to reconstruct the *** examination confirmed the diagnosis of a schwannoma.,and we observed no postoperative complications such as hematoma,infection,or abnormal facial *** incision scar was unnoticeable 2 mo postoperatively,and the facial contour was maintained without any differences between the affected and unaffected *** We used a modified-Blair incision and SMAS layer folding method to achieve aesthetically good results following resection of a rare schwannoma with superficial parotidectomy in the cheek region.

The objective of this work is to compare the tool performance of TiN and TiA1N coated carbides end-mills deposited by an arc ion plating （ALP） method, using honing treatment to polish the cutting edge surface sleekly. The curve of surface roughness versus honing time showed a rapid improvement initially and thereafter became steady, manifesting a saturation effect. The optimal honing time related to surface roughness was determined to be approximately 20 s. As the surface roughness increased, the critical loads reduced. At an average surface roughness （Ra） of 0.028 p.m, the highest critical loads of TiN and TiAlN coating layers were 98 and 114 N, respectively. Tool performances of uncoated and coated tools were conducted under high speed machining （HSM） of AISI D2 cold-worked die steel （62 HRC）. Consequently, the TiAlN coated end-mill using honing treatment showed excellent tool life under HSM conditions.

BACKGROUND The nasal bone,being the most protruding bone in the center of the facial bones,is particularly susceptible to *** bone fractures can often result in secondary deformation and dysfunction of the nose,including septal *** on functional or intra-nasal complications have been rarely reported after nasal bone fracture *** To evaluate the severity of nasal obstruction and its improvement following nasal bone fracture reduction using inferior *** We conducted a retrospective review of data from 50 patients with symptomatic nasal obstruction between January to December *** patients underwent preoperative Computed tomography evaluation,and symptom changes and nasal cavity volume were analyzed using a visual analog scale and acoustic rhinometry before and after *** reduction and out-fracture of both inferior turbinates performed by the same *** outcomes were assessed by comparing changes in the nasal airway volume measured using acoustic rhinometry before and after *** minimal cross-sectional area(MCA)was also analyzed based on the Stranc *** Before reduction,the mean MCA for all cases was 0.59±0.06 cm^(2),which represented an 11%decrease compared to the average size of a Korean adult(0.65±0.03 cm^(2)).The MCA for frontal impact was 0.60±0.02 cm^(2) and for lateral impact,it was 0.58±0.03 cm^(2).After reduction via inferior turbinoplasty,the MCA improved to 0.64±0.04 cm^(2).CONCLUSION This study suggests that turbinoplasty is helpful in addressing nasal ***-fracture of the inferior turbinate is an effective and durable technique that can be easily performed to enlarge the nasal airway with minimal morbidity.

Aqueous ammonia （NH3） solution can be used as an alternative absorption for the control of CO2 emitted from flue gases due to its high absorption capacity, fast absorption rate and low corrosion problem. The emission of CO2 from iron and steel plants requires much attention, as they are higher than those emitted from power plants at a single point source. In the present work, low concentration ammonia liquor, 9 wt.%, was used with various additives to obtain the kinetic properties using the blast furnace gas model. Although a solution with a high ammonia concentration enables high CO2 absorption efficiency, ammonium ions are lost as ammonia vapor, resulting in reduced CO2 absorption due to the lower concentration of the ammonia absorbent. To decrease the vaporization of ammonia, ethylene glycol, glycerol and glycine, which contain more than one hydroxyl radical, were chosen. The experiments were conducted at 313 K similar to the CO2 absorption conditions for the blast furnace gas model.

The discovery of magnetic skyrmions provides a promising pathway for developing functional spintronic memory and logic devices. Towards the future high-density memory application, nanoscale skyrmions with miniaturized diameters, ideally down to 20 nm are required. Using x-ray magnetic circular dichroism transmission microscopy,nanoscale skyrmions are observed in the [Pt/Co/Ir]15 multilayer at room temperature. In particular, small skyrmions with minimum diameters approaching 20 nm could be generated by the current-induced spin-orbit torques. Through implementing material specific parameters, the dynamic process of skyrmion generation is further investigated by performing micromagnetic simulations. According to the simulation results, we find that both the tube-like Neel-type skyrmions and the bobber-like Neel-type skyrmions can be electrically generated. In particular, the size of the bobber-like Neel-type skyrmions can be effectively reduced by the spin-orbit torques,which leads to the formation of 20 nm Neel-type skyrmions. Our findings could be important for understanding the formation dynamics of nanoscale Neel-type spin textures, skyrmions and bobber in particular, which could also be useful for promoting nanoscale skyrmionic memories and logic devices.
