Investigations on structural safety of Office Room Based on Fire simulation and Transient Heat Transfer Analysis

This study aims at investigating heat propagations inside the structural members due to fire us.ng fire simulation and transient heat transfer analysis. Toward that goal, fire simulation and transient heat transfer analysis for a 5-story building are carried out sequentially us.ng Fire Dynamics simulator (FDs) and ABAQUs 6.10-3, respectively. As results from fire simulation, temporal temperature information is obtained depending on various locations of the building, which is used as boundary condition for the structural elements generated in transient heat transfer analysis. Predictions from the transient heat transfer analysis show that the structural members are exposed spatially non-uniform temperatures which can cause significant eccentric deformation and aceleration of structural damages.

Comparison of the rheological properties of four root canal sealers

The flowability of a root canal sealer is clinically important because it improves the penetration of the sealer into the complex root canal system. The purpose of this study was to compare the flowabilities of four root canal sealers, measured us.ng the simple press method （IsO 6876）, and their viscosities, measured us.ng a strain-controlled rheometer. A newly developed, calcium phosphate-based root canal sealer （Capseal） and three commercial root canal sealers （ah Plus, sealapex and Pulp Canal sealer EWT） were used in this study. The flowabilities of the four root canal sealers were measured us.ng the simple press method （n= 5） and their viscosities were measured us.ng a strain-controlled rheometer （n=5）. The correlation between these two values was statistically analysed us.ng spearman＇s correlation test. The flow diameters and the viscosities of the root canal sealers were strongly negatively correlated （p= -0.8618）. The viscosity of Pulp Canal sealer EWT was the lowest and increased in the following order： ah Plus〈sealapex〈Capseal （P〈0.05）. All of the tested root canal sealers showed characteristic time- and temperature-dependent changes in their rheological properties. The viscosities measured us.ng the strain-controlled rheometer were more precise than the flowabilities measured us.ng the simple press method, suggesting that the rheometer can accurately measure the rheological properties of root canal sealers.

Background:Prenatal maternal diet may influence disease susceptibility in offspring with specific genetic *** hypothesized that interactions between prenatal antioxidant intake and polymorphisms in immunity genes influence respiratory tract infection (RTI) susceptibility in infants at 12 months of ***:This study included 550 *** the Cohort for Childhood Origin of Asthma and Allergic Diseases (COCOA) birth cohort study,prenatal maternal diet was assessed by administering a food frequency ***' cord blood was genotyped for CD14 (rs2569190),TLR4 (rs1927911),and GsDMB (rs4794820) polymorphisms by the TaqMan ***:Higher prenatal intake of total fruit and vegetables (FV) was associated with the decreased risk of RTI in offspring (P-trend=0.0430).In children with TT genotype at rs2569190,a higher prenatal intake of vitamins A and C,fruits,and total FV decreased RTI risk (P-trend s with TC+CC genotype,a higher prenatal intake of fruit increased RTI risk (P-trend ng the 3 genotypes,children with TT genotype at rs2569190 were more protected against RTIs compared with those with CC genotype with respect to vitamin C and fruits [odds ratio (OR)=5.04 and OR=10.30,respectively].In children with CC genotype at rs1927911,RTI risk showed a dose-response association with a higher prenatal intake of vitamin C (P for interactions and total FV reduced RTI risk in infants with GA+AA genotype of rs4794820 (P for interactionsion:Prenatal antioxidant intake may reduce RTI risk in infants and this relationship may be modified by CD14,TLR4,and GsDMB polymorphisms.

Regulation of Nitric Oxide by Cigarette smoke in Airway Cells

Background and Objectives: Exhaled nitric oxide (NO) is decreased by smoking while oxides of nitrogen such as nitrites/nitrates (NOx) are increased. It was hypothesised that in vitro cigarette smoke extract (CsE) would either inhibit NO generation by increas.ng the NO synthase inhibitor, ng, ng-dimethyl-L-arginine (ADMA) or increase NOx levels via an oxidation pathway, which in turn could be inhibited by the antioxidant N-acetylcysteine NAC. Methods: Transformed airway cells (A549) were cultured with control medium, 1.0% CsE in culture medium, or 0.8 mM NAC with 1.0% CsE. Baseline L-arginine, NOx and ADMA levels were measured in the media. Conditioned media were then sampled at 1hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours after incubation. Results: CsE induced significantly higher NOx levels (mean (sD) peak increase of 135.8 (126.6)% after incubation for 6 hours (p x which was partially reversed by NAC pre-treatment. ADMA levels were also increased after CsE exposure, suggesting that it activates the NO pathway via oxidative-stress while inhibition probably occurs via both ADMA and NOs.

The Effects of sleep Deprivation on the Biophysical Properties of Facial skin

Lack of sleep is a problem in today’s society, and many people are concerned about changes in their outward appearance due to lack of sleep. People generally come up with some noticeable skin attributes as symptoms of sleep deficiency including rough, dull, and dry skin as well as droopy eyelids and dark eye circles. several previous reports also suggested that poor sleep could affect the skin condition. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of one night of sleep deprivation on various skin biophysical properties. Twenty four healthy females participated in a study of one night of sleep deprivation. subjects were kept awake for one night in a laboratory with controlled temperature and relative humidity. The skin condition of each subject was evaluated after normal sleep pattern and after one night of sleep deprivation. The measured skin biophysical parameters included transepidermal water loss, facial pore size, and skin tone, hydration, elasticity, desquamation, translucency, and blood flow. The cheek, eye, and lip areas were evaluated. After one night of sleep deprivation, multiple skin biophysical parameters showed changes when compared to the baseline measurements. A significant decrease in skin hydration and impaired barrier function were observed (p sed hydration led to decreased skin elasticity and translucency and increased skin scaling (p s were more conspicuous, and skin lightness decreased significantly (p skin blood flow decreased prominently (p sults demonstrated that the skin features that are recognized as symptoms of sleep deficiency actually showed remarkable differences after a period of sleep deprivation, and some of these features were confirmed in the eye, lip, as well as the cheek areas. This study revealed a significant association between sleep deprivation and skin biophysical properties by scientific measuring.

Angiotensin II (Ang II) is the main mediator of the Renin-Angiotensin-system acting on ATsub>1sub> and other AT receptors. It is regarded as a pleiotropic agent that induces many actions, including functioning as a growth factor, and as a contractile hormone, among others. The aim of this work was to examine the impact of Ang II on the expression and function of αsub>1sub>-adrenergic receptors (αsub>1sub>-ARs) in cultured rat aorta, and aorta-derived smooth muscle cells. Isolated Wistar rat aorta was incubated for 24 h in DMEM at 37˚C, then subjected to isometric tension and to the action of added norepinephrine, in concentration-response curves. Ang II was added (1 × 10sup>−5sup> M), and in some experiments, 5-Methylurapidil (αsub>1Asub>-AR antagonist), ah11110A (αsub>1Bsub>-AR antagonist), or BMY-7378 (αsub>1Dsub>-AR antagonist), were used to identify the αsub>1sub>-AR involved in the response. Desensitization of the contractile response to norepinephrine was observed due to incubation time, and by the Ang II action. αsub>1Dsub>-AR was protected from desensitization by BMY-7378;while Rs-100329 and prazosin partially mitigated desensitization. In another set of experiments, isolated aorta-derived smooth muscle cells were exposed to Ang II and αsub>1sub>-ARs proteins were evaluated. αsub>1Dsub>-AR increased at 30 and 60 min post Ang II exposure, the αsub>1Asub>-AR diminished from 1 to 4 h, while αsub>1Bsub>-AR remained unchanged over 24 h of Ang II exposure. Ang II induced an increase of αsub>1Dsub>-AR at short times, and BMY-7378 protected αsub>1Dsub>-AR from desensitization.
