Characteristics of the magnetic-island-induced ion temperature gradient （MITG） mode are studied through gyrofluid simulations in the slab geometry, focusing on the effects of Landau damping, equilibrium magnetic shear （EMS）, and pressure flattening. It is shown that the magnetic island may enhance the Landau damping of the system by inducing the radial magnetic field. Moreover, the radial eigenmode numbers of most MITG poloidal harmonics are increased by the magnetic island so that the MITG mode is destabilized in the low EMS regime. In addition, the pressure profile flattening effect inside a magnetic island hardly affects the growth of the whole MITG mode, while it has different local effects near the O-point and the X-point regions. In comparison with the non-zero-order perturbations, only the quasi-linear flattening effect due to the zonal pressure is the effective component to impact the growth rate of the mode.

AT-rich interactive domain 5a (Arid5a) is a member of the arid family of proteins, which contain a helix-turn-helix domain and an ability to bind to nucleic acids. Current evidence suggests that Arid5a performs dual functions as a transcription factor and an RNA-binding protein in immune, nonimmune, and/ or tumor cells depending on its cellular localization. The contribution of Arid5a to the development of inflammation, autoimmunity, and obesity through its transcriptional and posttranscriptional regulatory functions has broadly been reviewed. Recent studies have indeed revealed an association of Arid5a with cancers, including breast, pancreatic, colorectal, and lung cancers and glioma. Notably, Arid5a affects various aspects of cellular homeostasis, including invasion, metastasis, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, immune evasion, adipogenesis and M1-like tumor-associated macrophage (TAM)-to-M2-like TAM transition. This review aims to summarize current knowledge of Arid5a from a cancer perspective and highlights recent advances in Arid5a-related cancer research. This review may improve the understanding of Arid5a-mediated molecular mechanisms and their relevance to cancers.

Effect of microstructure on outer surface roughening of magnesium alloy tubes in die-less mandrel drawing

The crystal orientation and outer surface roughening of magnesium alloy tubes were evaluated to clarify the effect of the mandrel on the microstructure and outer surface roughness in die-less mandrel drawing. Locally heated ZM21 tubes with an outer diameter of 6.0 mm and an inner diameter of 3.8 mm were drawn with and without a mandrel. The outer surface roughness and crystal orientation were evaluated in the same measurement area. The results indicated that the outer surface becomes rougher in the die-less mandrel drawing than in die-less drawing for a given outer circumferential strain. The outer surface roughness developed when there was large difference in the pyramidal slip system Schmid factor. Therefore, the slip deformation of the pyramidal slip system seems to be mainly responsible for the outer surface roughening in the die-less mandrel drawing. Furthermore, the crystal grain with the {2110} crystal plane vertical to the normal direction of outer surface had a larger Schmid factor than the other crystal grains. The large number of crystal grains with the {2110} crystal plane in the die-less mandrel drawing is one of the reasons that the outer surface roughness develops more in the die-less mandrel drawing than in die-less drawing for a given outer circumferential strain. These results will contribute significantly to the development of fabrication process of the microtube with high surface quality, which prevents rapid corrosion of biomedical applications.

Wave-number spectral characteristics of drift wave micro-turbulence with large-scale structures （LSSs） including zonal flows （ZFs） and Kelvin-Holmheltz （KH） mode are investigated based on three dimensional gyrofluid simulations in a slab geometry. The focus is on the property of the wave-number spectral scaling law of the ambient turbulence under the back reaction of the self-generated LSSs. A comparison of the spectral scaling laws between ion/electron temperature gradient （ITG/ETG） driven turbulences is presented. It is shown that the spectral scaling of the ITG turbulence with robust ZFs is fitted well by an exponential-law function （Φ^2/2）E∝e^-λkx in kx and a power-law one in （Φ^2/2）p∝ky^-β in ky. However, the ETG turbulence is characterized by a mixing Kolmogorov-like power-law and exponential-law （Φ^2/2）E∝e-λkx＇yk^-3x,y/（1 ＋ k^2x,y）^2 scaling for both kx and ky spectra due to the ZFs and KH mode dynamics, with λ and β the slope index factors. The underlying physical mechanism is understood as the spectral scattering caused by the back-reaction of the LSSs on the ambient turbulence. These findings may provide helpful guideline to diagnose the plasma fluctuations and flow structures in experiments.

This paper proposes a double Markov model of the double continuous auction for describing intra-day price changes. The model splits intra-day price changes as the repetition of one tick price moves and assumes order arrivals are independent Poisson random processes. The dynamic process of price formation is described by a birth-death process of the double M/M/1 server queue corresponding to the best bid/ask. The initial depths of the best bid and ask are defined as different constants depending on the last price change. Thus, the price changes in the model follow a first-order Markov process. As the initial depth of the best bid/ask is originally larger than that of the opposite side when the last price is down/up, the model may explain the negative autocorrelations of the price of the best bid/ask. The estimated parameters are based on the real tick-by-tick data of the Nikkei 225 futures listed in Osaka Stock Exchanges. The authors find the model accurately predicts the returns of Osaka Stock Exchange average.

One purpose of this paper is to give a brief overview on the research status of deformation,fracture and toughening mechanisms of polymers,including experimental,theoretical and numerical *** is on the more recent progresses of micromechanics of rubber particle cavitation and crazing,and the de- velopment of fracture criteria for ductile polymers. The other purpose is to study the effect of triaxial stress constraint on the deforma- tion and fracture behavior of ***(PC),acrylonitrile-butadiene- styrene(ABS)and PC/ABS alloy are considered in this investigation.A series of circumferentially blunt-notched bars are used to experimentally generate different tri- axial stress *** fracture surfaces of specimens with different notch radius are examined by scanning electron microscope(SEM)to study the fracture and tough- ening mechanisms of polymer *** is shown that the triaxial stress constraint has a significant effect on the deformation,fracture and toughening of PC,ABS and PC/ABS *** will also discuss the extent to which a micromechanies criterion proposed by the first author can serve as a fracture criterion for ductile polymers. A new ductile fracture parameter is emphasized,which can be employed to evaluate the fracture ductility of *** state independence of the parameter for the PC,ABS and PC/ABS alloy has been experimentally verified.

Hexarelin, a synthetic growth hormone-releasing peptide, can bind to and activate the growth hormone secretagogue receptor （GHSR） in the brain similar to its natural analog ghrelin. However, the peripheral distribution of GHSR in the heart and blood vessels suggests that hexarelin might have direct cardiovascular actions beyond growth hormone release and neuroendocrine effects. Furthermore, the non-GHSR CD36 had been demonstrated to be a specific cardiac receptor for hexarelin and to mediate its cardioprotective effects. When compared with ghrelin, hexarelin is chemically more stable and functionally more potent. Therefore, it may be a promising therapeutic agent for some car-diovascular conditions. In this concise review, we discuss the current evidence for the cardiovascular action of hexarelin.

Low cycle fatigue crack propagation (FCP) behavior of two PC/ABSblends with a weight ra- tio of PC to ABS being 80/20 and 60/40,respectively, is investigated. Experiments are carried out by usingstandard compact tension (CT) specimens. The fracture surfaces areexamined with a scanning electron mi- croscope (SEM). It is shownthat the FCP resistance of PC/ABS blend with 20/100 ABS particles ishigher than that of PC/ABS blend with 40/100 ABS particles. It isfound that proper ABS particle content can result in the tougheningof PC/ABS blends through particle cavitation and shear yielding inmatrix.

An improved three-field gyrofluid model is proposed to numerically simulate ion-scale turbulence in tokamak plasmas,which includes the nonlinear evolution of perturbed electrostatic potential,parallel ion velocity and ion pressure with adiabatic electron *** is benchmarked through advancing a gyrofluid toroidal global(GFT G)code as well as the local version(GFT L),with the emphasis of the collisionless damping of zonal *** nonlinear equations are solved by using Fourier decomposition in poloidal and toroidal directions and semi-implicit finite difference method along radial *** numerical implementation is briefly explained,especially on the periodic boundary condition in GFT L *** a numerical test and also practical application,the nonlinear excitation of geodesic acoustic mode(GAM),as well as its radial structure,is investigated in tokamak plasma turbulence.
