AIM:To reveal the clinicopathological features and risk factors for lymph node metastases in gastric cardiac adenocarcinoma of male ***:We retrospective reviewed a total of 146male and female patients with gastric cardiac adenocarcinoma who had undergone curative gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy in the Department of Surgery,Xin Hua Hospital and Rui Jin Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University Medical School between November2001 and May *** the surgical procedure and extent of lymph node dissection were based on the recommendations of Japanese gastric cancer treatment *** and multivariate analyses of lymph node metastases and the clinicopathological features were ***:The rate of lymph node metastases in male patients with gastric cardiac adenocarcinoma was72.1%.Univariate analysis showed an obvious correlation between lymph node metastases and tumor size,gross appearance,differentiation,pathological tumor depth,and lymphatic invasion in male *** logistic regression analysis revealed that tumor differentiation and pathological tumor depth were the independent risk factors for lymph node metastases in male *** was an obvious relationship between lymph node metastases and tumor size,gross appearance,differentiation,pathological tumor depth,lymphatic invasion at pN1and pN2,and nerve invasion at pN3in male *** were no significant differences in clinicopathological features or lymph node metastases between female and male ***:Tumor differentiation and tumor depth were risk factors for lymph node metastases in male patients with gastric cardiac adenocarcinoma and should be considered when choosing surgery.

Auxin is an important phytohormone in plants, and auxin signaling pathways in rice play key roles in regulating its growth, development, and productivity. To investigate how rice grain yield traits are regulated by auxin signaling pathways and to facilitate their application in rice improvement, we validated the functional relationships among regulatory genes such as OsIAA10, OsSK41, and OsARF21 that are involved in one of the auxin(OsIAA10) signaling pathways. We assessed the phenotypic effects of these genes on several grain yield traits across two environments using knockout and/or overexpression transgenic *** on the results, we constructed a model that showed how grain yield traits were regulated by OsIAA10 and OsTIR1, OsAFB2, and OsSK41 and OsmiR393 in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module and by OsARF21 in the transcriptional regulation of downstream auxin response genes in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module. The population genomic analyses revealed rich genetic diversity and the presence of major functional alleles at most of these loci in rice populations. The strong differentiation of many major alleles between Xian/indica and Geng/japonica subspecies and/or among modern varieties and landraces suggested that they contributed to improved productivity during evolution and breeding. We identified several important aspects associated with the genetic and molecular bases of rice grain and yield traits that were regulated by auxin signaling *** also suggested rice auxin response factor(OsARF) activators as candidate target genes for improving specific target traits by overexpression and/or editing subspecies-specific alleles and by searching and pyramiding the ‘best' gene allelic combinations at multiple regulatory genes in auxin signaling pathways in rice breeding programs.

Since self-assembled peptide hydrogels can solve the problems such as low solubility, poor selectivity and serious adverse effects of traditional chemotherapy drugs, they have been widely used as carrier materials for drug delivery. In this study, we developed a novel and injectable drug delivery platform for the antitumor drug doxorubicin(DOX) using a p H-responsive ionic-complementary octapeptide *** octapeptide could self-assemble into stable hydrogel under neutral conditions, while disassemble under the tumor microenvironment. Especially, at p H 5.8, its micromorphology displayed a transition from nanofibers to nanospheres with the change of secondary structure, which enhanced cellular uptake of DOX. In addition, FOE hydrogel serves as a smart drug reservoir by localized injection to achieve sustained drug release and improve antitumor efficacy. This octapeptide opens up new avenues for promoting the clinical translation of anticancer drugs on account of excellent injectable properties and economic benefits of simple and short sequence.

A systematic theoretical investigation has been studied on Fujiwara-Moritani reaction between 3-methoxyacetanilide with n-butyl acrylate by means of density functional theory(DFT) calculations when two types of Pd(Ⅱ) catalysts are employed. In [Pd(MeCN)_4](BF_4)_2 catalytic cycle, a 1,4-benzoquinone(BQ)-induced C-H activation of trans-(MeCN)_2Pd(BQ)~(2+) with 3-methoxyacetanilide occurs as the first step to give DC-4_(MeCN), facilitating the insertion of n-butyl acrylate and β-hydride elimination, followed by recycling of catalyst through hydrogen abstraction of monocationic BQ fragment. In Pd(OAc)_(2) catalytic cycle, it is proposed that the most favored reaction pathway should proceed in dicationic mechanism involving a BQ-assisted hydrogen transfer for C-H activation by Pd active catalyst(HOAc)_(2)Pd(BQ)^(2+) to generate DC-4_(HOAc), promoting acrylate insertion and β-hydride elimination, followed by the regeneration of catalyst to give the final product. The calculations indicate that the rate-determining step in [Pd(MeCN)_(4)](BF_4)_(2) catalytic system is the acrylate insertion, while it is the regeneration of catalyst in the Pd(OAc)_(2) catalytic system. In particular, the roles of BQ and ligand effects have also been investigated.
