Impact statement Gut microbiota-derived trimethylamine(TMA)is associated with cardiometabolic disorders and exemplifies a microbial involvement in the etiology of emerging,noncommunicable diseases,the leading causes of death *** bio-chemical pathways taking dietary compounds as intake have been described with distinct taxa involved that are all present at low relative abundances.A recently discovered pathway is now considered to be the main route for TMA synthesis from L-carnitine involvingγ-butyrobetaine as an intermediate *** comprehensive(meta)genomic screening of publicly available data,namely,genomes of the UHGG catalog(n>200,000)and 10 metagenomic(transcriptomic)data sets,we revealed bacteria synthesizing TMA via this pathway and specified their *** will contribute to stratification of individuals based on their gut microbiota's potential to synthesize TMA and might aid in the development of strategies restricting TMA formation.

Endoscopic fluorescent lymphography for gastric cancer

Lymphography by radioisotope or dye is a well-known technique for visualizing the lymphatic drainage pattern in a neoplastic lesion and it is in use in gastric *** green(ICG)more recently has been validated in fluorescent lymphography studies and is under evaluation as a novel tracer agent in gastric *** amount and dilution of ICG injected as well as the site and the time of the injection are not *** our unit,endoscopic submucosal injections of ICG are made as 0.5 mg in 0.5 mL at four peritumoral sites the day before surgery(for a total of 2.0 mg in 2.0 mL).Detection instruments for ICG fluorescence are ***-infrared systems integrated into laparoscopic or robotic instruments(near-infrared fluorescence imaging)have shown the most promising *** fluorescence recognizes the node that receives lymphatic flow directly from a primary *** is defined as the sentinel lymph node,and it has a high predictive negative value at the cT1 stage,able to reduce the extent of gastrectomy and lymph node *** also enhances the number of lymph nodes detected during extended lymphadenectomy for advanced gastric ***,the practical effects of ICG use in a single patient are not yet *** of the technique and further studies are needed before fluorescent lymphography can be used extensively *** then,current guidelines recommend an extensive lymphadenectomy as the standard approach for gastric cancer with suspected metastasis.

Design and Evaluation of sIMpliLife, an NFC Platform to Ease Day-to-Day Actions of People＇s Life

In this paper the authors describe the design, prototyping and evaluation of sIMpliLife, a framework for mobile phones with the aim of making people’s life easier, providing day-to-day services such as payment, ticketing and information retrieval by means of NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. It was developed via the collaboration between two research labs of sapienza University of Rome: the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Lab and the Usability and Accessibility Lab (LUA), both belonging to CATTID (Centre for Applications of Teleservices and of Technologies for Innovation in Digital world) research centre. Technically, sIMpliLife is a sIM-based platform for NFC mobile phones that interfaces several applications able to manage the abovementioned services. The high-level User Interface has been developed by means of smart Card Web server (sCWs) technology, thus providing enhanced user experience if compared to traditional sIM-based implementations based on sIM Toolkit.
