Fast and Robust Stereo Vision Algorithm for Obstacle Detection

Binocular computer vision is based on bionics, after the calibration through the camera head by double-exposure image synchronization, access to the calculation of two-dimensional image pixels of the three-dimensional depth information. In this paper, a fast and robust stereo vision algorithm is described to perform in-vehicle obstacles detection and characterization. The stereo algorithm which provides a suitable representation of the geometric content of the road scene is described, and an in-vehicle embedded system is presented. We present the way in which the algorithm is used, and then report experiments on real situations which show that our solution is accurate, reliable and efficient. In particular, both processes are fast, generic, robust to noise and bad conditions, and work even with partial occlusion.

Regulation of rhizosphere microenvironment by rice husk ash for reducing the accumulation of cadmium and arsenic in rice

It is important to reduce Cd and As content in brown rice in contaminated paddy *** conducted research on the effects of rice husk ash (RHA) on the Cd and As in the rhizosphere microenvironment (soil,porewater,and iron plaque) and measured the Cd,As,and Si content in rice *** main elements in RHA were Si (29.64%) and O (69.17%),which had the maximum adsorption capacity for Cd was 42.49 mg/kg and for As was 18.62 mg/*** pH and available Si content increased,while soil available Cd and As decreased following application of 0.5%–2%*** promote the transformation of Cd to insoluble fraction,while As was transformed from a poorly soluble form to a more active *** reduced Cd content and increased Si content in porewater,and reduced As only at the later rice growth *** increased the amount of iron plaque,thereby decreasing the Cd content in iron plaque,while increased the As content in *** and inorganic As content in brown rice were decreased,to 0.31 mg/kg and 0.18 mg/kg,*** decrease of Cd in brown rice was due to the decrease of Cd mobility in soil,thereby reducing root accumulation,while the decrease of As in brown rice was affected by the transport from roots to ***,RHA can be considered as a safe and efficient in-situ remediation amendment for Cd and As co-contaminated paddy soil.

COVID-19 pandemic impact on ocular trauma in a tertiary hospital

AIM:To analyze the impact of the coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19)pandemic on the presentation and characteristics of patients hospitalized for ocular trauma in a tertiary hospital in China between 2019 and ***:A retrospective case study was designed to collect information on all cases of ocular trauma in a tertiary hospital from 2019 to 2020 and compare differences in inpatients’data(age,sex,admission vision acuity,type of diagnosis,hospital stays,mechanism of injury and location of injury).RESULTS:The total number of patients admitted to the Ophthalmology Department was 883(mean 73.58±11.25patients per month)in 2019 and 714(59.50±17.92patients per month)in *** injury number of in work was also the most within the four types of location in this two year(42.36%in 2019,43.84%in 2020).The mean hospital stays were 12.66d in 2019 and 10.81d in *** highest incidence of ocular trauma was the middleaged(41-65y)groups in 2019 and *** most common cause of ocular trauma was sharp object in 2019(47.34%)and 2020(47.58%).The mechanical ocular trauma reaches98.98%in 2019 and 99.72%in ***:The number of patients with ocular trauma decreased in 2020,but middle-aged(41-65y)are still high incident *** ocular trauma remains the leading cause of hospitalization for ocular trauma patients and the proportion of patients injured at home *** is necessary to arouse social attention and the public’s awareness of eye trauma protection should be strengthened during the pandemic.

Understand the Temperature Sensing Behavior of Solid-state Polymerized PEDOT Hybrid Based on X-ray Scattering Studies

Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT) is one of the most successful conductive polymers that recently has been used in wearable sensors for human health monitoring. In this work, we prepared a series of PEDOT hybrids consisting of PEDOT, sodium poly(styrene sulfonate)(PSSNa) and polyethylene oxide(PEO), and their preparation could be scaled-up via an adapted solid-state polymerization process. The resistance of the as-prepared PEDOT:PSS/PEO hybrid shows clear temperature response, i.e., it decreases almost linearly with the temperature increase. To understand this phenomenon, the in situ synchrotron radiation wide-and small-angle X-ray scattering(WAXS/SAXS) characterizations were undertaken to study the temperature-dependent microstructure change of the PEDOT:PSS/PEO hybrid. It demonstrated that PEDOT formed conductive paths in the hybrids, which were not destroyed by the PEO crystallization. As temperature increased, the PEO crystals' melting and the accompanying reorganization of PEDOT chains endowed the hybrid sample temperature responsiveness. Based on these fundamental knowledges, the hybrid materials were used to fabricate flexible wearable sensor that showing temperature sensing performance with an accuracy of 1 ℃. These findings shed lights on the scalable manufacturing of wearable sensors for body temperature monitoring.

Optimal Cooperative Secondary Control for Islanded DC Microgrids via a Fully Actuated Approach

DC-DC converter-based multi-bus DC microgrids(MGs) in series have received much attention, where the conflict between voltage recovery and current balancing has been a hot topic. The lack of models that accurately portray the electrical characteristics of actual MGs while is controller design-friendly has kept the issue active. To this end, this paper establishes a large-signal model containing the comprehensive dynamical behavior of the DC MGs based on the theory of high-order fully actuated systems, and proposes distributed optimal control based on this. The proposed secondary control method can achieve the two goals of voltage recovery and current sharing for multi-bus DC MGs. Additionally, the simple structure of the proposed approach is similar to one based on droop control, which allows this control technique to be easily implemented in a variety of modern microgrids with different configurations. In contrast to existing studies, the process of controller design in this paper is closely tied to the actual dynamics of the MGs. It is a prominent feature that enables engineers to customize the performance metrics of the system. In addition, the analysis of the stability of the closed-loop DC microgrid system, as well as the optimality and consensus of current sharing are given. Finally, a scaled-down solar and battery-based microgrid prototype with maximum power point tracking controller is developed in the laboratory to experimentally test the efficacy of the proposed control method.

Evaluation of water management on arsenic methylation and volatilization in arsenic-contaminated soils strengthened by bioaugmentation and biostimulation

Arsenic(As) fate in paddy fields has been one of the most significant current issues due to the strong As accumulation potential of rice plants under fooded conditions. However,no attempt was done to explore As methylation and volatilization under non-fooded conditions. Herein, we investigated the effects of water management on As methylation and volatilization in three arsenic-contaminated soils enhanced by biostimulation with strawderived organic matter and bioaugmentation with genetic engineered Pseudomonas putida KT2440(GE P. putida). Under fooded conditions, the application of biochar(BC), rice straw(RS)and their combination(BC+RS) increased total As in porewater. However, these effects were greatly attenuated under non-fooded conditions. Compared with RS amendment alone, the combination of GE P. putida and RS further promoted the As methylation and volatilization,and the promotion percentage under non-fooded conditions were significantly higher than that under fooded conditions. The combined GE P. putida and RS showed the highest efficiency in As methylation(88 μg/L) and volatilization(415.4 μg/(kg·year)) in the non-fooded soil with moderate As contamination. Finally, stepwise multiple linear regression analysis presented that methylated As, DOC and p H in porewater were the most important factors contributing to As volatilization. Overall, our findings suggest that combination of bioaugmentation with GE P. putida and biostimulation with RS/BC+RS is a potential strategy for bioremediation of arsenic-contaminated soils by enhancing As methylation and volatilization under non-fooded conditions.

Sharp Interface Limit for the One-dimensional Compressible Navier-Stokes/Allen-Cahn System with Composite Waves

This paper is concerned with the sharp interface limit of Cauchy problem for the one-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes/Allen-Cahn system with a composite wave consisting of the superposition of a rarefaction wave and a shock wave. Under the assumption that the viscosity coefficient and the reciprocal of mobility coefficient are directly proportional to the interface thickness, we first convert the sharp interface limit of the system into the large time behavior of the composite wave via a natural scaling. Then we prove that the composite wave is asymptotically stable under the small initial perturbations and the small strength of the rarefaction and shock wave. Finally, we show the solution of the Cauchy problem exists for all time, and converges to the composite wave solution of the corresponding Euler equations as the thickness of the interface tends to zero. The proof is mainly based on the energy method and the relative entropy.

P-type Mg_(3)Sb_(2)-based Zintls have attracted considerable interest in the thermoelectric(TE)field due to their environmental friendliness and low ***,compared to their n-type counterparts,they show relatively low TE performance,limiting their application in TE *** this work,we simultaneously introduce Bi alloying at Sb sites and Ag doping at Mg sites into the Mg_(3)Sb_(2)to coopera-tively optimize the electrical and thermal properties for the first time,acquiring the highest ZT value of∼0.85 at 723 K and a high average ZT of 0.39 in the temperature range of 323-723 K in sample Mg_(2.94)Ag_(0.06)Sb_(1.9)Bi_(0.1).The first-principle calculations show that the codoping of Ag and Bi can shift the Fermi level into the valence band and narrow the band gap,resulting in the increased carrier concentration from 3.50×10^(17)cm^(-3)in the reference Mg 3 Sb 0.9 Bi 0.1 to∼7.88×10^(19)cm^(-3)in sample Mg 2.94 Ag 0.06 Sb 0.9 Bi *** a result,a remarkable power factor of∼778.9μW m^(-1)K^(-2)at 723 K is achieved in sample Mg 2.94 Ag 0.06 Sb 0.9 Bi ***,a low lattice thermal conductivity of∼0.48 W m^(-1)K^(-1)at 723 K is also obtained with the help of phonon scattering at the distorted lattice,point defects,and nano-precipitates in sample Mg 2.94 Ag 0.06 Sb 0.9 Bi *** synergistic effect of using the multi-element co-doping/-alloying to optimize electrical properties in Mg_(3)Sb_(2)holds promise for further improving the TE performance of Zintl phase materials or even others.

Strong Linearizability Checking and Determination for Concurrent Objects

Linearizability is universally accepted as a correctness criterion for concurrent objects. However, it has been shown that linearizability cannot be adopted as a correctness criterion for concurrent objects with random sentences. Thus, Golab et al. proposed the concept of strong linearizability, which adds prefix preservation properties based on the linearizability definition and has more constraints for concurrent objects. The research on strong linearizability focuses on the feasibility of generating strongly linearizable objects with certain basic objects, while only a few studies are about checking and verification of strong linearizability. This study investigates strong linearizability from two aspects including the verification algorithm and approach for proving non-strong linearizability of concurrent objects. First, it divides strong linearizability into fixed effective points and pure help and proves that the notion of fixed effective points is an extension of that of fixed linearizability points. Then, two verification algorithms for strong linearizability are put forward. One algorithm is based on checking the fixed linearizability points, and the other is based on the fixed effective points. Finally, an approach is provided for proving that the concurrent objects violate strong linearizability, and it helps verify that the Herlihy&Wing queue, a single-reader single-write register, and a snapshot object violate strong linearizability. © 2024 Chinese Academy of Sciences.
