＜正＞ In order to take into account decay/collapse of soil skeleton structure and loss of overconsolidation the super/subloading yield surface modified Cam-Clay model with rotational hardening （SYS Cam-Clay Model） was newly developed by the Nagoya university soil mechanics group. In this study, the compaction/liquefaction of loose sand and the secondary consolidation/delayed compression of highly structured clay are both discussed commonly from the view point of decay/collapse of soil skeleton structure. Liquefaction-induced large scale consolidation of looses sand, which occurs after full collapse of the soil skeleton structure, is also discussed from the characteristic nature of loss of overconsolidation that can be found particularly in sand. Distinguishing the mechanical difference between sand and clay, the super/subloading elasto-plastic constitutive model still explains the mechanisms of the volume compression of these soils consistently.

AIMTo examine phosphorylation of alphaB-crystallin (p-αBC), a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) chaperone, and immunohistochemically investigate relationship between p-αBC, VEGF and phosphorylated p38-mitogen-activated protein kinase (p-p38 MAPK) in the epiretinal membrane of human proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR).METHODSEleven epiretinal membranes of PDR surgically excised were included in this study. Two normal retinas were also collected from enucleation tissues due to choroidal melanoma. Paraformaldehyde-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections were processed for immunohistochemistry with anti-p-αBC, VEGF, CD31, and p-p38 MAPK *** for p-αBC was observed in all of the epiretinal membranes examined, where phosphorylation on serine (Ser) 59 showed strongest immunoreactivity in over 70% of the membranes. The immunolocalization of p-αBC was detected in the CD31-positive endothelial cells, and co-localized with VEGF and p-p38 MAPK in PDR membranes. Immunoreactivity for p-αBC, however, was undetectable in endothelial cells of the normal retinas, where p-p38 MAPK immunoreactivity was less marked than PDR *** of αBC, in particular, phosphorylation on Ser59 by p-p38 MAPK may play a potential role as a molecular chaperon for VEGF in the pathogenesis of epiretinal membranes in PDR.

In single photon emission computed tomography-based three-dimensional radiotherapy(SPECT-B-3DCRT), im-ages of Tc-99 m galactosyl human serum albumin(GSA), which bind to receptors on functional liver cells, are merged with the computed tomography simulation im-ages. Functional liver is defined as the area of normal liver where GSA accumulation exceeds that of hepato-cellular carcinoma(HCC). In cirrhotic patients with a gigantic, proton-beam-untreatable HCC of ≥ 14 cm in diameter, the use of SPECT-B-3DCRT in combination with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization achieved a 2-year local tumor control rate of 78.6% and a 2-year survival rate of 33.3%. SPECT-B-3DCRT was applied to HCC to preserve as much functional liver as possible. Sixty-four patients with HCC, including 30 with Child B liver cirrhosis, received SPECT-B-3DCRT and none ex-perienced fatal radiation-induced liver disease(RILD). The Child-Pugh score deteriorated by 1 or 2 in > 20% of functional liver volume that was irradiated with ≥ 20 Gy. The deterioration in the Child-Pugh score decreased when the radiation plan was designed to irradiate ≤ 20% of the functional liver volume in patients givendoses of ≥ 20 Gy(FLV20Gy). Therefore, FLV20 Gy ≤ 20% may represent a safety index to prevent RILD during 3DCRT for HCC. To supplement FLV20 Gy as a qualitative index, we propose a quantitative indicator, F 20 Gy, which was calculated as F 20 Gy = 100% ×(the GSA count in the area irradiated with ≥ 20 Gy)/(the GSA count in the whole liver).

High Z and low Z materials are both the candidate plasma facing materials (PFM), up to now, the typical representative of high Z materials is tungsten, and the representatives of low Z materials are carbon materials (such as graphite, C/C composite) and beryllium. Most of these materials have been used as PFM limiters and diverter armor tiles of tokamak machines, tungsten, molybdenum and C/C composite are always used as high heat flux components.

Two dimensional asynchronous spectra were used to characterize coordination between carbonyl group of butanone and metal ions by using an approach proposed in our recent *** variation of n-π^＊transition band of carbonyl group is used to probe the coordination even if metal ions does not possess any characteristic peak in *** results indicate that Ca^2＋ and Al^3＋ show considerable ability to coordinate with the carbonyl group of butanone and bring about spectral variation of the n-π-＊transition band,which is manifested by cross peaks in 2D asynchronous spectra.

Prediction of colorectal tumor grade and invasion depth through narrow-band imaging scoring

AIM To determine the usefulness of assigning narrow-band imaging(NBI) scores for predicting tumor grade and invasion depth in colorectal *** A total of 161 colorectal lesions were analyzed from138 patients who underwent endoscopic or surgical resection after conventional colonoscopy and magnifying endoscopy with NBI. The relationships between the surface and vascular patterns of the lesions, as visualized with NBI, and the tumor grade and depth of submucosa(SM) invasion were determined *** were assigned to distinct features of the surface microstructures of tubular and papillary-type *** a multivariate analysis, a model was developed for predicting the tumor grade and depth of invasion based on NBI-finding *** NBI findings that correlated with a high tumor grade were associated with the "regular/irregular"(P < 0.0001)surface patterns and the "avascular area" pattern(P =0.0600). The vascular patterns of "disrupted vessels"(P = 0.0714) and "thick vessels"(P = 0.0133) but none of the surface patterns were associated with a depth of invasion of ≥ 1000 μm. In our model, a total NBIfinding score ≥ 1 was indicative of a high tumor grade(sensitivity: 0.97; specificity: 0.24), and a total NBIfinding score ≥ 9(sensitivity: 0.56; specificity: 1.0) was predictive of a SM invasion depth ≥ 1000 μm. Scores less than these cutoff values signified adenomas and a SM invasion depth < 1000 μm, respectively. Gender Differences in Coffee Consumption and Its Effects in Young People

This study aimed to examine gender differences in coffee consumption and awareness of its effects in young people. To examine the above problem, a survey was conducted in 1189 young people (567 males aged 19.3 ± 1.5 years;622 females aged 19.1 ± 1.2 years). The coffee consumption rate was significantly higher in males (50.8%) than in females (32.8%). In the coffee consumption group, no significant differences were found in the reasons for consumption, the components of coffee, and its effects on health. In the coffee nonconsumption group, significant gender differences were noted in the reasons for avoiding coffee;females (64.8%) disliked its taste more than males (39.4%). More young people of both genders in the consumption group were aware that coffee contains caffeine (79.9% - 86.5%) as compared with the nonconsumption group (67.0% - 74.2%). However, few people in both groups were aware about the components other than caffeine. In addition, more people in the nonconsumption group were unaware of the adverse effects of coffee on the body. The results of this study demonstrated that young males drink coffee more than young females. Among those who avoided coffee consumption, females disliked its taste more than males. Many people regardless of coffee consumption were aware about the components of coffee, but few knew about the other ingredients in this beverage. In addition, few people were aware of the negative effects of coffee on the health and body.
