Background Only a few reports have currently studied the efficacy of dutasteride in patients with small benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).We investigated the efficacy of dutasteride on reducing lower urinary tract symptoms among *** and methods A total of 81 patients with BPH who completed 52weeks of 0.5?mg dutasteride treatment were *** patient filled out the International Prostatic Symptom Score(IPSS)and overactive bladder symptom score(OABSS)at baseline and at the 6-and 12-month follow-up *** testosterone,prostate-specific antigen,adenoma/prostate volume(PV),uroflowmetry analysis,and postvoid residual volume were evaluated at baseline and at the 12-month follow-up *** enrolled patients were divided into 2 groups according to PV at *** groups were as follows:Group A(PV≥30 mL)and Group B(PV<30 mL).Results Groups A and B had mean PVs of 52.1 and 23.6 mL and mean IPSS scores of 16.7 and 14.4,*** A had significantly higher OABSS and prostate-specific antigen levels at baseline than Group B,while no significant differences in any other baseline characteristics was *** dutasteride treatment,adenoma volume and PV decreased significantly,while testosterone level showed a significant increase in both *** A showed significant improvements in the total IPSS,voiding and storage subscore of the IPSS,OABSS,maximum flow rate,and postvoid residual *** B,on the other hand,also showed significant improvements only in the total IPSS,voiding subscore of the IPSS,and maximum flow *** The present study suggests a possible beneficial effect of dutasteride treatment on the reduction of lower urinary tract symptoms in patients with small and large ***,the effectiveness of dutasteride was limited compared to patients with large BPH(PV≥30 mL).

北朝墓志是近年推动中国中古史研究取得重要进展的关键史料。本文在充分吸收近年中古碑志研究新动向的基础上,围绕“为什么要制作墓志”这一朴素的设问进行了相当全面的省思与探索。北朝时期墓葬的营建基于时人的冥界观,置于其中的墓志却缺乏宗教色彩,主要反映了丧家之愿,期望志主的功德能在冥界永存。墓志以行状为素材撰成,可视为被死者带入冥界的具有“公”之意义的文书。丧家提供行状给墓志撰者,收到墓志文稿后仍需根据具体情况进行若干调整,在此过程中容易产生“异刻”现象。夫妇合葬却不制作妻子墓志的现象也不容忽视。不是单独聚焦于墓志,需要在墓葬整体中对墓志进行考察。

Surface Activities of Calix [4]resorcinarenes Bearing Four Hydrophobic Chains and Its Solubilization for Organic Compounds

Calix resorcinarenes bearing four hydrophobic side chains ( Ar-Rn, Ar-Ph, and Ar-N) orient stably on water oil interface and show high solubilization capacities for organic compounds, such as long chain alcohols, benzene, toluene and dyes. The capacities are high even near the cmc of polyalkylated calix resorcinarenes, but the solubilities of organic compounds(solubilizates) decrease with the increase of the size of the solubilizates. Ar-R 6, with a chain length of six carbons, is the most effective among Ar-R n , Ar-Ph, and Ar-N; 11 fold mol of hexanol is dissolved in 2×10 -3 mol/L Ar-R 6. Moreover, Ar-R n bearing four alkyl side chains solubilizes the chain alcohols of the same chain length mostly. The solubilization capacities are presumably brought by inclusion in a large cavity of the polyalkylated calix resorcinarenes and by an efficient orientation of the solubilizates.

The rotating stall in a centrifugal compressor with a vaneless diffuser was investigated both experimentally and numerically with focus on the effect of the internal flow field within the impeller on the diffuser *** numerical analysis,the boundary layer separation at the impeller outlet was found to play an important role in the expansion and rotation processes of the diffuser *** particular,the expanded boundary layer separation near the hub side at the outlet of the main blade(M.B.)suction surface passage was considered to be the main cause of the expansion and rotation processes.A longitudinal vortex existed at the throat of the ***,and the mass flow rate in the *** was significantly reduced by the blockage *** addition,the longitudinal vortex induced the rolling up flow near the hub side at the impeller ***,the boundary layer separation expanded.

In this paper, the convection structure in a rectangular channel with a horizontal flow was studied for the aspect ratio ГA=12 and the separation ratio ψ=-0.11. Our simulations were preformed by solving the hydrodynamic equations using the SIMPLE method. In the system of binary fluid convection with a horizontal flow, a Periodically Localized Traveling Wave （PLTW） state was found. It has similar behavior to classical Rayleigh-Benard convection in a binary fluid mixture, but the region and wave number of convection change periodically with time. The instability of PLTW depends on the Rayleigh number r and the intensity of horizontal flows Re for given ψ. Thus, the PLTW convection results from the competition between the horizontal flow and the counter-propagating wave near the onset of convection.

Amplification of flood discharge caused by the cascading failure of landslide dams

The cascading failure of multiple landslide dams can trigger a larger peak flood discharge than that caused by a single dam failure. Therefore, for an accurate numerical simulation, it is essential to elucidate the primary factors affecting the peak discharge of the flood caused by a cascading failure, which is the purpose of the current study. First, flume experiments were done on the cascading failure of two landslide dams under different upstream dam heights, downstream dam heights, and initial downstream reservoir water volumes. Then, the experimental results were reproduced using a numerical simulation model representing landslide dam erosion resulting from overtopping flow. Finally, the factors influencing the peak flood discharge caused by the cascading failure were analyzed using the numerical simulation model. Experimental results indicated that the inflow discharge into the downstream dam at the time when the downstream dam height began to rapidly erode was the main factor responsible for a cascading failure generating a larger peak flood discharge than that generated by a single dam ***, the results of a sensitivity analysis suggested that the upstream and downstream dam heights, initial water volume in the reservoir of the downstream dam, upstream and downstream dam crest lengths, and distance between two dams were among the most important factors in predicting the flood discharge caused by the cascading failure of multiple landslide dams.

We report a case of acute fulminant amoebic colitis that resulted in the development of a perianal ulcer in a 29-year-old Japanese homosexual man with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The patient was admitted to our hospital with a persistent perianal abscess that was refractory to antibiotic therapy adminis-tered at another hospital. On admission, we observed a giant ulcer in the perianal region. At first, cytomega-lovirus colitis was suspected by blood investigations. Ganciclovir therapy was initiated; however, the patient developed necrosis of the skin around the anus during therapy. We only performed end-sigmoidostomy and necrotomy to avoid excessive surgical invasion. Histopathological examination of the surgical specimen revealed the presence of trophozoite amoebae, indicating a final diagnosis of acute fulminant amoebic colitis. The patient's postoperative course was favorable, and proctectomy of the residual rectum was performed 11 mo later. Amoebic colitis is one of the most severe complications affecting patients with AIDS. Particularly, acute fulminant amoebic colitis may result in a poor prognosis; therefore, staged surgical therapy as a lessinvasive procedure should be considered as one of the treatment options for these patients.

Case study of debris flow disaster scenario caused by torrential rain on Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto, Japan - using Hyper KANAKO system

This paper presents debris-flow numerical simulations using the Hyper KANAKO system,developed by the *** system uses the debris flow simulator KANAKO 2D equipped with a graphical user interface(GUI);hence,a user can easily produce appropriate landform data for simulations using standard laser profiler data,and visualize the results using a *** KANAKO was applied to the streams around Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto,***-dera is a famous temple in Japan which is visited by numerous tourists throughout the *** simulated a disaster scenario of debris flow caused by torrential *** set the hydrograph using rainfall intensity data,and set the landform data using information from the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan(GSI) and a digital elevation model(DEM).We evaluated different mesh sizes and also used a digital surface model(DSM) to consider the building *** simulation results showed that with small mesh size,the debris flowmoved through the roads,which seems realistic for a disaster *** buildings were considered,the flow direction changed,and a 1-m flow depth,which was deeper than in other cases,appeared in the flow *** may pose a dangerous situation for evacuations.
