AIM:Tocomparetheeffectsandcomplicationsof direc cyclopexy (DC) versus vitrectomy, endophotocoagulation, and gas/silicone oil endotamponade (VEE) treatment in patients with cyclodialysis and persistent ***: This is a prospective, comparative, non-randomized clinical trial which includes 52 patients with cyclodialysis and persisting hypotony. Fifty-two patients suffering from cyclodialysis and persistent hypotony in one eye were divided into 2 groups (groups DC and VEE) and treated, respectively, with direct cyclopexy or vitrectomy, endophotocoagulation, and gas/silicone oil endotamponade. The patients were followed up for 12 months. Assessments included best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), anterior chamber depth (ACD), anterior chamber volume (ACV) and subjective rating of the pain caused by the ***: After a follow-up of 12 months, significan improvement was seen in postoperative mean BCVA, IOP, ACD and ACV in both treatment groups (which were not significantly different from each other). The success rates for the treatments were not significantly different (DC: 50.0% vs VEE: 62.5% , P =0.383). Postoperative morbidity of cataract and subjective pain rating were significantly higher in the VEE group vs the DC group (P =0.003 and P <0.001 respectively).CONCLUSION: DC and VEE were effective surgica procedures in treating patients with cyclodialysis and persistent hypotony. Patients had better tolerance to DC treatment and VEE was more likely lead to cataract complications. Taking into consideration the ease of the operation, success rate, and patient comfort, DC treatment seems preferable to VEE treatment in patients with simple cyclodialysis. While VEE has the advantage of treating patients with cyclodialysis combined with vitreous hemorrhage.

Old canalicular laceration repair:a retrospective study of the curative effects and prognostic factors

AIM： To investigate the epidemiology and surgical outcomes of old canalicular laceration and analyze the variables impacting on the prognosis of reparation. METHODS： A retrospective review of all old canalicular laceration repairs from Jan. 1, 2008 to Dec. 30, 2015 was performed. Analyzed data included demographics, mechanisms of injury, the time from injury to repair, causes for delayed repair, old associated injuries, the types of surgery, and the effects of repair using canaliculus anastomosis combined with bicanalicular stent intubation. RESULTS： Totally 148 patients with old canalicular laceration received surgical repair and were enrolled. The mean age at presentation was 32.52 years old （ranged from 3 to 63 years old）. The 110 patients （74.32%） were male and 127 patients （85.81%） were adults （__.18 years old）. The old upper, lower, and bicanalicular lacerations were found in 5 （3.38%）, 39 （26.35%）, and 104 patients （70.27%）, respectively. The mechanism of old injury was primarily due to motor vehicle accidents （n=53, 35.81%）. The mean time from injury to repair was 43.61mo （ranged from 1 to 360mo）. Associated old ocular and orbit injuries were found in 65 patients （43.92%）, and chronic dacryocystitis in 18 patients （12.16%）. The main cause of delayed repair was that doctors or patients didn＇t pay attention to the canalicular laceration because of the concurrent severe injuries （n=71, 47.97%）. Totally 136 patients （91.89%） with old canalicular laceration underwent canaliculus anastomosis combined with bicanalicular stent intubation. In all of them, 20 patients （13.51%） were combined with dacryocystorhinostomy. In these cases, 132 patients （97.06%） attained anatomic success, 121 patients （88.97%）reported no epiphora （functional success）, 11 patients （8.09%） reported significant epiphora anesis （functional improvement）, and 4 （2.94%） reported no significant anesis （functional failure）. AIM： To investigate the difference in kappa angle between sitting and supine positions during laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis（LASIK）.·METHODS： A retrospective study was performed on395 eyes from 215 patients with myopia that received LASIK. Low, moderate, and high myopia groups were assigned according to diopters. The horizontal and vertical components of kappa angle in sitting position were measured before the operation, and in supine position during the operation. The data from the two positions were compared and the relationship between kappa angle and diopters were analyzed.· RESULTS： Two hundred and twenty-three eyes（56.5%） in sitting position and 343 eyes（86.8%） in supine position had positive kappa angles. There were no significant differences in horizontal and vertical components of kappa angle in the sitting position or horizontal components of kappa angle in the supine position between the three groups（P 〉0.05）. A significant difference in the vertical components of kappa angle in the supine position was seen in the three groups（P 〈0.01）. Differences in both horizontal and vertical components of kappa angles were significant between the sitting and supine positions. Positive correlations in both horizontal and vertical components of kappa angles（P 〈0.05） were found and vertical components of kappa angle in sitting and supine positions were negatively correlated with the degree of myopia（sitting position： r =-0.109; supine position： r =-0.172; P 〈0.05）.·CONCLUSION： There is a correlation in horizontal and vertical components of kappa angle in sitting and supine positions. Positive correlations in both horizontal and vertical components of kappa angle in sitting and supine positions till the end of the results. This result still needs further observation. Clinicians should take into account different postures when excimer laser surgery needs to be performed.

AIM:To evaluate the accuracy of axial length(AL)measurements obtained from immersion B-scan ultrasonography(immersion B-scan)for intraocular lens(IOL)power calculation in patients with high myopia and ***:Immersion B-scan,contact A-scan ultrasonography(contact A-scan),and the IOLMaster were used to preoperatively measure the AL in 102 eyes from 102 patients who underwent phacoemulsification and IOL *** were divided into two groups according to the AL:one containing patients with22 mm≤ALyimmersion Bscan(23.48±1.15)didn’t differ significantly from those measured by the IOLMaster(23.52±1.17)or from those by contact A-scan(23.38±1.20).In the same group,the standard deviation(SD)of the mean error(ME)of immersion B-scan(-0.090±0.397 D)didn’t differ significantly from those of IOLMaster(-0.095±0.411 D)and contact A-scan(-0.099±0.425 D).In group B,ALs measured by immersion B-scan(27.97±2.21 mm)didn’t differ significantly from those of the IOLMaster(27.86±2.18 mm),but longer than those measured by Contact A-scan(27.75±2.23 mm,P=0.009).In the same group,the standard deviation(SD)of the mean error(ME)of immersion B-scan(-0.635±0.157 D)didn’t differ significantly from those of the IOLMaster(-0.679±0.359 D),but differed significantly from those of contact A-scan(-0.953±1.713 D,P=0.028).CONCLUSION:ImmersionB-scanexhibitsmeasurement accuracy comparable to that of the IOLMaster,and is thus a good alternative in measuring AL in eyes with high myopia when the IOLMaster can’t be used,and it is more accurate than the contact A-scan.

This paper investigates the sloshing phenomena in a spherical liquid tank using the moving particle semi-implicit(MPS)method,a crucial study in fluid *** from previous research focused on rectangular or LNG tanks,this work explores the unique motion patterns inherent to spherical *** accuracy of our in-house MPS solver MLParticle-SJTU is validated against experimental data and finite volume method(FVM).And the MPS method reveals a closer alignment with experimental outcomes,which suggests that MPS method is particularly effective for modeling complex,non-linear fluid *** the fluid’s response to excitation at its natural frequency is simulated,showcasing vigorous sloshing and rotational *** analyses of the fluid motion are conducted by drawing streamline diagrams,velocity vector diagrams,and vorticity *** fluid’s motion response is explored using both time-domain and frequency-domain curves of the fluid centroid,as well as the sloshing force.

Retinitis pigmentosa（RP）is a group of heterogeneous inherited retinal diseases that is characterized by primary death rod photoreceptors and the secondary loss of *** degeneration of cones causes gradual constriction of visual fields,leaving the central islands that are eventually snuffed *** indicate that the hyperoxia causes oxidative damage in the retina and contributes to the cone death of ***,abundant reactive oxidative species（ROS）which are generated in cones may result in mitochondria membrane depolarization,which has been ascribed a central role in the apoptotic process and has been proposed to act as a forward feeding loop for the activation of downstream *** is a potent antioxidant which has been evidenced to be able to counteract oxidative damages,scavenge surplus ROS,and rectify abnormities in the apoptotic *** together with its ability to attenuate inflammation which also contributes to the etiology of RP,it is reasonable to hypothesize that the anthocyanin could act as a novel therapeutic strategy to retard or prevent cone degeneration in RP retinas,particularly if the treatment is timed appropriately and delivered *** pharmacological investigations will identify the anthocyanin as an effective candidate for PR therapy and refinements of that knowledge would ignite the hope of restoring the visual function in RP patients.
