Objective:To investigate the suitability of citrus-press cakes,by-products of the juice industry as a source for the whitening agents for cosmetic ***:Ethylacetate extracts of citrus-press cakes(CCE)were examined for their anti-melanogenic potentials in terms of the inhibition of melanin production and mechanisim of melanogenesis by using Western Blot analysis with tyrosinese,tyrosinase-related protein-1(TRP-1),TRP2,and microphthalmia-associated transcription factor(MITF)*** apply the topical agents,citrus-press cakes was investigated the safety in human skin cell *** flavonoid analysis of CCE was also determined by HPLC ***:Results indicated that CCE were shown to down-regulate melanin content in a dose-dependent *** CCE inhibited tyrosinase,TRP-2,and MITF expressions in a dose-dependent *** test the applicability of CCE to human skin,we used MTT assay to assess the cytotoxic effects of CCE on human keratinocyte HaCaT *** CCE exhibited low cytotoxicity at 50μg/*** of the citrus-press cakes for flavonoid contents using HPLC showed varied quantity of rutin,narirutin,and ***:Considering the anti-melanogenic activity and human safety,CCE is considered as a potential anti-melanogenic agent and may be effective for topical application for treating hyperpigmentation disorders.

Microalgae are one of the promising feedstocks for biorefinery,contributing significantly to net-zero emissions through carbon capture and ***,the disposal of microalgal byproducts from the manufacturing process causes additional environmental pollution,thus,a new application strategy is *** this study,the Tetraselmis suecica byproduct from the carotenoid extraction process was carbonized and converted into *** converted biochar was proved to be nitrogen-doped biochar(NDB),up to 4.69%,with a specific surface area of 206.59m^(2)/g andwas used as an electrode for a *** NDB electrode(NDB-E)in half-cell showed a maximum specific capacitance of 191 F/*** a full-cell test,the NDB-E exhibited a high energy density of 7.396 Wh/kg and a high-power density of 18,100 W/kg,and maintained specific capacity of 95.5%after charge and discharge of 10,000 *** conclusion,our study demonstrated that the carotenoid-extracted microalgal byproducts are a useful resource for the supercapacitor *** approach is the first to convert *** into active materials for supercapacitors.

High-mobility group box 1 was first discovered in the calf thymus as a DNA-binding nuclear protein and has been widely studied in diverse fields,including neurology and ***-mobility group box 1 in the extracellular space functions as a pro-inflammatory damage-associated molecular pattern,which has been proven to play an important role in a wide variety of central nervous system disorders such as ischemic stroke,Alzheimer’s disease,frontotemporal dementia,Parkinson’s disease,multiple sclerosis,epilepsy,and traumatic brain *** drugs that inhibit high-mobility group box 1 as a damage-associated molecular pattern,such as glycyrrhizin,ethyl pyruvate,and neutralizing anti-high-mobility group box 1 antibodies,are commonly used to target high-mobility group box 1 activity in central nervous system *** it is commonly known for its detrimental inflammatory effect,high-mobility group box 1 has also been shown to have beneficial pro-regenerative roles in central nervous system *** this narrative review,we provide a brief summary of the history of high-mobility group box 1 research and its characterization as a damage-associated molecular pattern,its downstream receptors,and intracellular signaling pathways,how high-mobility group box 1 exerts the repair-favoring roles in general and in the central nervous system,and clues on how to differentiate the pro-regenerative from the pro-inflammatory *** targeting high-mobility group box 1 in the central nervous system may benefit from differentiating between the two functions rather than overall suppression of high-mobility group box 1.

Surgical treatment of liver metastasis with uveal melanoma:A case report

BACKGROUND Uveal melanoma is the most common primary intraocular malignant tumor affecting the eyes in *** half of all primary uveal melanoma tumors metastasize;yet,there are currently no effective treatments for metastatic uveal *** the time of diagnosis,less than 4%of patients with uveal melanoma have detectable metastatic *** melanoma disseminates hematogenously,with the most common site of metastasis being liver(93%),followed by lung(24%)and bone(16%).CASE SUMMARY A 57-year-old woman was diagnosed with a dysplastic nevus on her eyelid,which was histologically confirmed as malignant melanoma after *** patient had no evidence of metastasis to other organs and received both radiation therapy and *** systemic treatment,a metastatic left neck lymph node was found and another round of chemotherapy was performed after *** emission tomography-Computed Tomography tracking after completion of chemotherapy revealed two metastatic liver *** patient underwent partial liver resection and showed no signs of recurrence at 1 year after *** Surgery is an effective treatment for metastatic uveal *** patients with liver metastatic lesions,hepatectomy improves outcome.

Effects of Cr interlayer on mechanical and tribological properties of Cr-Al-Si-N nanocomposite coating

Cr-A1-Si-N coatings were deposited on SUS 304 substrate by a hybrid coating system. A Cr interlayer was introduced between Cr-A1-Si-N coating and SUS 304 substrate to improve the coating adherence. The effects of Cr interlayer on the microhardness, adhesion, and tribological behavior of Cr-A1-Si-N coatings were systematically investigated. The results indicate that the microhardness of the Cr-A1-Si-N coatings gradually deceases with increasing thickness of Cr interlayers. The adhesion between Cr-A1-Si-N and SUS 304 substrate is improved by addition of the Cr interlayers. A peak critical load of-50 N is observed for the coating containing Cr interlayer of 60 nm as compared - 20 N for the coating without Cr interlayer. The thicker Cr interlayers result in reduced critical load values. Moreover, the wear resistance of the Cr-AI-Si-N coatings is greatly enhanced by introducing the Cr interlayer with thickness of 60 nm in spite of the decreased microhardness. The friction coefficient of the coating system is also moderately reduced.
