Relationship of multidrug-resistant gene and extended-spectrum carbapenem-resistance in Staphylococcus aureus

The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility patterns and extended-spectrum,carbapenem-resistance genes.A total of 109 clinical Staphilococcus aureus strains were subjected to 19 antimicrobial susceptibility *** to methicillin(mecA),penicillin(blaTEM),and tetracycline(tetM)was *** compared the presence of the blaTEM genes with extended-spectrum,carbapenem-related genes and identified the types of SCCmec *** 109 clinical *** strains,62(56.88%)had methicillin resistance and 60 strains carried *** prevalence of blaTEM and tetM genes was 81.65%and 37.61%,*** most predominant SCCmec type was SCCmec type Ⅱ 28/60(46.67%),in 60 mecA-positive methicillin-resistant ***(MRSA)*** SCCmec prevalence rates were type ⅣA 30.00%(18/60),type Ⅳb 8.33%(5/60),type Ⅳd 6.67%(4/60),and non-typable 8.33%(5/60).Sixty of the 109(55.05%)MRSA isolates were positive for extended-spectrum carbapenems(31/60)(51.67%),cephalosporins 40/60(66.67%)and carbapenems 31/60(51.67%).The predominant SCCmec type II demonstrated more carbapenem-resistance than the ⅣA,Ⅳb and Ⅳd types.

Regular physical activity(PA)is known to enhance multifaceted health beneﬁts,including both physical and mental ***,traditional in-person physical activity programs have drawbacks,including time constraints for busy *** evidence suggests positive impacts on mental health through mobile-based physical activity,effects of accumulated short bouts of physical activity using mobile devices are ***,this study aims to investigate these effects,focusing on depression,perceived stress,and negative affectivity among South Korean college ***-six healthy college students were divided into the accumulated group(n=23,female=47.8%)and control group(n=23,female=47.6%).The accumulated group engaged in mobile-based physical activity,following guidelines to accumulate a minimum of two times per day and three times a *** were divided into short bouts,ensuing each bout lasted at least 10 *** control group did not engage in any speciﬁc physical *** data analysis involved comparing the scores of the intervention and control groups using several statistical techniques,such as independent sample t-test,paired sample t-tests,and 2(time)×2(group)repeated measures analysis of *** demographic characteristics at the pre-test showed no statistically signiﬁcant differences between the *** accumulated group had signiﬁcant decreases in depression(t_(40)=2.59,p=0.013,Cohen’s D=0.84)and perceived stress(t_(40)=2.06,p=0.046,Cohen’s D=0.56)from the pre-to *** control group exhibited no statistically signiﬁcant differences in any ***,there were signiﬁcant effects of time on depression scores(F1,36=4.77,p=0.036,η_(p)^(2)=0.12)while signiﬁcant interaction effects were also observed for depression(F_(1,36)=6.59,p=0.015,η_(p)^(2)=0.16).This study offers informative insights into the potential advantages of mobile-based physical activity programs with accumulated periods for enhancing mental health

Cesium lead halide perovskite(CsPbX_(3),X=Cl,Br,I)quantum dots(QDs)and their partly Mn^(2+)-substituted QDs(CsPb1–xMnxX3)attract considerable attention owing to their unique photoluminescence(PL)*** two types of QDs,having different PL decay dynamics,needed to be further investigated in a form of aggregates to understand their solid-state-induced exciton dynamics in conjunction with their behaviors upon degradation to achieve practical applications of those promising ***,thus far,these QDs have not been sufficiently investigated to obtain deep insights related to the long-term stability of their PL properties as aggregated ***,in this study,we comparatively examined CsPbX_(3)-and CsPb1–xMnxX_(3)-type QDs stocked for>50 d under dark ambient conditions by using excitation wavelength-dependent PL quantum yield and time-resolved PL *** investigations were performed with powder samples in addition to solutions to determine the influence of the inter-QD interaction of the aged QD aggregates on their radiative *** turns out that the Mn^(2+)-substituted QDs exhibited long-lasting PL quantum efficiencies,while the unsubstituted CsPbX_(3)-type QDs exhibited a drastic reduction of their PL *** the obtained PL traces were clearly sensitive to the sample *** is discussed with the possible interaction depending on the size and distance of the QD aggregates.

Three-dimensional(3D)stem cell culture systems have attracted considerable attention as a way to better mimic the complex interactions between individual cells and the extracellular matrix(ECM)that occur in ***,3D cell culture systems have unique properties that help guide specific functions,growth,and processes of stem cells(e.g.,embryogenesis,morphogenesis,and organogenesis).Thus,3D stem cell culture systems that mimic in vivo environments enable basic research about various tissues and *** this review,we focus on the advanced therapeutic applications of stem cell-based 3D culture systems generated using different engineering ***,we summarize the historical advancements of 3D cell culture systems and discuss the therapeutic applications of stem cell-based spheroids and organoids,including engineering techniques for tissue repair and regeneration.

Interaction between tumour cells and macrophages enables cancer cells to evade immune detection and clearance by interfering with macrophage *** anti-phagocytic signals regulated by anti-phagocytic proteins are termed"don't eat me"signals;these signals include sialic acidbinding immunoglobulin-type lectin-10(Siglec-10)and the recently revealed CD24 immune checkpoint(ICP).In this study,we demonstrate that targeting a specific glycan on CD24 exhibits the potential to inhibit *** nigra agglutinin(SNA),a sialic acid-binding lectin,was employed to block CD24 and to enhance phagocytosis in melanoma *** addition,we prepared SNA-conjugated hollow gold-iron oxide nanoparticles for photothermal therapy of *** findings show that the combination treatment of SNA-conjugated photothermal nanoparticles and near-infrared exposure successfully augments tumour cell phagocytosis both in vitro and in vivo models.

The sensing performances of multiple networked Ga N nanowire(NW) sensor codecorated with Au and Pt nanoparticles were examined. The pristine Ga N nanowires show responses of approximately 108%-173% to 0.05%-0.25% H2 at room temperature. On the other hand, the Ga N nanowires decorated with Au and those decorated with Pt lead to 1.1-1.3 and 1.2-1.6 times,respectively, stronger responses to 0.05%-0.25% H2. In contrast, the Au Pt-codecorated Ga N nanowires show 1.3-2.0 times stronger responses to 0.05%-0.25% H2. In other words, the Ga N nanorods codecorated with Au and Pt nanoparticles show much stronger response to H2 gas than the Au or Pt monometal-decorated counterpart. The underlying mechanism for the enhanced response of the Au Pt-codecorated Ga N nanowire was discussed.

In this article, it was suggested a TbFe/Co/Dy trilayered GM （Giant Magnetostrictive） film type actuator and investigated the magnetomechanical characteristics of the actuator for micro application. The trilayered films were fabricated at different thickness ratios to get an optimized structure. TbFe had positive GM properties, and cobalt, dysprosium layers made the magnetostriction property of composite film increase in low magnetic field. To fabricate the Si based microactuator with trilayered film, micromachining processes including RIE （Reactive Ion Etching） and selective DC magnetron sputtering techniques were combined. The deposited film thicknesses were measured by X-ray diffraction （XRD）. As a result, the magnetization of the film on the fabricated actuator was observed to characterize the magnetic properties of the TbFe/Co/Dy film using VSM （Vibrating Sample Magnetometer）. The magnetostriction of the actuator was determined by measuring the differences of curvature of the film coated silicon substrates using the optical cantilever method, and the deflections were also estimated under the external magnetic field lower than 0.5T for micro-system applications.

The influence of aging treatment on the microstructure,mechanical properties and electrical conductivity of Cu-0.5 wt pct Be alloy for connector material applications was *** properties of mechanical strength and electrical conductivity increase with increasing aging temperature and *** of the aged Cu-Be alloy revealed that grain size and fraction of low angle and high angle grain boundary were not greatly changed;however,transmission electron microscopy （TEM） analysis exhibited that beryllides precipitation （CoBe and NiBe） with a size of 50 nm were distributed in *** was,therefore concluded that these beryllide precipitates improved the mechanical strength and also it was favor in improvement of electrical conductivity.

Magnetostrictive Flexible Thin Film Structure for Micro Devices

Polyimide (Kapton, Dupont Corp.) based magnetostrictive thin film structures were designed and fabricated for micro device applications. In particular the growth of films on flexible substrates was studied to allow a simple integration of the system in miniaturized magnetostrictive devices. The films were fabricated on different substrates to compare their different magnetic and structural properties. It showed much more magnetostriction and higher impact resistance results compared with traditional Si based film type actuators. In the fabrication process, amorphous TbDyFe films with thicknesses of 500 nm, 1 μm, 1.5 μm respectively, were deposited on the designed substrate by DC magnetron sputtering. During sputtering process the substrate holder was maintained at room temperature. After the sputter process, X-ray diffraction studies were also carried out to determine the film structure and thickness of the sputtered film. At last, magnetization from VSM (Vibrating Sample Magnetometer) and magnetostriction from optical cantilever method of each structure were measured to estimate the magneto-mechanical characteristics under the external magnetic field lower than 0.7 T for micro-system applications.
