High temperature co-fired ceramics(HTCCs) have wide applications with stable mechanical properties,but they have not yet been used to fabricate *** introducing the wireless telemetric sensor system and ceramic structure embedding a pressure-deformable cavity,the designed sensors made from HTCC materials(zirconia and 96% alumina) are fabricated,and their capacities for the pressure measurement are tested using a wireless interrogation *** the fabricated sensor,a study is conducted to measure the atmospheric pressure in a sealed *** experimental sensitivity of the device is 2 Hz/Pa of zirconia and 1.08 Hz/Pa of alumina below 0.5 MPa with a readout distance of 2.5 *** described sensor technology can be applied for monitoring of atmospheric pressure to evaluate important component parameters in harsh environments.

Curcumin exerts a neuroprotective effect on Alzheimer’s disease;however,it is not known whether microRNAs are involved in this protective *** study was conducted using swAPP695-HEK293 cells as an Alzheimer’s disease cell ***695-HEK293 cells were treated with 0,0.5,1,2,5,and 10μM curcumin for 24 *** changes in miR-15b-5p,miR-19a-3p,miR-195-5p,miR-101-3p,miR-216b-5p,miR-16-5p and miR-185-5p expression were assessed by real-time quantitative polymerase chain *** mRNA and protein levels of amyloid precursor protein,amyloid-β40 and amyloid-β42 were evaluated by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction,western blot assays and enzyme-linked immunosorbent ***695-HEK293 cells were transfected with miR-15b-5p mimic,or treated with 1μM curcumin 24 hours before miR-15b-5p inhibitor *** effects of curcumin on amyloid precursor protein,amyloid-β40 and amyloid-β42 levels were evaluated by western blot assays and enzyme-linked immunosorbent *** assays were used to analyze the interaction between miR-15b-5p and the 3′-untranslated region of amyloid precursor *** results show that amyloid precursor protein and amyloid-βexpression were enhanced in swAPP695-HEK293 cells compared with HEK293 parental *** suppressed the expression of amyloid precursor protein and amyloid-βand up-regulated the expression of miR-15b-5p in swAPP695-HEK293 *** addition,we found a negative association of miR-15b-5p expression with amyloid precursor protein and amyloid-βlevels in the curcumin-treated *** assays revealed that miR-15b-5p impaired the luciferase activity of the plasmid harboring the 3′-untranslated region of amyloid precursor *** findings indicate that curcumin down-regulates the expression of amyloid precursor protein and amyloid-βin swAPP695-HEK293 cells,which was partially mediated by miR-15b-5p via targeting of the 3′-untranslated region of amyloid precursor protein.

The ring-opening polymerization （ROP） of ε-caprolactone （ε-CL） using lanthanide thiolate complexes [（CH3CsH4）2Sm（μ-SPh）（THF）]2 （1） and Sm（SPh）3（HMPA）3 （2） as initiators has been investigated for the first time. Both of 1 and 2 were found to be highly efficient initiators for the ROP of ε-CL. The poly（ε-caprolactone）（PCL） with molecular weight Mn up to 1.97 ×10^5 and relatively narrow molecular weight distributions （1.20〈MW/Mn〈 2.00） have been obtained in high yield in the temperature range of 35-65℃. According to the polymer yield, 2 showed much higher activity than 1. However, the number-average molecular weight of PCL obtained with 2 was much lower than with 1. The possible polymerization mechanism of the ε-CL polymerization has been proposed based on the results of the end group analysis of the ε-CL oligomer.

In this paper, an integrated validation method and process are developed for multivariate dynamic systems. The principal component analysis approach is used to address multivariate correlation and dimensionality reduction, the dynamic time warping and correlation coefficient are used for error assessment, and the subject matter experts (SMEs)’ opinions and principal component analysis coefficients are incorporated to provide the overall rating of the dynamic system. The proposed method and process are successfully demonstrated through a vehicle dynamic system problem.

Shearer and hydraulic support are matching equipments. To increase the operating speed of the shearer, the following speed of hydraulic support must be increased. This means increasing the volume of flow from emulsion power station. Analyzing the operating characteristics of hydraulic supports, the number of simultaneously operating supports is obtained by means of pressure parameter and time history at a certain time, which is a theory base for development of control system to multi-pump emulsion power station.

To prepare high wear resistance and high hardness coatings, electro-spark deposition was adopted for depositing an electrode of a mixture of 92wt%WC＋8wt%Co on a cast steel roll substrate. The coating was characterized by classical X-ray diffractometer （XRD） and scanning electron microscopy （SEM） with energy dispersive X-ray analysis （EDX）. The results indicate that the coating shows nanosized particulate structure and dendritic structure including columnar structure and equiaxed structure. The primary phases of the coating contain Fe3W3C, Co3W3C, Fe2C and Si2W. The coating has a low friction coefficient of 0.13, its average wear-resistance is 3.3 times that of the cast steel roll substrate and the main mechanism is abrasive wear. The maximum microhardness value of the coating is about 1573.9 Hv0.3. The study reveals that the electro-spark deposition process has the characteristic of better coating quality and the coating has higher wear resistance and hardness.

Comparison of an SMS text messaging and phone reminder to improve attendance at a health promotion center:A randomized controlled trial

Objective: To compare the efficacy of a short messaging service (SMS) text messaging and phone reminder to im-prove attendance rates at a health promotion center. Methods: A total of 1 859 participants who had scheduled appointments in the health promotion center of our hospital from April 2007 to May 2007 were enrolled in the study and randomly assigned into 3 groups: control (no reminder) group,SMS text messaging reminder group and telephone reminder group. Attendance rates and costs of interventions were collected. Results: A total of 1848 participants were eligible for analysis. Attendance rates of control,SMS and telephone groups were 80.5%,87.5% and 88.3%,respectively. The attendance rates were significantly higher in SMS and telephone groups than that in the control group,with odds ratio 1.698,95% confidence interval 1.224 to 2.316,P=0.001 in the SMS group,and odds ratio 1.829,95% confidence interval 1.333 to 2.509,P<0.001 in the telephone group. However,there was no difference between the SMS group and the telephone group (P=0.670). The cost effectiveness analysis showed that the cost per attendance for the SMS group (0.31 Yuan) was significantly lower than that for the telephone group (0.48 Yuan). Conclusion: SMS and telephone are effective reminders for improving attendance rate at a health promotion center. SMS reminder may be more cost-effective compared with the telephone reminder.
