Hematological profile of COVID-19 infected children before and after the spread of the Omicron variant in Istanbul

Objective:To examine the effect of the COVID-19 virus,especially the Omicron variant,on hematological parameters of hospitalized pediatric patients during the COVID-19 ***:Medical records of pediatric COVID-19 patients hospitalized at Kartal Dr.Lütfi K?rdar City Hospital in Istanbul,Turkey,between March 2020 and May 2022 were retrospectively reviewed to analyze data regarding demographics,SARS-Co V-2 infection polymerase chain reaction(PCR)test results,reversetranscriptase(RT)-PCR for other respiratory agents,duration of hospital stay,and hematological and biochemical laboratory ***:Out of 467 children with a confirmed diagnosis of SARSCo V-2 infection,94(20.1%)had Omicron infection and 373(79.9%)were infected with other variants;the Omicron group had younger patients than the remaining samples(Pnt clinical symptoms in all children were cough(53.5%)and fever(32.3%),followed by vomiting(20.8%).Lung involvement in the Omicron group(10.6%)was significantly lower than in the remaining samples(29.8%)(Pn and lymphocyte levels were lower in the Omicron-infected group(both Pn time,activated partial thromboplastin time,international normalized ratio,and D-dimer levels were significantly higher in this group(Pnd P=0.023,respectively).In terms of lung involvement,those with lung involvement were significantly older(Pnclusions:Although lung involvement was less common with Omicron infection,this group had greater hematological system involvement,such as anemia,lymphopenia,D-dimer elevation,and coagulation disorders.

Objective:To examine the effects of human bocavirus type 1(HBoV1)on the course of lower respiratory tract infections in cases of monoinfection and coinfection,and the effects of HBoV1 viral load on the disease in children under six years old hospitalized with a diagnosis of HBoV1-associated lower respiratory tract ***:Children under six years of age,who were hospitalized with the diagnosis of lower respiratory tract infection due to HBoV1 between 1 January 2021 and 1 January 2022 were included in the *** confirmation of the respiratory pathogens was performed using polymerase chain reaction(PCR).Results:Fifty-four(16.4%)children with HBoV1 among 329 children whose PCR was positive with bacterial/viral agent in nasopharyngeal swab samples were included in the *** were 28(51.9%)males and 26(48.1%)females with a median age 23.4 months[interquartile range(IQR):13.2,30.0 months](min-max:1 month-68 months).HBoV1 was detected as a monoinfecton in 26(48.1%)children,and as a coinfection with other respiratory agents in 28 children(51.9%).In multiple regression analysis,coinfection(P=0.032)was associated with the length of hospitalization(Pnegative correlation(r=−0.281,P=0.040)between cough and cycle *** was found to be positively correlated with C-reactive protein(r=0.568,Pnd procalcitonin(r=0.472;P=0.001).Conclusions:Although we found a higher HBoV1 viral load in children with more cough symptoms in our study,it had no effect on the severity of the disease,such as length of hospital stay and need for intensive *** was found to affect the length of hospitalization.

Gaussian Kernel Based SVR Model for Short-Term Photovoltaic MPP Power Prediction

Removal of heavy metals from aqueous solution by sawdust adsorption

The adsorption of lead, cadmium and nicel from aqueous solution by sawdust of walnut was investigated. The effect of contact time, initial metal ion concentration and temperature on metal ions removal has been studied. The equilibrium time was found to be of the order of 60 min. Kinetics fit pseudo first-order, second-order and intraparticle diffusion models, hence adsorption rate constants were calculated. The adsorption data of metal ions at temperatures of 25, 45 and 60~C have been described by the Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models. The thermodynamic parameters such as energy, entropy and enthalpy changes for the adsorption of heavy metal ions have also been computed and discussed. Ion exchange is probably one of the major adsorption mechanisms for binding divalent metal ions to the walnut sawdust. The selectivity order of the adsorbent is Pb（I1）~Cd（II）〉ni（I1）. From these results, it can be concluded that the sawdust of walnut could be a good adsorbent for the metal ions from aqueous solutions.

Performance of Lung Cancer Prediction Methods Using Different Classification Algorithms

In 2018,1.76 million people worldwide died of lung *** of these deaths are due to late diagnosis,and early-stage diagnosis significantly increases the likelihood of a successful treatment for lung *** learning is a branch of artificial intelligence that allows computers to quickly identify patterns within complex and large datasets by learning from existing ***-learning techniques have been improving rapidly and are increasingly used by medical professionals for the successful classification and diagnosis of early-stage *** are widely used in cancer *** particular,machine learning has been used in the diagnosis of lung cancer due to the benefits it offers doctors and *** this context,we performed a study on machine-learning techniques to increase the classification accuracy of lung cancer with 32×56 sized numerical data from the Machine Learning Repository web site of the University of California,*** this study,the precision of the classification model was increased by the effective employment of pre-processing methods instead of direct use of classification *** datasets were derived with pre-processing methods and six machine-learning classification methods were used to achieve this *** study results suggest that the accuracy of the k-nearest neighbors algorithm is superior to random forest,naïve Bayes,logistic regression,decision tree,and support vector *** performance of pre-processing methods was assessed on the lung cancer *** most successful preprocessing methods were Z-score(83%accuracy)for normalization methods,principal component analysis(87%accuracy)for dimensionality reduction methods,and information gain(71%accuracy)for feature selection methods.

Ab Initio Study on Hypothetical Silver nitride

We perform the ab initio calculations based on norm-conserving pseudopotentials and density functional theory to investigate the structural, elastic, and thermodynamical properties for silver nitride （Agn） compound that is a member of the 4d transition metal group and has not been synthesized yet. The obtained results are compared with the other available theoretical data, and the agreement is, generally, quite good. We also present the pressure-dependent behaviour of some mechanical and thermodynamical properties for the same compounds.

Some Constacyclic Codes over Z4[u]/〈u^2〉, new Gray Maps, and new Quaternary Codes

In this paper, we study λ-constacyclic codes over the ring R = Z4 ＋ uZ4, where u^2 = 0, for λ= 1 ＋ 3u and 3 ＋ u. We introduce two new Gray maps from R to Z4^4 and show that the Gray images of λ-constacyclic codes over R are quasi-cyclic over Z4. Moreover, we present many examples of λ-constacyclic codes over R whose Z4-images have better parameters than the currently best-known linear codes over Z4.

Effectiveness of breathing exercises during the second stage of labor on labor pain and duration： a randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUnD： Some research exists on the effect of non-pharmacological approaches for labor pain relief However, there is limited information about effectiveness of breathing exercises in pregnant women to reduce maternal pain during labor. OBJECTIVE： To determine whether breathing exercises for pregnant women during the second stage of labor have beneficial effects on maternal pain, duration of labor, and the first-minute Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity and Respiration （APGAR） scores. DESIGn, SETTInG, PARTICIPAnTS AnD InTERVEnTIOnS： This randomized clinical trial involved 250 pregnant women, who were randomly divided into two groups： intervention group （IG; n = 125） and control group （CG; n = 125）. IG received one session breathing exercise training and performed breathing exercises during the second stage of labor versus the CG that did not receive any breathing exercise training. MAIn OUTCOME MEASURES： The effects of breathing exercises on maternal pain were determined by Visual Analogue Scale （VAS）, duration of the second stage of labor, and the first-minute APGAR scores. RESULTS： The mean age of the participants was （23.2 _＋ 4.2）（range： 18 to 42） years. Both IG and CG had similar baseline characteristics in terms of age, education level, occupation, and smoking （P 〉 0.05）. The mean VAS scores of IG and CG were （88.2 ＋_ 6.3） and （90.5 ＋_ 7.0）, respectively （P 〈 0.001）. The duration of the second stage of labor was （369.6 ＋ 92.0） s for IG and （440.7 ＋ 142.5） s for CG （P 〈 0.001 ）. The mean first-minute APGAR scores were （8.84 ＋ 0.50） for IG and （8.73 ＋ 0.89） for CG （P 〉 0.05）. COnCLUSIOn： Based on this study, breathing exercises with deep inhalation and exhalation in pregnant women are effective in reducing the perception of labor pain and shortening the duration of the second stage of delivery. First-Principles Calculations on Structure,Elastic and Thermodynamic Properties of Al_2X (X=Sc,Y) under Pressure

To understand deeply the structural, elastic and thermodynamic characteristics of AI2X （X= Sc, Y） compounds in C15 type （space number 227） Cu2Mg structure, we have performed ab-initio density functional theory within the local density approximation （LDA） and the generalized gradient approximation （GGA）. The thermodynamic properties of the considered structures are obtained through the quasi-harmonic Debye model. We have presented the results on the basic physical parameters, such as the lattice constant, bulk modu- lus, pressure derivative of bulk modulus, second-order elastic constants, Zener anisotropy factor, Poissongs ratio, Youngts modulus, and isotropic shear modulus. In order to gain further information, the pressure- and temperature-dependent behaviour of the volume, bulk modulus, thermal expansion coefficient, heat capacity, entropy, Debye temperature and Griineisen parameter were also evaluated over a pressure range of 0-20 GPa for Al2Sc and 0-17 GPa for Al2Y compound and a wide temperature range of 0-2000 K for both compounds. The obtained results were compared with the other reported values.
