The paper embarks to investigate the relationship between currency risk and stock prices of the oil and natural gas exploitation industry in the value-weighted Hushen-300 stock market, by applying the standard Capital Asset Pricing Model （CAPM） and nonlinear exchange rate exposure model to the Renminbi against US dollar. The results show that the currency exposure does vary in the oil-gas stock prices throughout the bull and bear market. The study suggests that the models of the equilibrium exchange rate exposure must be extended to considering the nonlinear exchange rate exposure, the regime periods of bull and bear market, and the industry types that is sensitive to the currency exposures. The nonlinear dynamic relationship between the exchange rate changes and the Chinese energy stock prices throughout the bull and bear market add to the recent empirical evidences that foreign exchange markets and stock markets are closely correlated.

The design and synthesis of new calamitic benzothiazole-based liquid crystals,2-[4-（4-alkyloxybenzoyloxy）-phenyl]ben-zothiazoles are *** target compound was characterized using spectroscopic techniques,such as FT-IR,NMR（~1H and ^（13）C）,microanalysis and *** liquid crystalline behaviours of these compounds were thoroughly examined by differential scanning calorimetry and polarizing optical microscope *** materials exhibited enantiotropic nematic phase with high thermal stability（168℃）.Smectic A phase starts to emerge as monotropic（metastable） phase from C10 member and changes into enantiotropic（stable） phase from C12 and persists up to C16 members.

Protein biomarkers represent specific biological activities and processes, so they have had a critical role in cancer diagnosis and medical care for more than 50 years. With the recent improvement in proteomics technologies, thousands of protein biomarker candidates have been developed for diverse disease states. Studies have used different types of samples for proteomics diagnosis. Samples were pretreated with appropriate techniques to increase the selectivity and sensitivity of the downstream analysis and purified to remove the contaminants. The purified samples were analyzed by several principal proteomics techniques to identify the specific protein. In this study, recent improvements in protein biomarker discovery, verification, and validation are investigated. Furthermore, the advantages, and disadvantages of conventional techniques, are discussed. Studies have used mass spectroscopy (MS) as a critical technique in the identification and quantification of candidate biomarkers. Nevertheless, after protein biomarker discovery, verification and validation have been required to reduce the false-positive rate where there have been higher number of samples. Multiple reaction monitoring (MRM), parallel reaction monitoring (PRM), and selected reaction monitoring (SRM), in combination with stable isotope-labeled internal standards, have been examined as options for biomarker verification, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for validation.

A homologous series of azomethine esters,4-n-alkanoyloxybenzylidene-4＇-bromoanilines possessing even number of carbon atoms at the terminal alkanoyloxy chain（C_（n-1）H_（2n-1）COO- n = 8,10,12,14,16,18） was synthesized and *** n-octanoyloxy to n-dodecanoyloxy derivatives exhibited enantiotropic smectic A and smectic B phases,n-tetradecanoyloxy to n-octadecanoyloxy derivatives possessed enantiotropic smectic A and monotropic smectic B properties.n-Decanoyloxy derivatives demonstrated the optimum exhibition for both smectic A and smectic B *** was found that the length of terminal alkanoyloxy chain has an influence on mesomorphic properties.

A series of azomethine esters,3-hydroxy-4-{[（4-iodophenyl）imino]methyl}phenyl alkanoates possessing even number of carbon atoms at the terminal alkanoyloxy chain（C_（n-1）H_（2n-1）COO-,n = 4,6,8,10,12,14） was synthesized.n-Butanoyloxy was found non-mesogenic,whilst n-hexanoyloxy to n-tetradecanoyloxy exhibited enantiotropic smectic A phase with fan-shaped *** was found that the length of terminal alkanoyloxy chain influenced the mesomorphic properties.

Objective:To design a device to increase the accuracy of the targeting process and reduce the radiation exposure to both the patients and the medical ***:We analyzed the inherent problem and designed the External Assist Targeting Device(EATD)to assist in the alignment of needle targeting on the desired renal calyx under fluoroscopic *** EATD was designed to allow rapid and precise access to calyces at all angles,with a simple two-step puncture protocol developed for puncturing a target renal *** then tested the device in a pilot human trial with four ***:In experiments with phantom models,the time for successful targeting was reduced by 31%using the *** mean fluoroscopic time was reduced by 40%.In initial human trial,the puncture time was shortened by 66%and the radiation dose was decreased by 65%compared to free-hand *** complication was observed during the ***:The EATD was found to be cost effective,portable,simple to set up,and safe to operate for assisting in the percutaneous nephrolithotomy *** preliminary tests showed high degree of accuracy in gaining precise access to a targeted renal calyx with much shorter time and lesser radiation *** EATD also has the potential to be used to access other organs with precision under fluoroscopic guidance.

Global warming has been the subject of concern in today’s world with elevating temperature causing the melting of polar ice and increasing sea *** aim of this study was to investigate the physiological and photosynthetic performance of two polar Chlorella,namely Chlorella UMACC 250 and Chlorella UMACC 234 to elevating temperatures as might be experienced under future warming *** cultures were exposed to three different temperatures of 4℃,8℃and 12℃.The growth and photosynthetic activity were determined every 2 d for a period of 10 *** the end of the experiment,the cultures were harvested and analysed for biochemical *** Chlorella strains were able to tolerate higher temperatures than their ambient *** final pigments content showed an increasing trend with increased temperatures for both *** photosynthetic activities were measured using pulse-amplitude modulation(PAM)*** photosynthetic parameters including maximum quantum efficiency(Fv/Fm),maximum relative electron transport rate(r ETRmax),light harvesting efficiency(a)and photoadaptive index(Ek)were derived from the rapid light curves(RLCs).Both Chlorella strains showed a slight decline in growth and photosynthetic activities at the initial part of the ***,they showed the ability to recuperate with Chlorella UMACC 250 recovers better compared to Chlorella UMACC *** Chlorella strains showed similar trend in their carbohydrate content at 12℃,while the protein content of Chlorella UMACC 234 decreased when exposed to increasing *** results indicated that polar Chlorella are able to survive at increased temperatures throughout the experiment.

Gallstones are a common public health problem,especially in developed *** are an increasing number of patients who are diagnosed with gallstones due to increasing awareness and liberal use of imaging,with 22.6%-80% of gallstone patients being asymptomatic at the time of *** being asymptomatic,this group of patients are still at life-long risk of developing symptoms and complications such as acute cholangitis and acute biliary ***,while early prophylactic cholecystectomy may have some benefits in selected groups of patients,the current standard practice is to recommend cholecystectomy only after symptoms or complications *** reviewing the current evidence about the natural course of asymptomatic gallstones,complications of cholecystectomy,quality of life outcomes,and economic outcomes,we recommend that the option of cholecystectomy should be discussed with all asymptomatic gallstone *** of material information is essential for patients to make an informed choice for prophylactic *** is for the patient to decide on watchful waiting or prophylactic cholecystectomy,and not for the medical community to make a blanket policy of watchful waiting for asymptomatic gallstone *** patients with high-risk profiles,it is clinically justifiable to advocate cholecystectomy to minimize the likelihood of morbidity due to complications.

A low power 50Hz argon plasma for surface modification of polytetrafluoroethylene

The characteristics of a low power 50 Hz argon plasma for surface treatment of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)film is presented in this *** current–voltage behavior of the discharge and time-varying intensity of the discharge showed that a DC glow discharge was generated in reversed polarity at every *** discharge power between 0.5 and 1 W,the measured electron temperature and density were 2–3 eV and∼10^(8) cm^(−3),*** optical emission spectrum of the argon plasma showed presence of some‘impurity species’such as OH,N_(2) and H,which presumably originated from the residual air in the discharge *** exposure of PTFE films to the argon glow plasma at pressure 120 Pa and discharge power 0.5 to 1 W,the water contact angle reduced by 4%to 20%from the original 114°at pristine condition,which confirms improvement of its surface *** increase in wettability was attributed to incorporation of oxygen-containing functional groups on the treated surface and concomitant reduction in fluorine as revealed by the XPS analysis and increase in surface roughness analyzed from the atomic force *** upon storage in ambient air showed retention of the induced increase in surface wettability.
