High temperature solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC)is the most efficient and clean energy conversion technology to electrochemically convert the chemical energy of fuels such as hydrogen,natural gas and hydrocarbons to electricity,and also the most viable alternative to the traditional thermal power ***,the power output of a SOFC critically depends on the characteristics and performance of its key components:anode,electrolyte and *** to the highly reducing environment and strict requirements in electrical conductivity and catalytic activity,there are limited choices in the anode materials of SOFCs,particularly for operation in the intermediate temperature range of 500–800*** them,Ni-based cermets are the most common and popular anode materials of *** objective of this paper is to review the development of Ni-based anode materials in SOFC from the viewpoints of materials microstructure,performance and industrial scalability associated with the fabrication and optimization *** latest advancement in nano-structure architecture,contaminant tolerance and interface optimization of Ni-based cermet anodes is *** at the end of this paper,we propose and appeal for the collaborative work of scientists from different disciplines that enable the inter-fusion research of fabrication,microanalysis and modelling,aiming at the challenges in the development of Ni-based cermet anodes for commercially viable intermediate temperature SOFC or IT-SOFC technologies.

High-throughput Three-dimensional Gel Electrophoresis for Versatile Utilities: A Stacked Slice-gel System for Separation and Reactions (4SR)

A novel high-throughput system, called the stacked slice-gel system for separation and reactions （4SR）, was developed for the analysis of DNA/RNA and protein/peptide. The system provides a novel three-dimensional gel electrophoresis approach that exploits the property of stacked slice gels. It allows multiple samples simultaneously to react as well as to be separated, offering a two-dimensional （m×n） sample loading system. For this purpose, high-throughput multi-micro vessels （MMVs） containing variable numbers of wells （100 wells in this paper） have been used, which are made of 25 mm square-size polyacrylamide gels. Furthermore, after electrophoretic separation, a slice gel containing a desired sample can be easily removed and proceeded to the next step. Different biological reactions as well as successive separation of products were effectively carried out dealing with DNA/RNA and protein/peptide. It shows that this system has a diversity of potentials to be developed.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the fifth most common neoplasm worldwide and the third most common cause of cancer-related *** transplantation(LT),which offers the theoretical advantage of removing both the tumor and the organ that are at risk of developing future malignancy,is an established therapy for HCC in patients with liver cirrhosis.A shortage of cadaveric organs for transplantation continues to impair our ability to provide LT despite progress in surgical techniques and ***,it is important to allocate the deceased donor livers with excellent results,and to ensure reasonable outcome for living donors who need to undergo invasive surgery.

Thermoelectric performance enhancement of(BiS)1.2(TiS2)2 misfit layer sulfide by chromium doping

A misfit layer sulfide(BiS)_(1.2)(TiS_(2))_(2) with a natural superlattice structure has been shown to be a promising thermoelectric material,but its high carrier concentration should be reduced so as to further optimize the thermoelectric ***,ordinary acceptor doping has not succeeded because of the non-parabolic band *** this paper,we have successfully doped chromium ions into the Ti sites,which can maintain or even enhance the high effective mass of electrons so as to effectively improve ZT value.X-ray diffraction analysis,coupled with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,shows that chromium has been substituted into titanium sites in TiS2 layers and confirms its ionic *** chromium doping has successfully reduced the carrier concentration with the subsequent reduction of electrical *** other acceptor dopants(alkaline earth metals),chromium also enhances Seebeck coefficient and the effective mass,which can possibly be attributed to the formation of additional resonant states near Fermi *** the power factor does not improve,the significant reduction in the electronic part of the thermal conductivity leads to a measurable improvement in ZT.

Applicability of the Arrhenius model for Ammonia Oxidizing Bacteria subjected to temperature time gradients

The aim of this work is to identify the range of applicability of Arrhenius type temperature dependence for Ammonia Oxidizing Bacteria （AOB） subjected to tem- perature time gradients through continuous titrimetric tests. An innovative online differential titrimetric technique was used to continuously monitor the maximum biologic ammonia oxidation rate of the biomass selected in a pilot scale membrane bioreactor, as a function of temperature time gradients. The monitoring technique is based on the measurement of alkalinity and hydrogen peroxide con- sumption rates in two parallel reactors operated in non- limiting substrate conditions for AOB; both reactors were continuously fed with mixed liquor and in one of them AOB were inhibited with allylthiourea. The effects of temperature decrease rates in the range 1 to 4℃h^-1 were evaluated by controlling the titrimetric reactor in the temperature range 10℃-20℃. The dependence of growth kinetics on temperature time gradients and the range of applicability of Arrhenius model for temperature depen- dency of AOB growth kinetics were assessed. The Arrhenius model was found to be accurate only with temperature gradients lower than 2℃·h^-1. The estimated Arrhenius coefficients （θ） were shown to increase from 1.07 to 1.6 when the temperature decrease rate reached 4℃.h^-1.

Novel concept of endoscopic device delivery station system for rapid and tight attachment of polyglycolic acid sheet

AIM To evaluate appropriate and rapid polyglycolic acid sheet(PGAs) covering time using device delivery station system(DDSS).METHODS This pilot basic study was conducted to evaluate the potential of accurate and rapid PGAs delivery using DDSS. Three 11-month-old female Beagle dogs were used in this study. Two endoscopic submucosal dissections(ESDs) 4 cm in diameter were performed in lesser curvature of middle gastric body and greater curvature of antrum(total 6 ESDs performed). DDSS(3 cm length, 12 mm in outer diameter) has 2 chambers which 16 cm^2 large 2 PGAs were stored, and DDSS was attached post ESD ulcers, respectively. Beriplast P?(CSL Behring K.K., Tokyo, Japan)(combination of fibringlue and thrombin) was applied equally to the artificial ulcer, and tight attachment of 2 PGAs with DDSS were completed. The evaluation items were covering times, post ESD bleeding and perforation during *** The covering time of PGAs(defined as the duration from the beginning of endoscope insertion into the mouth to the end of the fibrin glue coating process) was 6.07(4.86-8.29) min. There was no postESD bleeding(1-7 d after ESD), and there was no perforation during *** DDSS was very useful for rapid delivering and tight attachment of PGAs, and has potentials of multipurpose delivery station system.

Usefulness of intraoperative Indocyanine green video angiography to select the recipient artery for bypass surgery in arteriosclerotic occlusion of the middle cerebral artery: a technical case report

Background: In superficial temporal artery-to-middle cerebral artery (STA-MCA) bypass surgery, indocyanine green video angiography (ICG-VA) is usually used to verify bypass patency. Less-commonly reported is the ability to use this technique to evaluate candidate recipient vessels based on either collateral flow or identification of the distal branch of interest. Case presentation: An 82-year-old man presented with progressive cerebral infarction due to infarction of the M2 inferior trunk of the right middle cerebral artery. He underwent superficial temporal artery-middle cerebral artery bypass to prevent further ischemia 1 week after the initial stroke. In the surgery, M4 cortical arteries fed by the inferior trunk could not be identified as recipient arteries. Intraoperative ICG-VA showed delayed luminescence of some M4 arteries. Because the M4 arteries fed by the inferior trunk showed delayed retrograde flows from the anterior cerebral artery on preoperative digital subtraction angiography, the M4 arteries with delayed luminescence on ICG-VA were considered to be M4 arteries fed by the inferior trunk and selected as the recipient arteries. Conclusions: ICG-VA shows differences in flow speed as delayed luminescence. This finding may be useful for detecting target vessels.

Simulation of a Daily Precipitation Time Series Using a Stochastic Model with Filtering

After we modified raw data for anomalies, we conducted spectral analysis using the data. In the frequency, the spectrum is best described by a decaying exponential function. For this reason, stochastic models characterized by a spectrum attenuated according to a power law cannot be used to model precipitation anomaly. We introduced a new model, the e-model, which properly reproduces the spectrum of the precipitation anomaly. After using the data to infer the parameter values of the e-model, we used the e-model to generate synthetic daily precipitation time series. Comparison with recorded data shows a good agreement. This e-model resembles fractional Brown motion (fBm)/fractional Lévy motion (fLm), especially the spectral method. That is, we transform white noise Xt to the precipitation daily time series. Our analyses show that the frequency of extreme precipitation events is best described by a Lévy law and cannot be accounted with a Gaussian distribution.

BACKGROUND McCune–Albright syndrome(MAS)is caused by postzygotic somatic mutations of the GNAS *** is characterized by the clinical triad of fibrous dysplasia,caféau-lait skin spots,and endocrinological *** complications in MAS,including hepatobiliary manifestations,are also *** SUMMARY This is a case of a 4-year-old boy who presented with MAS with neonatal *** was suspected to have Alagille syndrome due to neonatal cholestasis with intrahepatic bile duct paucity in liver biopsy,peripheral pulmonary artery stenosis,and renal tubular *** the age of 2 years,his cholestatic liver injury gradually improved,but he had repeated left femoral *** did not exhibit endocrinological abnormality or café-au-lait skin ***,MAS was suspected due to fibrous dysplasia at the age of 4 *** mutation was identified in the GNAS gene in the DNA isolated from the peripheral blood,but an activating point mutation(c.601C>T,***201Cys)was observed in the DNA extracted from the affected bone tissue and that extracted from the formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded liver tissue,which was obtained at the age of 1 *** MAS should be considered as a differential diagnosis for transient cholestasis in infancy.
