Bioresponsive hydrogels are smart materials that respond to various external stimuli and exhibit great potential as biosensors owing to their capability of real-time and label-free ***,we propose a sensing platform based on bioresponsive hydrogels,employing the concept of moiré *** sets of line patterns with different pitch sizes are prepared;a hydrogel grating whose pitch size changes according to external stimuli and a reference grating with constant pitch *** volume changes of the hydrogel caused by external stimuli changes the pitch size of the hydrogel grating,and subsequently,the pitch sizes of the moiré patterns(moiré signal),whose values can be obtained in a real-time and label-free manner through customized moiré microscopy and signal *** confirming that the pH-induced swelling of hydrogel could be monitored using moiré patterns,we performed moiré pattern-based detection of specific proteins using protein-responsive hydrogel that underwent shrinking via interaction with target ***-derived neurotrophic factor and platelet-derived growth factor were selected as the model proteins,and our proposed system successfully detected both proteins at nanomolar *** both cases,the pitch size change of hydrogel grating was monitored much more sensitively using moiré patterns than through direct *** changes in the moiré signals caused by target proteins were detected in ex-vivo environments using a custom-made intraocular lens incorporating the hydrogel grating,demonstrating the capability of the proposed system to detect various markers in intraocular aqueous humor,when implanted in the eye.

Background:Insomnia is a prevalent clinical condition and Shangxia Liangji formula(SXLJF)is a well-established method of ***,the specific mechanism of action of SXLJF remains ***:The mouse model of insomnia was established by intraperitoneal injection of ***-two mice were randomly divided into a negative control group,model group,SXLJF group(18.72 g/kg/day),and positive control group(diazepam,2 mg/kg)and treated with the corresponding drugs for 7 consecutive *** open field test and pentobarbital-induced sleeping test were ***-MS-based untargeted metabolomics and network pharmacology were applied to explore the potential targets of SXLJF for treating ***,key targets were validated using ***:Behavioral tests demonstrated that SXLJF reduced the total distance,average velocity,central distance,and sleep latency,and prolonged sleep *** and network pharmacology revealed potential targets,signaling pathways,metabolic pathways,and metabolites associated with the anti-insomnia effects of ***,tyrosine hydroxylase(TH)and tyrosine metabolism emerged as crucial metabolic pathways and targets,***-qPCR results supported the role of TH in the mechanism of SXLJF in treating ***:In conclusion,TH and tyrosine metabolism may represent significant targets and pathways for SXLJF in treating insomnia.

Analytic derivation of Monin-Obukhov similarity function for open atmospheric surface layer

The Monin-Obukhov(MO)similarity functionφm of the atmospheric surface layer(ASL)describing the deviation from the log law of the canonical turbulent boundary layer because of thermal stratification has been traditionally determined *** study presents a unified analytic expression derived from a symmetry-based theory of wall turbulence,called structural ensemble dynamics(SED),which postulates a generalized dilation symmetry principle expressing the effect of the wall on turbulence,leading to an analytic multi-regimes expression for the mixing *** ASL in unstable and stable conditions(i.e.,UC and SC),a unified two-regime formula of the mixing length is proposed,leading to aφm,similar to the Businger-Dyer(BD)formula;with a simplified model energy balance equation,φm is completely specified with no free ***,the theory allows the study of the open ASL’s underlying additional physical processes such as bottom-up or top-down flux due to pressure variations *** that Tp is decomposed into shear-like and buoyancy-like components,we propose new explanations for two important features of typical ASL:a significantly smaller Karman constant of 0.36 and a varyingφm for SC mean speed *** theory is validated by the data obtained at Kansas and also at Qingtu Lake Observation Array in Northern China for a variety of heat flux *** conclusion,due to pressure variations,we assert that ASL is intrinsically open and that the current theory offers a new basis for its quantification.

Characteristics of machined surface controlled by cutting tools and conditions in machining of brittle material

One of the ultra-precision machining methods was adapted for brittle material as well as soft material by using multi-arrayed diamond tips and high speed spindle. Conventional machining method is too hard to control surface roughness and surface texture against brittle material because the particles of grinding tools are irregular size and material can be fragile. Therefore, we were able to design tool paths and machine controlled pattern on surface by multi-arrayed diamond tips with uniform size made in MEMS fabrication and high speed spindle, and the maximum speed was about 3×105 r/min. We defined several parameters that can affect the machining surface. Those were multi-array of diamond tips (n×n), speed of air spindle and feeding rate. The surface roughness and surface texture can be controlled by those parameters for micro machining.

Feasibility Study of R134a/R404a Cascade Heat Pump Cycle in Heat Pump Dryers with Electrical Heaters at Low Temperatures

Heat pump cycles have been widely applied to dryers for their high efficiency. However, low–efficiency electrical heaters are often used during early drying stage for frozen foods or winter since a standard heat pump cycle cannot operate at low temperature. This study introduced cascade heat pumps replacing electrical heaters to improve dryer performance at low temperatures. Experiments were performed to examine changes in performance of the cascade heat pump dryers in relation to ambient temperature, low-stage cycle mass flow rate, and high-stage cycle mass flow rate. The results showed a significant improvement in low-temperature dryer performance with the introduction of cascade heat pump cycles.

脑血管病急性期血尿酸/血肌酐比值与脑血管事件复发及死亡的关系:一项前瞻性队列研究

背景脑卒中在世界各地有较高的死亡率和复发率。血尿酸(SUA)是嘌呤代谢的产物,已被认为是心脑血管病的危险因素。血尿酸/血肌酐比值(SUA/Scr)是代表肾功能标准化的SUA,目前有关SUA/Scr在急性脑血管病中的作用仍有争议。目的探讨脑血管病急性期SUA/Scr与脑血管事件复发和死亡的关系。方法本研究为前瞻性队列研究,选取2006年9月—2019年9月天津市环湖医院连续收治的首次发生脑血管事件的13313例患者为研究队列,并对患者进行随访,随访截至2020年9月。随访方式为门诊及电话相结合。随访主要终点事件为全因死亡,次要终点事件为脑血管事件复发、心血管事件复发、其他血管事件发生(如下肢动静脉栓塞)。采用Cox比例风险回归模型探究SUA/Scr与脑血管事件复发与死亡的关系。结果根据脑血管病急性期SUA/Scr四分位数,将患者分为Q1组(SUA/Scr≤3.16,n=3520)、Q2组(3.164.92,n=3243)。截至随访结束,774例(5.8%)患者死亡,2064例(15.5%)患者复发脑血管事件。脑血管病急性期SUA/Scr位于Q1~Q4的患者中,男性复发脑血管病的例数依次为302、375、408、337例,女性依次为99、125、169、249例;男性复发脑梗死的例数依次为261、314、345、283例,女性依次为90、101、142、205例;男性复发大动脉粥样硬化型脑梗死的例数依次为154、191、214、183例,女性依次为58、52、45、31例;男性全因死亡的例数依次为165、128、131、88例,女性依次为57、63、62、80例;男性因脑梗死死亡的例数依次为93、72、70、46例,女性依次为31、33、36、44例;男性因大动脉粥样硬化型脑梗死死亡的例数依次为58、52、45、31例,女性依次为17、18、27、24例。调整多项混杂因素后,SUA/Scr位于Q4相较于Q1是男性急性脑梗死复发的影响因素(HR=0.690,95%CI=0.500~0.953,P=0.026);SUA/Scr位于Q4相较于Q1是男性脑梗死亚组患者大动脉粥样硬化型脑梗死复发的影响因素(HR=0.740,95%CI=0.578~0.947,P=0.017)。SUA/Scr位于Q4相较于Q1是男性全因死亡、因脑梗死死亡的影响因素(HR=0.575,95%CI=0.368~0.901,P=0.003;HR=0.610,95%CI=0.353~0.814,P=0.011)。SUA/Scr位于Q3、Q4相较于Q1是男性出院后死亡的影响因素(HR=0.656,95%CI=0.476~0.904,P=0.010;HR=0.582,95%CI=0.409~0.829,P=0.001)。SUA/Scr位于Q4相较于Q1是男性脑梗死亚组患者因大动脉粥样硬化型脑梗死死亡的影响因素(HR=0.580,95%CI=0.386~0.873,P=0.007)。结论一定范围内,脑血管病急性期SUA/Scr升高对男性患者脑血管事件复发及死亡有一定的保护作用,低SUA/Scr与男性大动脉粥样硬化型脑梗死的死亡和复发风险升高有关,但与小动脉闭塞型脑梗死和心源性卒中复发和死亡无关。在女性患者中没有观察到SUA/Scr与脑血管事件复发及死亡的关系。

A survey of arsenic and other heavy metals in vegetation from markets or mine tailings

This research includes two investigations. The first one is a market basket survey of the levels of arsenic （As） and trace elements in bracken fern （Pteridium aquilinum） originated from three countries： South Korea, China and North Korea. The results showed that the mean As concentrations in stems of samples were significantly higher than those in leaves. As concentrations in all samples did not exceed food safety limits for vegetables. Generally, concentrations of Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn in leaves were higher than those in stems. The second investigation is a survey on the levels of As and other heavy metals in vegetation in the vicinity of Myoungbong mine tailings. The results demonstrated that As, Pb and Cu concentrations and bioaccumulation factors （BCF） in seedlings of the fern（A splenium achilleifolium） were the highest, whereas Marsh horsetail（Equisetum polustre） accumulated the highest levels of Zn. Concentrations of As, Pb, Zn and Cu in vegetable-cress （Lepidium sativum） and the edible herb-aromatic madder （Elasholtzia splendens） were higher than food safety limits. Therefore, a risk assessment of As and other heavy metals in vegetables and herbs on local human health should be conducted in the future.

Folfirinox chemotherapy prolongs stent patency in patients with malignant biliary obstruction due to unresectable pancreatic cancer

Background:Stent insertion for biliary decompression to relieve jaundice and subsequent biliary infection is necessary for patients with biliary obstruction caused by pancreatic cancer,and it is important to keep the stent patent as long as ***,few studies have compared stent patency in terms of chemotherapy in patients with pancreatic *** study aimed to evaluate the differences in stent patency in terms of recently evolving ***:Between January 2015 and May 2017,161 patients with pancreatic cancer who had undergone biliary stent insertion with a metal stent were retrospectively *** relationship between chemotherapy and stent patency was ***,overall survival according to the treatment,risk factors for stent patency,and long-term adverse events were ***:Median stent patency was 42 days for patients with the best supportive care and 217 days for patients with chemotherapy(conventional gemcitabine-based chemotherapy and folfirinox)(P<0.001).Furthermore,the folfirinox group showed the longest median stent patency and overall survival,with 283 days and 466 days,respectively(P<0.001)despite higher adverse events *** who underwent folfirinox chemotherapy after stent insertion had better stent patency in multivariate analysis(HR=0.26;95%CI:0.12–0.60;P=0.001).Conclusions:Compared with patients who received best supportive care only,patients who underwent chemotherapy after stent insertion had better stent *** prolonged stent patency can be expected for patients with folfirinox than conventional gemcitabine-based chemotherapy.

Effects of UV intensity and water turbidity on microbial indicator Inactivation

The effects of UV intensity and turbidity on selected microbial indicator inactivation were investigated. Results showed that UV disinfection was effective in killing all the selected microbial indicators, the resistance order of the microorganisms was as follows： MS-2 coliphage 〉 Bacillus subtilis 〉 E. coil 〉 Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. UV intensity had influence on the inactivation of all the microorganisms, high UV disinfection efficency was obtained with higher UV intensity. Turbidity had impact on the bacteria inactivation rate, but there was no evidence that turbidity had any negative contribution to MS-2 coliphage. Under the same UV dosage, higher UV intensity could overcome the negative influence of turbidity on UV performance, enhanced microorganism inactivation effect in turbidity water.
