Molecular dynamics simulation is performed to simulate the tension–compression fatigue of notched metallic glasses(MGs),and the notch effect of MGs is *** notches will accelerate the accumulation of shear transition zones,leading to faster shear banding around the notches’root causing it to undergo severe plastic ***,a qualitative investigation of the notched MGs demonstrates that fatigue life gradually becomes shorter with the increase in sharpness until it reaches a critical *** fatigue performance of blunt notches is stronger than that of sharp *** the notches blunter can improve the fatigue life of MGs.

Carbon nanotube film(CNTF)can be used for photocatalysis and water treatment due to its porous structure,good stability and excellent electrical *** this work,TiO_(2)/amorphous carbon/carbon nanotube film(TCC)composite with uniform structure was prepared by a simple atomization spraying *** B(RhB)was used to test the photocatalytic activity of *** composite exhibits good photocatalytic activity under ultraviolet *** particular,the degradation efficiency of rhodamine B(RhB)by TCC sprayed with 9 layers of TiO_(2)(9 TCC)increased by 1.45 times than of TiO_(2) under ultraviolet *** enhanced photocatalytic activity of TCC is attributed to the CNTF,which can broaden the light response range of TCC and improve the migration efficiency of *** existence of amorphous carbon will promote these ***,the better hydrophilic properties would enhance the catalytic performance happened on the solid-liquid ***,the photocatalytic mechanism and degradation intermediates of the TCC composite were proposed.

Parkinson’s disease(PD)is the second most common neurodegenerative disease worldwide,and its treatment remains a big *** pathogenesis of PD may be related to environmental and genetic factors,and exposure to toxins and gene mutations may be the beginning of brain *** identified mechanisms of PD includeα-synuclein aggregation,oxidative stress,ferroptosis,mitochondrial dysfunction,neuroinflammation,and gut *** interactions among these molecular mechanisms complicate the pathogenesis of PD and pose great challenges to drug *** the same time,the diagnosis and detection of PD are also one of obstacles to the treatment of PD due to its long latency and complex *** conventional therapeutic interventions for PD possess limited effects and have serious side effects,heightening the need to develop novel treatments for this *** this review,we systematically summarized the pathogenesis,especially the molecular mechanisms of PD,the classical research models,clinical diagnostic criteria,and the reported drug therapy strategies,as well as the newly reported drug candidates in clinical *** also shed light on the components derived from medicinal plants that are newly identified for their effects in PD treatment,with the expectation to provide the summary and outlook for developing the next generation of drugs and preparations for PD therapy.

By using the advanced instrumentation of a Computer Controlled Scanning Electron Microscope （CCSEM）, X-ray diffraction （XRD） and X-ray fluorescence （XRF）, the ash composition and the mineral components of six typical Huainan coals of different origins were studied. The transformation of mineral matter at high temperatures was tracked by XRD in reducing conditions. The quartz phase decreased sharply and the anorthite content tended to increase at first and then decreased with increasing temperatures. The formed mullite phase reached a maximum at 1250 ℃ but showed a tendency of slow decline when the temperature was over 1250 ℃. The mullite formed in the heating process was the main reason of the high ash melting temperature of Huainan coals. Differences in peak intensity of mullite and anorthite reflected differences in phase concentration of the quenched slag fractions, which contributed to the differences in ash melting temperatures. The differences in the location of an mnorphous hump maximum indicated differences of glass types which may affect ash melting temperatures. For Huainan coal samples with relatively high ash melting tempera- tures, the intensity of the diffraction lines for mullite under reducing condition is high while for the samples with relatively low ash melting temperature the intensity for anorthite is high.

Objective:To determine whether salvianolic acid B(Sal B)exerts protective effects on diabetic peripheral neuropathy by attenuating apoptosis and ***:RSC96 cells were primarily cultured with DMEM(5.6 mmol/L glucose),hyperglycemia(HG,125 mmol/L glucose)and Sal B(0.1,1,and 10μmol/L).Cells proliferation was measured by 3-(4,5-cimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-dilphenyltetrazolium bromide *** oxygen species(ROS)generation and apoptosis rate were detected by flow cytometry *** blot was performed to analyze the expressions of poly ADP-ribose polymerase(PARR),cleaved-caspase 3,cleavedcaspase 9,Bcl-2,Bax,NLRP3,ASC,and interleukin(IL)-1β.Results:Treatment with HG at a concentration of125 mmol/L attenuated cellular proliferation,while Sal B alleviated this injury(P<0.05).In addition,Sal B inhibited HG-induced ROS production and apoptosis rate(P<0.05).Furthermore,treatment with Sal B down-regulated HG-induced PARP,cleaved-caspase 3,cleaved-caspase 9,Bax,NLRP3,ASC,and IL-1βexpression,but mitigated HG-mediated down-regulation of Bcl-2 expression(P<0.05).Conclusion:Sal B may protect RSC96 cells against HG-induced cellular injury via the inhibition of apoptosis and pyroptosis activated by ROS.

Development of a novel score for the diagnosis of bacterial infection in patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure

BACKGROUND The diagnosis of bacterial infection is difficult in patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF).AIM To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of widely used parameters for bacterial infection in ACLF and to develop a simple scoring system to improve diagnostic *** This was a retrospective ***(PCT),white blood cells(WBC),proportion of neutrophils(N%),and C-reactive protein(CRP)were *** regression was used to select variables for the scoring models and receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)analysis was used to evaluate the diagnostic value of different *** This study included 386 patients with ACLF,169(43.78%)of whom had bacterial infection on *** area under the ROC(AUROC)of PCT,CRP,WBC and N%for the diagnosis of bacterial infection ranged from 0.637 to 0.692,with no significant difference between *** regression showed that only N%,PCT,and CRP could independently predict infection.A novel scoring system(infection score)comprised of N%,PCT and CRP was *** AUROC of the infection score was 0.740,which was significantly higher than that for the other four indices(infection score vs N%,PCT,CRP,and WBC,P=0.0056,0.0001,0.0483 and 0.0008,respectively).The best cutoff point for the infection score was 4 points,with a sensitivity of 78.05%,a specificity of 55.29%,a positive predictive value of 57.91%and a negative predictive value of 76.16%.CONCLUSION The infection score is a simple and useful tool for discriminating bacterial infection in ACLF.
