Compared to data on adolescents and adults,limited research has been conducted on biological correlates among young children with possible psychological difficulties,especially in Asian countries.By focusing on various peripheral biochemical indicators,we investigated potential biological correlates of psychological states in a community sample of Taiwan Residents school children aged6–10 years.In total,307 students(159 obese children and148 normal-weight children) were selected from first- and fourth-grade school children in eight elementary schools in the Taipei metropolitan area in 2009.These children underwent a comprehensive health examination,including a physical examination,blood sample analysis,andquestionnaire administration in a hospital.Differences in anthropometric and serum biochemical readings were compared between children with average and worse levels on each of the five psychological domains.We found that interleukin(IL)-1β [b = 1.29,95 % confidence interval(CI) 0.50–2.09],IL-10(b = 1.61,95 % CI \0.01–3.24),fasting blood glucose(b = 0.08,95 % CI 0.01–0.15),homocysteine(b = 0.63,95 % CI 0.09–1.18),and aspartate transaminase(AST)(b = 0.15,95 % CI \0.01–0.31)were significantly positively associated with anxiety.In addition,IL-1β,insulin,AST,and alanine aminotransaminase(ALT) were significantly positively associated with depression.Anger and disruptive behaviors were also related to specific biological correlates.Specific biological correlates,including AST/ALT,cardiovascular diseaserelated variables,and specific cytokines,were linked to particular psychological states among young children in this Asian population.These might provide a route for better understanding the biological aspects of children's mental health and might contribute to research on diagnostic or predictive biomarkers for psychiatric diseases in young children.

Primary pancreatic lymphoma(PPL)is an extremely rare form of extranodal malignant lymphoma.The most common histological subtype of PPL is diffuse large B cell lymphoma(DLBCL).In rare cases,PPL can also present as follicular lymphoma,small lymphocytic lymphoma,and T cell lymphoma either of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma or of Hodgkin’s lymphoma.T-cell/histiocyterich large B-cell lymphoma(T/HRBCL)is an uncommon morphologic variant of DLBCL with aggressive clinical course,it is predominantly a nodal disease,but extranodal sites such as bone marrow,liver,and spleen can be involved.Pancreatic involvement of T/HRBCL was not presented before.Herein,we report a 48-year-old male who was hospitalized with complaints of jaundice,dark brown urine,pale stools,and nausea.The radiological evaluation revealed a pancreatic head mass and,following operative biopsy,the tumor was diagnosed as T/HRBCL.The patient achieved remission after six cycles of CHOP chemotherapy.Therefore,T/HRBCL can be treated similarly to the stage-matched DLBCL and both of them get equivalent outcomes after chemotherapy.

The visual modeling method enables flexible interactions with rich graphical depictions of data and supports the exploration of the complexities of epidemiological analysis.However,most epidemiology visualizations do not support the combined analysis of objective factors that might influence the transmission situation,resulting in a lack of quantitative and qualitative evidence.To address this issue,we developed a portrait-based visual modeling method called+msRNAer.This method considers the spatiotemporal features of virus transmission patterns and multidimensional features of objective risk factors in communities,enabling portrait-based exploration and comparison in epidemiological analysis.We applied+msRNAer to aggregate COVID-19-related datasets in New South Wales,Australia,combining COVID-19 case number trends,geo-information,intervention events,and expert-supervised risk factors extracted from local government area-based censuses.We perfected the+msRNAer workflow with collaborative views and evaluated its feasibility,effectiveness,and usefulness through one user study and three subject-driven case studies.Positive feedback from experts indicates that+msRNAer provides a general understanding for analyzing comprehension that not only compares relationships between cases in time-varying and risk factors through portraits but also supports navigation in fundamental geographical,timeline,and other factor comparisons.By adopting interactions,experts discovered functional and practical implications for potential patterns of long-standing community factors regarding the vulnerability faced by the pandemic.Experts confirmed that+msRNAer is expected to deliver visual modeling benefits with spatiotemporal and multidimensional features in other epidemiological analysis scenarios.

Adult neural stem cells are neurogenesis progenitor cells that play an important role in neurogenesis.Therefore,neural regeneration may be a promising target for treatment of many neurological illnesses.The regenerative capacity of adult neural stem cells can be chara cterized by two states:quiescent and active.Quiescent adult neural stem cells are more stable and guarantee the quantity and quality of the adult neural stem cell pool.Active adult neural stem cells are chara cterized by rapid proliferation and differentiation into neurons which allow for integration into neural circuits.This review focuses on diffe rences between quiescent and active adult neural stem cells in nutrition metabolism and protein homeostasis.Furthermore,we discuss the physiological significance and underlying advantages of these diffe rences.Due to the limited number of adult neural stem cells studies,we refe rred to studies of embryonic adult neural stem cells or non-mammalian adult neural stem cells to evaluate specific mechanisms.

Background:Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury(HIRI)remains a common complication during liver transplantation(LT)in patients.As a key downstream effector of the Hippo pathway,Yes-associated protein(YAP)has been reported to be involved in various physiological and pathological processes.However,it remains elusive whether and how YAP may control autophagy activation during ischemia-reperfusion.Methods:Human liver tissues from patients who had undergone LT were obtained to evaluate the correlation between YAP and autophagy activation.Both an in vitro hepatocyte cell line and in vivo liver-specific YAP knockdown mice were used to establish the hepatic ischemia-reperfusion models to determine the role of YAP in the activation of autophagy and the mechanism of regulation.Results:Autophagy was activated in the post-perfusion liver grafts during LT in patients,and the expression of YAP positively correlated with the autophagic level of hepatocytes.Liver-specific knockdown of YAP inhibited hepatocytes autophagy upon hypoxia-reoxygenation and HIRI(P<0.05).YAP deficiency aggravated HIRI by promoting the apoptosis of hepatocytes both in the in vitro and in vivo models(P<0.05).Attenuated HIRI by overexpression of YAP was diminished after the inhibition of autophagy with 3-methyladenine.In addition,inhibiting autophagy activation by YAP knockdown exacerbated mitochondrial damage through increasing reactive oxygen species(P<0.05).Moreover,the regulation of autophagy by YAP during HIRI was mediated by AP1(c-Jun)N-terminal kinase(JNK)signaling through binding to the transcriptional enhanced associate domain(TEAD).Conclusions:YAP protects against HIRI by inducing autophagy via JNK signaling that suppresses the apoptosis of hepatocytes.Targeting Hippo(YAP)-JNK-autophagy axis may provide a novel strategy for the prevention and treatment of HIRI.

Integrating electrochemical reduction of CO_(2)and electrochemical oxidation to recycle degraded superalloys is a promising solution to ease resource scarcity and safeguard environmental sustainability.Herein,we propose an electrochemical technique for the conversion of bulk superalloy scraps and CO_(2)into oxide powder at the anode and solid carbon at the cathode,respectively.In particular,a borax-modifi ed CaCl_(2)-based molten salt electrolyte is used for enhancing the electrochemical oxidation of superalloy scraps.At a temperature of 700℃and a voltage of 2.8 V,90.55 wt.%of alloy scraps were oxidized in a molten CaCl_(2)–NaCl–CaCO_(3)–Na_(2)B_(4)O_(7)with an acid–base ratio(K_(a/b))of 1.The synergy of Cl−and B_(4)O_(7)2−of electrolyte prevents the passivation of the alloy anode and enables continuous oxidation.Furthermore,the Ni and Co in the anode products are recovered by sulfation roasting with recovery efficiencies of 85.58%and 95.27%for Ni and Co,respectively.Overall,modulating the alkalinity of the electrolyte for enhancing oxidation/pulverization of alloy scrap anode provides new insight into electrochemically recovering superalloy scraps.

Synchrotron-based angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy was employed to investigate the temperature evolution of the Yb 4 f spectral for surface and bulk in the Kondo lattice YbCu_(2)Si_(2).Our study quantitatively distinguishes between the surface and bulk hybridization processes,revealing that the onset temperatures for both surface and bulk hybridization processes are significantly higher than the Kondo temperature.Additionally,we found that the effective surface Kondo temperature is much lower than that of the bulk.These findings offer valuable insights into the understanding of heavy fermion physics.

BACKGROUND Ovarian cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in female reproductive system in the world,and the choice of its treatment is very important for the survival rate and prognosis of patients.Traditional open surgery is the main treatment for ovarian cancer,but it has the disadvantages of big trauma and slow recovery.With the continuous development of minimally invasive technology,minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery under general anesthesia has been gradually applied to the treatment of ovarian cancer because of its advantages of less trauma and quick recovery.However,the efficacy and safety of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery under general anesthesia in the treatment of ovarian cancer are still controversial.AIM To explore the efficacy and safety of general anesthesia minimally invasive surgery in the treatment of ovarian cancer.METHODS The clinical data of 90 patients with early ovarian cancer in our hospital were analyzed retrospectively.According to the different surgical treatment methods,patients were divided into study group and control group(45 cases in each group).The study group received minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery under general anesthesia for ovarian cancer,while the control group received traditional open surgery for ovarian cancer.The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire(EORTC QLQ-C30),clinical efficacy and safety of the two groups were compared.RESULTS The intraoperative blood loss,length of hospital stay,postoperative gas evacuation time,and postoperative EORTC QLQ-C30 score of the study group were significantly better than those of the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of postoperative complications in the study group was significantly lower than in the control group(P<0.05).The two groups had no significant differences in the preoperative adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH),androstenedione(AD),cortisol(Cor),cluster of differentiation 3 positive(CD3+),and cluster of differentiation 4 positive(CD4+)indexes(
