Roles, their emotion, and interactions between them are three key elements for semantic content understanding of movies. In this paper, we proposed a novel movie summarization method to capture the semantic content in movies based on a string of IE-Role Nets. An IE-Role Net(interaction and emotion rolenet) models the emotion and interactions of roles in a shot of the movie. The whole movie is represented as a string of IE-Role Nets. Summarization of a movie is transformed into finding an optimal substring with user-specified summarization *** substring mining is conducted to find an optimal substring of the whole movie. We have conducted objective and subjective experiments on our method. Experimental results show the ability of our method to capture the semantic content of movies.

*** In recent decade,atomically precise metal nanoclusters,comprised of metal kernel and surface protecting ligands,have appeared as a new and promising nanomaterial for abundant applications,such as nanocatalysis,sensor,photoluminescence,a few to name,which is attributed to their electron energy quantization arising from quantum size effect[1].And the very recent investigations showed that the configuration of metal kernel and the electronic properties of metal nanoclusters with the same metal core are largely affected by the surface protecting ligands[[2],[3]].For example,the surface ligands can significantly alter the catalytic performance of metal nanocluster catalysts(*** and selectivity)in a positive *** have found that the Au_(25)(SR)_(18)nanocluster with the aromatic ligands can give higher conversions and a markedly increasing selectivity toward the desired product[4].

Single-chain nanoparticles represent an emerging class of nanomaterials designed to mimic protein's folding *** covalent crosslinking toward the formation of single-chain nanoparticles encounters complex energy landscapes,leading to the potential occurrence of misfolding *** noncovalent crosslinking can circumvent this issue,the resulting single-chain nanoparticles exhibit lower structural stability compared to their covalently crosslinked *** this study,we present a novel approach for the synthesis of single-chain nanoparticles,achieved through the combination of non-covalent and covalent intramolecular *** grafted onto the linear polymer form intrachain non-covalent stacks aided by hydrogen bonds,leading to the formation of non-covalently crosslinked single-chain *** nanoparticles undergo conversion to covalently crosslinked nanostructures through subsequent photo-irradiation using[2+2]photocycloaddition,a process facilitated by the supramolecular confinement ***,the resulting single-chain nanoparticles demonstrate both intrachain folding efficiency and substantial stability,offering significant potential for advancing applications across diverse fields.

Opening windows in coach buses is a practical approach to improving natural ventilation and mitigating infection risk(IR).Due to human behavior and weather conditions,the intermittent window opening strategy(IWOS)is a more common practice than keeping windows constantly *** its prevalence,there are no studies exploring IWOS specifically in *** employed indoor-outdoor coupled CFD simulations to assess the effects of various IWOS on pathogen-laden droplet(PLD)dispersion and IR in a coach bus that occurred a COVID-19 outbreak in Hunan,*** reveal that after ventilating through two skylights for 600–1800 s,opening front and rear windows(FW+RW)or FW with a wind catcher(FW+WCH)for just 40 s can reduce PLD concentration(Cave)to 5%of its initial level and the intake fraction of the infector’s neighbor(IFn)drops by 95%.Upon closing FW+RW or FW+WCH,Cave and IFn take over 580 s to return to the pre-opening ***,intermittent FW opening halves Cave and IFn within 7 min,but leads to rapid increases upon window ***,opening FW+RW and FW+WCH intermittently have pronounced impacts on indoor PLD concentration and are applicable approaches to control respiratory disease transmission in *** to the inhaled viral dose,it is recommended to open windows when driving time is over 12 minutes to reduce infection *** scenarios like epidemiological surveys and risk assessments,where assessing passenger infection risk is vital,some behaviors of opening windows cannot be overlooked and necessitate extra attention.

Carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emissions from aquatic ecosystems are important components of the global carbon cycle,yet the CO_(2)emissions from coastal reservoirs,especially in developing countries where urbanization and rapid land use change occur,are still poorly *** this study,the spatiotemporal variations in CO_(2)concentrations and fluxes were investigated in Wenwusha Reservoir located in the southeast coast of ***,the mean CO_(2)concentration and flux across the whole reservoir were 41.85±2.03μmol/L and 2.87±0.29 mmol/m2/h,respectively,and the reservoir was a consistent net CO_(2)source over the entire *** land use types and urbanization levels in the reservoir catchment significantly affected the input of exogenous carbon *** mean CO_(2)fluxwasmuch higher from waters adjacent to the urban land(5.05±0.87 mmol/m2/hr)than other land use *** with larger input of exogenous substance via sewage discharge and upstream runoff were often the hotspots of CO_(2)emission in the *** results suggested that urbanization process,agricultural activities,and large input of exogenous carbon could result in large spatial heterogeneity of CO_(2)emissions and alter the CO_(2)biogeochemical cycling in coastal *** studies should characterize the diurnal variations,microbial mechanisms,and impact of meteorological conditions on reservoir CO_(2)emissions to expand our understanding of the carbon cycle in aquatic ecosystems.

Comparison of lymph node number and prognosis in gastric cancer patients with perigastric lymph nodes retrieved by surgeons and pathologists

Objective： To compare the numbers of positive and total lymph nodes and prognosis in gastric cancer patients whose perigastric lymph node retrieval was performed by surgeons and pathologists. Methods： We conducted a retrospective analysis of clinical and follow-up data from 1,056 patients who underwent gastric cancer D2 radical lymph node resection between January 2008 and December 2010 in the Gastrointestinal Surgery Department of Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital. The follow-up ended in December 2015. Patients were divided into two groups according to the specialty of physicians who performed the postoperative perigastric lymph node retrieval： the surgeon group （475 cases） and the pathologist group （581 cases）. The numbers of positive and total perigastric lymph nodes and the 3- and 5-year survival were compared between gastric cancer patients in the two groups overall and stratified by TNM stage （AJCC 7th Edition）. Results： Overall, the numbers of positive and total lymph nodes were significantly higher in the surgeon group than in the pathologist group （6.53±4.07 vs. 4.09±3.70, P=0.021; 29.64±11.50 vs. 20.71±8.56, P〈0.001）. Further analysis showed that the total number of lymph nodes in stage Ⅰ patients （19.40±9.62 vs. 15.45±8.59, P=0.011） and the numbers of positive and total lymph nodes in stage Ⅱ（1.38±1.08 vs. 0.87±1.55, P=0.031; 25.35±10.80 vs. 16.75±8.56, P〈0.001） and stage Ⅲ patients （8.11±6.91 vs. 6.66±5.12, P=0.026; 32.34±12.55 vs. 25.45±8.31, P〈0.001） were significantly higher in the surgeon group than in the pathologist group. The survival analysis showed that the 3- and 5-year survival of stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ patients was significantly higher in the surgeon group than in the pathologist group （82.0% vs. 73.1%, 69.5% vs. 61.2%, P=0.038; 49.2% vs. 38.9%, 36.3% vs. 28.0%; P=0.045）. Load Shedding Strategy Based on Combined Feed-Forward Plus Feedback Control over Data Streams

In data stream management systems (DSMSs), how to maintain the quality of queries is a difficult problem because both the processing cost and data arrival rates are highly unpredictable. When the system is overloaded, quality degrades significantly and thus load shedding becomes necessary. Unlike processing overloading in the general way which is only by a feedback control (FB) loop to obtain a good and stable performance over data streams, a feedback plus feed-forward control (FFC) strategy is introduced in DSMSs, which have a good quality of service (QoS) in the aspects of miss ratio and processing delay. In this paper, a quality adaptation framework is proposed, in which the control-theory-based techniques are leveraged to adjust the application behavior with the considerations of the current system status. Compared to previous solutions, the FFC strategy achieves a good quality with a waste of fewer resources.

Limited surface lubrication and bacterial biofilm formation pose great challenges to biomedical *** hydrophilic lubricated coatings and bacterial resistance coatings have been reported,the harsh and tedious synthesis greatly compromises their application,and more importantly,the bacterial resistance property has seldom been investigated in combination with the lubrication *** this study,bioinspired by the performances of mussel and articular cartilage,we successfully synthesized self-adhesive lubricated coating and simultaneously achieved optimal lubrication and bacterial resistance ***,we reported the mechanism of bacterial resistance on the nanoscale by studying the adhesion interactions between biomimetic coating and hydrophilic/hydrophobic tip or living bacteria via atomic force *** summary,the self-adhesive lubricated coating can effectively enhance lubrication and bacterial resistance performances based on hydration lubrication and hydration repulsion,and represent a universal and facial strategy for surface functionalization of biomedical implants.

Are China's Nationally Determined Contributions(NDCs) so bad?

A recent article by Robiou du Pont and Meinshausen [1](hereafter RM2018) declared that when taken as benchmark by other countries, the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) of India, the EU, the USA and China lead to 2.6, 3.2, 4 and over 5.1 °C warmings. RM2018 was quickly referred in media that China's NDC is "one of the worst to contribute to the global effort to reach the targets under Paris Agreement”.
