Preparation and microwave absorption properties of flexible composites containing Ag decorated polystyrene powders

Polystyrene(PS)microspheres have the advantages of good stability,corrosion resistance and low density,which have a broad application *** this paper,PS composite microspheres with 20%silver plating content were prepared by chemical plating method and incorporated into polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)flexible matrix to prepare Ag@PS/PDMS flexible wave-absorbing *** electromagnetic parameters were adjusted to optimize the dielectric and wave-absorbing properties by varying the additional amount of Ag@PS composite microspheres in Ag@PS/PDMS *** X-ray diffraction(XRD)results proved the successful preparation of Ag@PS composite *** SEM and EDS images indicated that the Ag particles were attached to the external surface of *** presence of Ag particles in the Ag@PS composite microspheres enhances their electrical conductivity and enables the formation of a conductive ***,in turn,improves the composites’dielectric *** optimal wave-absorbing capability of the composites was achieved when the Ag@PS composite microspheres were added at a weight percentage of 50%.When the sample attains a thickness of 1.8 mm,a reflection loss of at least-39.8 dB is attained at 10.4 GHz,along with a bandwidth of 1.6 GHz(9.1–10.7 GHz)for the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB).The pressure-sensitive properties of the pliable composites were investigated as *** optimal pressure-sensitive performance of Ag@PS/PDMS composites was achieved with a 60 wt.%addition of Ag@PS composite *** resistance undergoes significant changes when subjected to pressure with a sensitivity of *** results indicate that the flexible composites’wave-absorption and pressuresensitivity properties can be modulated by adjusting the amount of Ag@PS composite microspheres added.

The occurrence of benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH)was related to disrupted sex steroid hormones,and metformin(Met)had a clinical response to sex steroid hormone-related gynaecological ***,whether Met exerts an antiproliferative effect on BPH via sex steroid hormones remains ***,our clinical study showed that along with prostatic epithelial cell(PEC)proliferation,sex steroid hormones were dysregulated in the serum and prostate of BPH *** the major contributor to dysregulated sex steroid hormones,elevated dihydrotestosterone(DHT)had a significant positive relationship with the clinical characteristics of BPH *** of adenosine 5'-monophosphate(AMP)-activated protein kinase(AMPK)by Met restored dysregulated sex steroid hormone homeostasis and exerted antiproliferative effects against DHT-induced proliferation by inhibiting the formation of androgen receptor(AR)-mediated Yes-associated protein(YAP1)-TEA domain transcription factor(TEAD4)***’s anti-proliferative effects were blocked by AMPK inhibitor or YAP1 overexpression in DHT-cultured BPH-1 *** findings indicated that Met would be a promising clinical therapeutic approach for BPH by inhibiting dysregulated steroid hormone-induced PEC proliferation.

This study introduces an innovative dual-tunable absorption film with the capability to switch between ultra-wideband and narrowband *** manipulating the temperature,the film can achieve multi-band absorption within the 30-45 THz range or ultra-wideband absorption spanning 30-130 THz,with an absorption rate exceeding ***,the structural parameters of the absorption film are optimized using the particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm to ensure the optimal absorption *** absorption response of the film is primarily attributed to the coupling of guided-mode resonance and local surface plasmon resonance *** film's symmetric structure enables polarization incoherence and allows for tuning through various means such as doping/voltage,temperature and structural *** the case of a multi-band absorption response,the film exhibits good sensitivity to refractive index changes in multiple absorption ***,the absorption spectrum of the film remains effective even at large incidence angles,making it highly promising for applications in fields such as biosensing and infrared stealth.

Understanding the combustion behavior of electric bicycle batteries and unveiling its relationship with fire extinguishing

In this study,a detailed analysis of the combustion behaviors of the lithium iron phosphate(LFP)and lithium manganese oxide(LMO)batteries used in electric bicycles was *** research included quantitative measurements of the combustion duration,flame height,combustion temperature,heat release rate,and total heat *** results indicated that LMO batteries exhibited higher combustion temperatures of 600–700°C,flame heights of 70–75 cm,a significantly higher heat release rate of40.1 k W(12 Ah),and a total heat release of 1.04 MJ(12 Ah)compared to LFP batteries with the same *** on these experimental results,a normalized total heat release(NORTHR)parameter was proposed,demonstrating good universality for batteries with different *** this parameter,quantitative calculations and optimization of the extinguishing agent dosage were conducted for fires involving these two types of batteries,and the method was validated by extinguishing fires for these two types of battery packs with water-based extinguishing fluids.

Enhanced photothermal dehydration of methanol over W_(18)O_(49)/Au/SAPO-34 catalysts with broadened light absorption

Methanol-to-olefins(MTO)process is one of the most critical pathways to produce low carbon ***,the reaction is driven by thermal catalysis,which inevitably needs to consume large amounts of fossil *** a new technique to substitute for the fuel burning is urgent for MTO process to improve the industry prospects and ***,we report a novel W_(18)O_(49)/Au/SAPO-34(W/Au/S),a multifunctional photothermal catalyst for the MTO reaction.A high methanol conversion was achieved under xenonum(Xe)lamp irradiation,yielding methyl ether(ME)and ethylene as the main *** optimized W/Au/S catalysts showed ethylene yield as high as 250μmol in 60 min,which was 2.5 times higher than that of Au/*** physiochemical characterization revealed that the SAPO-34 molecular sieves were surrounded by Au and W_(18)O_(49)nanoparticles,which exhibited a strong localized surface plasmon resonance excitation around 540 nm and light absorption beyond 500 *** multifunctional catalysts showed a strong photothermal effect,arising from the broadened light absorption of Au and W_(18)O_(49)nanoparticles,leading to a temperature as high as 250℃on the surface of the *** study showed that the superior ethylene selectivity of W/Au/S catalysts was attributed to the moderating acidic sites of W_(18)O_(49)for methanol dehydration to *** research may provide new insight for designing heterostructures to improve photo-to-chemical conversion performance and is expected to accelerate progress toward the excellent multifunctional photothermal catalysts with broad light absorption for methanol activation and C-C bond formation.

Efficient photocatalytic biomass-alcohol conversion with simultaneous hydrogen evolution over ultrathin 2D NiS/Ni-CdS photocatalyst

The photocatalytic conversion of biomass into high-value chemicals,coupled with simultaneous hydrogen(H_(2))evolution,leveraging the electrons and holes generated by solar energy,holds great promise for addressing energy *** this study,we constructed a dual functional photocatalytic system formed by NiS loaded on Ni doped two-dimensional(2D)CdS nanosheet(NiS/Ni-CdSNS)heterostructure for visible-light-driven H_(2)evolution and ethanol oxidation to ***,the 2D NiS/NiCdSNS exhibited significant activity and selectivity in both photocatalytic H_(2)evolution and ethanol oxidation,achieving yields of 7.98 mmol g^(-1)h^(-1)for H_(2)and 7.33 mmol g^(-1)h^(-1)for *** heterogeneous interface of the composite facilitated efficient charge separation,while NiS provided abundant sites for proton reduction,thereby promoting the overall dual-functional photocatalytic *** functional theory calculations further reveal that both Ni doping and NiS loading can reduce the reaction energy barrier of ethanol oxidation of free radicals,and NiS/Ni-CdSNS composite materials exhibit stronger ethanol C-H activation ability to generate key intermediate·CH(OH)CH_(3)on the *** work serves as a valuable guide for the rational design of efficient dual functional photocatalytic systems that combine H_(2)evolution with the selective conversion of organic compounds into high-value chemicals.
