Risk of asthma in preterm infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia: a systematic review and meta‑analysis

Background This study aimed to systematically review and meta-analyze the available literature on the association between preterm infant bronchopulmonary dysplasia(BPD)and pre-adulthood *** Studies examining the association between BPD and asthma in children and adolescents were systematically reviewed,and a meta-analysis was *** searched Scopus,Embase,Web of Science,PubMed,and Cochrane Library from the database inception to March 26,*** pooled odds ratio(OR)estimate was used in our meta-analysis to calculate the correlation between BPD and the probability of developing asthma before *** 12.0 was used to conduct the statistical *** The correlation between asthma and BPD in preterm newborns was examined in nine *** used a random effect model to pool the OR *** results indicated a marked increase in the risk of subsequent asthma in preterm infants with BPD[OR=1.73,95% confidence interval(CI)=1.43-2.09].Moreover,there was no obvious heterogeneity across the studies(P=0.617,I^(2)=0%).The pooled OR remained stable and ranged from 1.65(95%CI=1.35-2.01)to 1.78(95%CI=1.43-2.21).Regarding publication bias,the funnel plot for asthma risk did not reveal any noticeable *** further performed Begg’s and Egger’s tests to quantitatively evaluate publication *** was no evidence of a publication bias for asthma risk(P>|Z|=0.602 for Begg’s test,and P>|t|=0.991 for Egger’s test).Conclusions Our findings indicate that preterm infants with BPD have a much higher risk of developing asthma in the future(OR=1.73,95%CI=1.43-2.09).Preterm infants with BPD may benefit from long-term follow-up.

AIM:To investigate the therapeutic effects of hydrogel dressings on neurotrophic keratitis in ***:Male Wistar rats,aged 42–56d,were randomly divided into control,experimental,and treatment groups,each consisting of five *** experimental and treatment groups underwent neurotrophic keratitis modeling in both *** successful modeling,biomedical hydrogels formed with polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl pyrrolidone were used in treatment group for *** irritation response and keratitis index scores,Schirmer’s test,tear film break-up time(BUT),sodium fluorescein staining,and hematoxylin and eosin(HE)staining were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the ***:The neurotrophic keratitis model was successfully established in rats with severe ophthalmic nerve injury,characterized by keratitis,ocular irritation,reduced tear secretion measured by decreased BUT and Schirmer test values,corneal epithelial loss,and disorganized collagen fibers in the stromal *** treatment with hydrogel dressings,significant improvements were observed in keratitis scores and ocular irritation symptoms in model *** the recovery of tear secretion,as measured by the Schirmer’s test,did not show statistical differences,BUT was significantly *** staining confirmed a reduction in the extent of corneal epithelial loss after *** staining revealed the restoration of the structural disorder in both the epithelial and stromal layers to a certain ***:Hydrogel dressing reduces ocular surface irritation,improves tear film stability,and promotes the repair and restoration of damaged epithelial cells by maintaining a moist and clean environment on the ocular surface in the rat model.

It is essential to intensify research on the strike-slip tectonic system in West and Central Africa to better understand regional tectonic evolution and achieve future breakthroughs in oil and gas *** on the structural interpretation of extensive seismic data and stratigraphic paleontological analysis of more than 50 wells, this study investigated the tectonic history, sedimentary filling, and evolution of the rift basins in the West and Central Africa, and identified a novel type of intraplate strike-slip tectonic system. It exhibits the following characteristics:(i) the strike-slip tectonic system in the West and Central Africa consists of the Central African Shear Zone(CASZ) and two rift branches, manifesting as an N-shape;(ii) most of basins and rifts are characterized by rapid subsidence at one end and substantial sedimentary thickness;(iii) two types of strike-slip basins are developed, namely the transform-normal extensional basin(TEB) along CASZ and the strike-slip-induced extensional basin(SEB) at each end of CASZ;(iv) two types of basins display their own temporal and spatial evolution history. TEBs underwent two rifting stages during the Early and Late Cretaceous, with a strong inversion at the end of the Late Cretaceous. SEBs experienced three rifting stages, i.e., the Early Cretaceous, Late Cretaceous, and Paleogene, with a weak inversion; and(v) this strike-slip tectonic system was formed under intraplate divergent field, indicating a new type of system. This discovery enhances understanding of the breakup of Gondwana and provides valuable guidance for future oil and gas exploration.

Silencing XIST inhibited RTEC pyroptosis by inhibiting NLRP3/caspase-1. Mechanistically,XIST sponged miR-15b-5p to regulate TLR4. Silencing XIST inhibited TLR4 by promotingmiR-15b-5p. miR-15b-5p inhibition or TLR4 overexpression averted the inhibitory effect ofsilencing XIST on HG-induced RTEC *** XIST inhibits TLR4 by upregulating miR-15b-5p and ultimately inhibits renal injury inDN by inhibiting NLRP3/caspase-1-mediated RTEC pyroptosis.

To improve the resilience of railway stations,a typical station was selected as the research object,and an isolation design was ***-four groups of near-fault pulse-like ground motions were *** seismic resilience of the no-isolation railway stations(NIRS)and the isolation railway stations(IRS)were compared to provide a numerical result of the improvement in *** results show that in the station isolation design,the station's functional requirements and structural characteristics should be considered and the appropriate placement of isolation bearings is under the waiting *** the action of a rare earthquake,the repair cost,repair time,rate of harm and death of the IRS were decreased by 8.04 million,18.30 days,6.93×10^(-3)and 1.21×10^(-3),respectively,when compared to the *** IRS received a seismic resilience grade of three-stars and the NIRS only one-star,indicating that rational isolation design improves the seismic resilience of ***,for the design of stations close to earthquake faults,it is suggested to utilize appropriate isolation techniques to improve their seismic resilience.

Rab5 is a GTPase protein that is involved in intracellular membrane trafficking. It functions by binding to various effector proteins and regulating cellular responses, including the formation of transport vesicles and their fusion with the cellular membrane. Rab5 has been reported to play an important role in the development of the zebrafish embryo;however, its role in axonal regeneration in the central nervous system remains unclear. In this study, we established a zebrafish Mauthner cell model of axonal injury using single-cell electroporation and two-photon axotomy techniques. We found that overexpression of Rab5 in single Mauthner cells promoted marked axonal regeneration and increased the number of intra-axonal transport vesicles. In contrast, treatment of zebrafish larvae with the Rab kinase inhibitor CID-1067700markedly inhibited axonal regeneration in Mauthner cells. We also found that Rab5 activated phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K) during axonal repair of Mauthner cells and promoted the recovery of zebrafish locomotor function. Additionally, rapamycin, an inhibitor of the mechanistic target of rapamycin downstream of PI3K, markedly hindered axonal regeneration. These findings suggest that Rab5 promotes the axonal regeneration of injured zebrafish Mauthner cells by activating the PI3K signaling pathway.
