Silicon nanowires（SiNWs） encapsulated with graphene-like carbon sheath（GS） having a void space in between（SiNW@V@GS） are demonstrated for the improved electrochemical performance of Si anode in lithium ion battery. The Si NW@V@GS structure was synthesized by a scalable fabrication method including four successive reactions： metal-catalyzed CVD growth of Si NWs, controlled thermal oxidation, and deposition of the graphitic layer, to form Si NW@SiO2@GS and additional chemical etching of sacrificial SiO2 layer between Si NWs and carbon sheath. During the synthetic process, the thickness of the void spacing was controlled by adjusting the oxidation-dependent process. The well-controlled void space and crystalline graphitic carbon sheath of the SiNW@V@GS structure enable good reversible capacity of1444 m Ahg^（-1） and cycling stability of 85% over 150 cycles.

BACKGROUND To the best of our knowledge,cases of Kawasaki disease(KD)occurring at the age of 12 are rare,even in Asia where the incidence of KD is *** report a case of lymph-node-first presentation of KD(NFKD)in a 12-year-old girl with Mycoplasma pneumoniae(***)infection who presented with prolonged fever and lymphadenitis refractory to macrolide *** SUMMARY A previously healthy 12-year-old girl presented with fever,myalgia,sore throat,swelling,and tenderness on the right side of the *** was initially diagnosed with lymphadenitis caused by *** refractory to macrolide *** had elevated brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)***,the patient was diagnosed with *** receiving intravenous immunoglobulin,the fever resolved,and her symptoms *** NFKD should be differentiated from adolescent lymphadenitis presenting with prolonged fever by checking the BNP level early.

The debris from exploded buildings can ricochet after colliding with the ground,thus increasing the debris travel distance and danger from any associated impacts or *** reduce this danger,the travel distance of ricocheted debris must be accurately *** study analyzed the change in the travel distance of ricocheted concrete debris relative to changes in the properties of a sand *** shear tests were conducted to measure the change in internal friction angle as a function of temperature and water content of the *** element analysis(FEA)was then applied to these variables to predict the speed and angle of the debris after *** FEA results were compared with results of low-speed ricochet experiments,which employed variable temperature and water *** travel distance of the debris was calculated using MATLAB,via trajectory equations considering the drag *** the internal friction angle decreased,the shear stress decreased,leading to deeper penetration of the debris into the *** the loss of kinetic energy increased,the velocity and travel distance of the ricocheted debris *** in the ricochet velocity and travel distance of the debris,according to changes in the internal friction angle,indicated that the debris was affected by the environment.

AIM: To investigate the abnormalities in the meibomian gland in patients with dry eye disease(DED) associated with chronic ocular graft-versus-host disease(coGVHD) in comparison with Sj?gren's syndrome(SS), a major form of aqueous deficient DED and meibomian gland dysfunction(MGD), a common cause of evaporative ***: A total 135 eyes of 135 subjects included in this study: patients with DED associated with coGVHD(n=30), patients with SS(n=35), patients with MGD(n=35), and normal controls(n=35). All participants completed the Ocular Surface Disease Index(OSDI) questionnaire, ocular surface examination [Schirmer test, tear film breakup time(TFBUT), and ocular surface staining], and meibomian gland assessment [meiboscore(gland dropout detected on meibography using infrared camera of the Keratograph 5 M), meibum expressibility score(MES), meibum quality score(MQS), lid margin abnormality]. In addition, correlations of meibomian gland characteristics with ocular surface parameters as well as disease severity score were investigated in coGVHD ***: The coGVHD group showed significantly higher meiboscore, MES, and MQS than the other 3 groups(all P<0.05). In the coGVHD group, parameters of meibomian gland showed a significant correlation each other and those of ocular surface. The correlation between meibomian gland parameters and severity score of co GVHD was also established(meiboscore, r=0.62; MES, r=0.47; MQS, r=0.47; lid margin abnormality score, r=0.55; all P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Patients with DED associated with co GVHD show poorer gland morphology and worse glandfunction than other types of DED. In addition, meibomian gland damage is not only associated with ocular surface damage but also disease severity of coGVHD.

Prompt revascularization of the superior mesenteric artery(SMA) thrombotic occlusion can prevent intestinal infarction and decrease necrosis of the bowel ***,we describe two cases who underwent successful endovascular recanalization for acute SMA thrombosis using a primary aspiration thrombectomy because of possible consequent laparotomy for survey of bowel *** two patients had dramatic pain reliefimmediately after the procedure and remained symptomfree during the follow-up period.

Lignin is an important factor affecting agricultural traits, biofuel production, and the pulping industry. Most lignin biosynthesis genes and their regulatory genes are expressed mainly in the vascular bundles of stems and leaves, preferentially in tissues undergoing Iignification. Other genes are poorly expressed during normal stages of development, but are strongly induced by abiotic or biotic stresses. Some are expressed in non-lignifying tissues such as the shoot apical meristem. Alterations in lignin levels affect plant develop- ment. Suppression of lignin biosynthesis genes causes abnormal phenotypes such as collapsed xylem, bending stems, and growth retardation. The loss of expression by genes that function early in the lignin biosynthesis pathway results in more severe developmental phenotypes when compared with plants that have mutations in later genes. Defective lignin deposition is also associated with phenotypes of seed shattering or brittle culm. MYB and NAC transcriptional factors function as switches, and some homeobox proteins negatively control lignin biosynthesis genes. Ectopic deposition caused by overexpression of lignin biosynthesis genes or master switch genes induces curly leaf formation and dwarfism.

Aluminum welding using a hybrid system with a laser and scanner welding head was performed under various welding conditions to verify the feasibility of applying an aluminum alloy to a car *** experimental material was 5J32 aluminum alloy,and the laser power,welding speed,and laser incidence angle were used as the control *** weld bead shape and the tensile shear strength were evaluated in order to understand the aluminum lap joint weld *** of variance (ANOVA) was conducted to identify the effect of the process variables on the tensile shear *** strength estimation models using three different regression models were also *** input variables were the laser power,welding speed,and laser incidence angle,and the output was the tensile shear *** the models,the second-order polynomial estimation model had the best estimation performance,and the average error rate of this model was 0.058.

Critical cooling rate to avoid carbide precipitation during quenching of austenitic manganese steel was investigated by means of optical microscopy,image analyzer and numerical *** efficient heat treatment analysis program including temperature-dependent material properties was developed for the prediction of cooling rate and probability of carbide precipitation during quenching by finite difference ***-dependent heat transfer coefficient was adopted to achieve more precise *** ratio of carbide precipitation was measured by image analyzer to determine the critical point of carbide ***-dependent critical cooling rate at that point was calculated by the developed numerical ***,the probability of carbide precipitation on the whole area of specimen can be predicted by the proposed numerical program and the numerical result of a specimen was compared with the experimental result.
