Back-streaming neutrons from the spallation target of the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)that emit through the incoming proton channel were exploited to build a white neutron beam facility(the so-called Back-n white neutron source),which was completed in March *** Back-n neutron beam is very intense,at approximately 29107 n/cm2/s at 55 m from the target,and has a nominal proton beam with a power of 100 kW in the CSNS-I phase and a kinetic energy of 1.6 GeV and a thick tungsten target in multiple slices with modest moderation from the cooling water through the *** addition,the excellent energy spectrum spanning from 0.5 eV to 200 MeV,and a good time resolution related tothe time-of-flight measurements make it a typical white neutron source for nuclear data measurements;its overall performance is among that of the best white neutron sources in the *** with advanced spectrometers,detectors,and application utilities,the Back-n facility can serve wide applications,with a focus on neutron-induced cross-sectional *** article presents an overview of the neutron beam characteristics,the experimental setups,and the ongoing applications at Backn.

Summary:Dexmedetomidine(DEX),a potent and highly selective agonist for a2-adrenergic receptors(a2AR),exerts neuroprotective effects by reducing apoptosis through decreased neuronal Ca^2+***,the exact action mechanism of DEX and its effects on oxygen-glucose deprivation-reoxygenation(OGD/R)injury in vitro are *** demonstrate that DEX pretreatment reduced OGD/R injury in PC12 cells,as evidenced by decreased oxidative stress,autophagy,and neuronal ***,DEX pretreatment decreased the expression levels of stromal interaction molecule 1(STIM1)and calcium release-activated calcium channel protein 1(Orail),and reduced the concentration of intracellular calcium *** addition,variations in cytosolic calcium concentration altered apoptosis rate of PC12 cells after exposure to hypoxic conditions,which were modulated through STIM 1/Orail ***,DEX pretreatment decreased the expression levels of Beclin-1 and microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3(LC3),hallmark markers of autophagy,and the formation of *** conclusion,these results suggested that DEX exerts neuroprotective effects against oxidative stress,autophagy,and neuronal apoptosis afier OGD/R injury via modulation of Caf-STIM1/Orai1 *** results offer insights into the molecular mechanisms of DEX in protecting against neuronal ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Background Primary vesicoureteral reflux(VUR)is a common congenital anomaly of the kidney and urinary tract(CAKUT)in *** present study identified the possible genetic contributions to primary VUR in *** Patients with primary VUR were enrolled and analysed based on a national multi-center registration network(Chinese Children Genetic Kidney Disease Database,CCGKDD)that covered 23 different provinces/regions in China from 2014 to *** causes were sought using whole-exome sequencing(WES)or targeted-exome *** A total of 379 unrelated patients(male:female 219:160)with primary VUR were ***-four(16.9%)children had extrarenal manifestations,and 165(43.5%)patients showed the coexistence of other CAKUT ***-eight patient(23.2%)exhibited impaired renal function at their last visit,and 18 of them(20.5%)developed ESRD at the median age of 7.0(IQR 0.9–11.4)years.A monogenic cause was identified in 28 patients(7.39%).These genes included PAX2(n=4),TNXB(n=3),GATA3(n=3),SLIT2(n=3),RObo2(n=2),TBX18(n=2),and the other 11 genes(one gene for each patient).There was a significant difference in the rate of gene mutations between patients with or without extrarenal complications(14.1%vs.6%,P=0.035).The frequency of genetic abnormality was not statistically significant based on the coexistence of another CAKUT(9.6%vs.5.6%,P=0.139,Chi-square test)and the grade of reflux(9.4%vs.6.7%,P=0.429).Kaplan–Meier survival curve showed that the presence of genetic mutations did affect renal survival(Log-rank test,P=0.01).PAX2 mutation carriers(HR 5.1,95%CI 1.3–20.0;P=0.02)and TNXB mutation carriers(HR 20.3,95%CI 2.4–168.7;P=0.01)were associated with increased risk of progression to *** PAX2,TNXB,GATA3 and SLIT2 were the main underlying monogenic causes and accounted for up to 46.4%of monogenic *** complications and renal function were significantly related to the findings of genetic factors in children with p

Neutrinos from core-collapse supernovae are essential for understanding neutrino physics and stellar ***-phase xenon dark matter detectors can be used to track explosions of galactic supernovae by detecting neutrinos through coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus *** this study,a variation of progenitor masses and explosion models are assumed to predict neutrino fluxes and spectra,which result in the number of expected neutrino events ranging from 6.6 to 13.7 at a distance of 10 kpc over a 10-s duration with negligible backgrounds at *** specialized triggering alarms for monitoring supernova burst neutrinos are *** efficiency of detecting supernova explosions at various distances in the Milky Way is *** alarms will be implemented in the real-time supernova monitoring system at PandaX-4T in the near future,which will provide supernova early warnings for the astronomical community.

Background Recent studies have identified signal transducer and activator of transcription 4 （STAT4） as a susceptibility gene for systemic lupus erythematosus （SLE） in different populations. In order to examine whether the allele distribution of the single nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） in gene STAT4 rs7574865 in patients with SLE is different from those of healthy controls in Chinese Northern Han population, we investigated whether the variants of STAT4 rs7574865 were associated with any specific clinical features of SLE. Methods We genotyped SNPs in STAT4 rs7574865 in 252 patients with SLE and 497 healthy controls. All subjects were from the Northern part of Chinese Han population. The genotypes in rs7574865 were determined by polymerase chain reaction （PCR） and consequence direct sequencing of PCR products in the DNA samples. Results There was a significant difference in distribution of the SNPs in rs7574865 between the SLE patients and healthy controls. Compared with healthy controls, there was a significant correlation between TT genotypes in rs7574865 and the risk of SLE when GG genotype was used as a reference genotype after adjusting for gender and age. The frequency of T allele in the SLE patients was strongly significantly higher than that of healthy controls. Furthermore, there was a significant difference in the distribution of SNP in rs7574865 between male and female SLE patients, when compared with healthy controls. The frequency of T allele in rs7574865 in male patients was significantly higher than that of male healthy controls or female patients. There was no significant correlation between the frequencies of T allele in STAT4 rs7574865 and the clinical features of SLE. Conclusions The SNP rs7574865 in STAT4 is strongly associated with risk of SLE in the Chinese Northern Hart population. The TT genotype and T allele in STAT4 rs7574869 are susceptibility factors for SLE, especially for male SLE patients.

This paper describes the data release of the LAMOST pilot survey, which includes data reduction, calibration, spectral analysis, data products and data access. The accuracy of the released data and the information about the FITS headers of spectra are also introduced. The released data set includes 319 000 spectra and a catalog of these objects.

The Large sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope（LAMOST） general survey is a spectroscopic survey that will eventually cover approximately half of the celestial sphere and collect 10 million spectra of stars, galaxies and QSOs. Objects in both the pilot survey and the first year regular survey are included in the LAMOST DR1. The pilot survey started in October 2011 and ended in June 2012, and the data have been released to the public as the LAMOST Pilot Data Release in August 2012. The regular survey started in September 2012, and completed its first year of operation in June 2013. The LAMOST DR1 includes a total of 1202 plates containing 2 955 336 spectra, of which 1 790 879 spectra have observed signalto-noise ratio（SNR） ≥ 10. All data with SNR ≥ 2 are formally released as LAMOST DR1 under the LAMOST data policy. This data release contains a total of 2 204 696 spectra, of which 1 944 329 are stellar spectra, 12 082 are galaxy spectra and 5017 are quasars. The DR1 not only includes spectra, but also three stellar catalogs with measured parameters： late A,FGK-type stars with high quality spectra（1 061 918 entries）, A-type stars（100 073 entries）, and M-type stars（121 522 entries）. This paper introduces the survey design, the observational and instrumental limitations, data reduction and analysis, and some caveats. A description of the FITS structure of spectral files and parameter catalogs is also provided.
