Relationship between Localization of PBSU in Interlamellar/Interfibrillar Regimes and Double Peaks in DSC/SAXS in its Blend with PVDF

In this work,phase segregation and localization of PBSU have been investigated with the combination of SAXS and DSC in its blend with PVDF.After stepwise crystallization of PVDF and PBSU,there are double melting peaks of PBSU in DSC and double scattering peaks in SAXS.It has been demonstrated that double peaks can be attributed to the localization of PBSU in interlamellar/interfibrillar region in pre-formed PVDF crystal framework.In the case of low content of PBSU in blend,PBSU is trapped into the interlamellar region of PVDF crystals,resulting in the alternating lamellae crystal of them and the first peak(with low-q)in SAXS.The enhanced confinement effect produces thinner PBSU lamellae,corresponding to the lower melting temperature in DSC.Upon increasing its content in blend,some PBSU segregates in interfibrillar regions in addition to the enrichment in interlamellar regions of PVDF crystal framework.The larger space and higher concentration of PBSU in interfibrillarregions contribute to periodic lamellae structure of PBSU with higher thickness,which is the reason for the second peak(with high-q)in SAXS and DSC.Our results not only clarify the relationship between localization of PBSU in interlamellar/interfibrillar regions and double peaks in DSC/SAXS,but also provide a novel strategy to detect the interlamellar and interfibrillar segregation of low-T_(m) component in miscible crystalline/crystalline blend.

Investigations on the Interactions between li-TFSI and Glass Fibers in the Ternary PP/GF/li-TFSI Composites

The polypropylene/glass fiber（PP/GF） composites with excellent antistatic performance and improved mechanical properties have been reported by incorporation of a very small amount of the organic salt, lithium bis（trifluoromethanesulfonyl）imide（li-TFSI）, into the PP/GF composites. It was considered that GF could play the role as the pathways for the movements of ions in the ternary composites. In this work, the interactions between li-TFSI and glass fiber and the effects of such interactions on the physical properties of the composites have been systematically investigated. Three types of glass fibers with different ―OH group concentrations have been prepared in order to compare the interactions between GF and li-TFSI. It was found that the ―OH group concentrations on the surface of glass fiber have significant effects on interactions between glass fibers and li-TFSI. Such interactions are crucial for both the antistatic and mechanical performances of the final PP/GF/li-TFSI composites. The investigation indicated that the GF with high ―OH group concentrations confined the movement of TFSI-, which decreased the antistatic properties of PP/GF/li-TFSI composites. On the other hand, the GF with low ―OH group concentrations inhibited the absorption of li-TFSI onto the GF, which also hindered the formation of li-TFSI conductive pathway. The best antistatic performance of the ternary composites can be achieved at the intermediate ―OH concentrations on the GF.

Replicated Banded Spherulite:Microscopic Lamellar-assembly of Poly(L-lactic acid)Crystals in the Poly(oxymethylene)Crystal Framework

The morphologies of poly（L-lactic acid）（PLLA） spherulites, when crystallized within the pre-existed poly（oxymethylene）（POM） crystal frameworks, have been investigated. PLLA/POM blend is a melt-miscible crystalline/crystalline blend system. Owing to the lower melting point but much faster crystallization rate than PLEA, POM crystallized first upon cooling from the melt state and then melted first during the subsequent heating process in this blend system. Lamellar assembly of PLLA crystals within the pre-existed POM spherulitic frameworks was directly observed with the polarized light microscopy by selectively melting the POM frameworks. The investigation indicated that PLLA crystals fully replicated the spherulitic morphology and optical birefringence of the POM crystal frameworks, which was independent of To. On the other hand, POM could also duplicate the pre-existed PLLA morphologies. The result obtained provides us a possibility to design the lamellar assembly and crystal structures of polymer crystals in miscible crystalline/crystalline polymer blends.

Reactive TiO_(2) Nanoparticles Compatibilized PLLA/PBSU Blends:Fully Biodegradable Polymer Composites with Improved Physical,Antibacterial and Degradable Properties

The fully biodegradable polymer blends remain challenges for the application due to their undesirable comprehensive performance.Herei n,remarkable combi nation of superior mechanical performa nee,bacterial resista nee,and con trollable degradability is realized in the biodegradable poly(L-lactide)/poly(butylene succinate)(PLLA/PBSU)blends by stabilizing the epoxide group modified titanium dioxide nan oparticles(m-TiO_(2))at the PLLA-PBSU in terface through reactive blending.The m-TiO_(2) can not only act as in terfacial compatibilizer but also play the role of photodegradation catalyst:on the one hand,binary grafted nanoparticles were in situ formed and stabilized at the interface to enhance the compatibility between polymer phases.As a consequence,the mechanical properties of the blend,such as the elongation at break,notched impact strength and tensile yield strength,were simultaneously improved.On the other hand,antibacterial and photocatalytic degradation performance of the composite films was synergistically improved.It was found that the m-TiO_(2 )incorporated PLLA/PBSU films exhibit more effective antibacterial activity than the neat PLLA/PBSU films.Moreover,the analysis of photodegradable properties revealed that that m-TiO_(2) nan oparticles could act as a photocatalyst to accelerate the photodegradati on rate of polymers.This study paves a new strategy to fabricate advaneed PLLA/PBSU blend materials with excellent mechanical performance,antibacterial and photocatalytic degradation performance,which enables the potential utilization of fully degradable polymers.

Traditional Chinese medicine integrated with chemotherapy for stage Ⅳ non-surgical gastric cancer: a retrospective clinical analysis

OBJECTIVE： Traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） is regarded as an important treatment for gastric cancer patients, especially for those in advanced stage. To evaluate the effects of TCM treatment on gastric cancer patients, the authors performed a retrospective study to report the result of the integrated treatment of TCM with chemotherapy for stage IV non-surgical gastric cancer. METHODS： In this study, 182 patients with stage IV and non-surgical gastric cancer were retrospectively analyzed to evaluate the effects of TCM integrated with chemotherapy. Among the 182 cases, 88 cases received integrated therapy consisting of TCM and chemotherapy, while 94 cases received chemotherapy alone. The overall survival and Karnofsky performance status （KPS） score were measured as the main outcome. RESULTS： The median overall survival of the integrated therapy group and chemotherapy group were 16.9 and 10.5 months, respectively. The 1-, 3- and 5-year survival rates of integrated therapy group vs. chemotherapy group were 70% vs. 32%, 18% vs. 4%, and 11% vs. 0%, respectively. There was a significant difference between the two groups （x2 = 42.244, P 〈 0.001 ）. After six-month treatment, KPS scores of the integrated therapy group and the chemotherapy group were 75.00 ± 14.78 and 60.64 ± 21.39, respectively （P 〈 0.001）. The Cox regression analysis showed that TCM treatment is a protective factor for patients＇ overall survival. CONCLUSION： This study demonstrated that TCM integrated with chemotherapy may prolong overal survival and improve survival rate and life quality of patients with stage IV non-surgical gastric cancer

Reaction characteristics of carbon-bearing pellets of Bayan Obo lean iron ores in a static magnetic field

The use of low-grade,refractory and composite paragenetic mineral resources is necessary for overcoming the shortage of iron ore resources in China.As a solution to the treatment of such iron ores,the direct reduction of carbon-bearing pellets can ensure complete iron removal and the effective enrichment of other high-value elements.Thus,this technology enjoys a broad application prospect.However,there are several problems with low-temperature reduction,such as low iron ore reaction efficiency,long reaction time,and high energy consumption.To improve the low-temperature carbothermic reduction efficiency of iron ores,a static magnetic field with magnetic induction intensity of 1.0 T was introduced.An isothermal reduction experiment was conducted at 1223 K to study the low-temperature self-reduction characteristics of carbon-bearing pellets of Bayan Obo lean iron ores in the static magnetic field.Also,the acting mechanism of the magnetic field was explored from the perspective of the reduction process,reaction efficiency,phase composition,microstructure changes,and dynamic behavior of iron ores.The results showed that the magnetic field can increase the low-temperature reduction rate of carbon-bearing pellets of Bayan Obo lean iron ores.Under the conditions of reduction temperature of 1223 K,magnetic induction intensity of 1.0 T,and reduction time of 60 min,the reduction degree was 92.42%,1.65 times that without a magnetic field.The magnetic field promoted the replacement of Ca^(2+)and Fe^(2+),so that the hard-to-reduce iron-bearing silicates were reduced in the order of Fe2SiO_(4)→(Ca,Na)FeSiO_(4)→FeO→Fe.The magnetic field enabled loose minerals,more pores and cracks,and changes in the growth morphology and distribution position of metallic iron.Compared with the case under the non-magnetic condition,the metallic iron precipitated from the slag phase in a foliated shape,separated from the matrix iron oxides,and grew up at the junction of the slag phase and coke.The magnetic field significantly increased the interf

Associations between the use of red yeast rice preparations and adverse health outcomes:An umbrella review of meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials

Background:Red yeast rice(RYR),a natural lipid-lowering agent,is widely used in clinical practice.However,the existing meta-analyses concerning the safety of RYR preparations have yielded inconsistent results,and the credibility of the evidence has not been quantified.Objective:This study was designed to evaluate the existing evidence and offer a comprehensive understanding of the associations between the use of RYR preparations and various adverse health outcomes.Search strategy:Seven literature databases were searched from inception to May 5,2023,using medical subject headings and free-text terms(e.g.,“red yeast rice,”“Xuezhikang,”and“Zhibitai”).Inclusion criteria:Meta-analyses that investigated and quantitatively estimated associations between the use of RYR preparations and adverse health outcomes were included in this study.Data extraction and analysis:Two researchers independently extracted data using a standardized data collection table;any disagreements were resolved by consulting a third researcher.Based on the participant,intervention,comparator and outcome(PICO)framework in each eligible meta-analysis,a series of unique associations between the use of RYR preparations and adverse health outcomes were determined.The associations’effect estimates were re-evaluated using random-effect models.Results:Fifteen meta-analyses,comprising 186(164 unique)randomized controlled trials,were identified.Based on A Mea Surement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews version 2,3(20%)and 12(80%)of these meta-analyses had low and critically low confidence,respectively.A total of 61 unique associations between the use of RYR preparations and adverse health outcomes were extracted from eligible metaanalyses.Based on the random-effect models,10(16.4%)associations indicated a significant protective effect of RYR preparations against adverse health outcomes,while 5(8.2%)indicated an increased risk of adverse health outcomes related to uric acid,alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase levels.The other 46(75.4%)associations s

Privacy-Preserving Federated Mobility Prediction with Compound Data and Model Perturbation Mechanism

Human mobility prediction is important for many applications.However,training an accurate mobility prediction model requires a large scale of human trajectories,where privacy issues become an important problem.The rising federated learning provides us with a promising solution to this problem,which enables mobile devices to collaboratively learn a shared prediction model while keeping all the training data on the device,decoupling the ability to do machine learning from the need to store the data in the cloud.However,existing federated learningbased methods either do not provide privacy guarantees or have vulnerability in terms of privacy leakage.In this paper,we combine the techniques of data perturbation and model perturbation mechanisms and propose a privacy-preserving mobility prediction algorithm,where we add noise to the transmitted model and the raw data collaboratively to protect user privacy and keep the mobility prediction performance.Extensive experimental results show that our proposed method significantly outperforms the existing stateof-the-art mobility prediction method in terms of defensive performance against practical attacks while having comparable mobility prediction performance,demonstrating its effectiveness.

Engineering g-C_(3)N_(4)based materials for advanced photocatalysis:Recent advances

Photocatalysis driven by abundant yet intermittent solar energy has considerable potential in renewable energy generation and environmental remediation.The outstanding electronic structure and physicochemical properties of graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4)),together with unique metal-free characteristic,make them ideal candidates for advanced photocatalysts construction.This review summarizes the up-to-date advances on g-C_(3)N_(4)based photocatalysts from ingenious-design strategies and diversified photocatalytic applications.Notably,the advantages,fabrication methods and limitations of each design strategy are systemically analyzed.In order to deeply comprehend the inner connection of theory–structure–performance upon g-C_(3)N_(4)based photocatalysts,structure/composition designs,corresponding photocatalytic activities and reaction mechanisms are jointly discussed,associated with introducing their photocatalytic applications toward water splitting,carbon dioxide/nitrogen reduction and pollutants degradation,etc.Finally,the current challenges and future perspectives for g-C_(3)N_(4)based materials for photocatalysis are briefly proposed.These design strategies and limitations are also instructive for constructing g-C_(3)N_(4) based materials in other energy and environment-related applications.
