Bischler-Napieralsk. cyclization has been successfully employed to prepare planar S,N-heteroacenes（SNHs） with the analogue structures to 1,10-phenanthroline. The opto-/electrical properties and the pack.ng modes of these S,Nheteroacenes were examined, which were dependent on the structure of the fused groups. SNH-based copolymers with high molecular weight and good solubility in common organic solvents or water have been synthesized by Suzuk.-MiyauraSchlüter polycondensation. The photophysical property studies revealed that the copolymers may be a promising chemosensor material.

-A low-energy (550 eV) argon-ion beamwith 0.5 mA/cm of current density was used tobombard the back.urface of polycrystalline-silicon-gate MOSFETs with various channeldimensions and MOS capacitors aftar the comple-tion of all conventional processing steps. Thelow-frequency noise characteristics of theMOSFETs were investigated. The results showedthat the I/f noise in the I inear region and thesaturation region can be clearly decreased.

This paper is to employ power law approach to discuss self-organized criticality and related dynamical features of power systems. We use two estimation algorithms called scaled window variance (SWV) and rescaled range statistical (R/S) to analyze the data of black.ut events during 1988-1997 of power systems in china. From the analysis we found that the data from 1994 to 1997 show the autocorrelation of the black.uts vs. time lags. Moreover, we find the power law distribution in black.ut probability vs. event size.

Antibiotic resistant bacteria(ARB)with antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)can reduce or eliminate the effectiveness of antibiotics and thus threaten human *** United Nations Environment Programme considers antibiotic resistance the first of six emerging issues of *** oxidation processes(AOPs)that combine ultraviolet(UV)irradiation and chemical oxidation(primarily chlorine,hydrogen peroxide,and persulfate)have attracted increasing interest as advanced water and wastewater treatment *** integrated technologies have been reported to significantly elevate the efficiencies of ARB inactivation and ARG degradation compared with direct UV irradiation or chemical oxidation alone due to the generation of multiple reactive *** this study,the performance and underlying mechanisms of UV/chlorine,UV/hydrogen peroxide,and UV/persulfate processes for controlling ARB and ARGs were reviewed based on recent *** affecting the process-specific efficiency in controlling ARB and ARGs were discussed,including biotic factors,oxidant dose,UV fluence,pH,and water matrix *** addition,the cost-effectiveness of the UV-based AOPs was evaluated using the concept of electrical energy per *** UV/chlorine process exhibited a higher efficiency with lower energy consumption than other UV-based AOPs in the wastewater matrix,indicating its potential for ARB inactivation and ARG degradation in wastewater *** studies are required to address the trade-off between toxic byproduct formation and the energy efficiency of the UV/chlorine process in real wastewater to facilitate its optimization and application in the control of ARB and ARGs.

Soluble Poly(propargyl benzoate) (PPBT) with pi -conjugated structure was synthesized using a novel bis(triphenylphosphine)-bisacetylide palladium complex catalyst [Pd(PPh3)(2)(C equivalent to CCH2OOCPh)(2)] (PPB). An interdigital gold electrode was covered by screen printing films of doped PPBT (DPPBT) to prepare a resistance-type humidity sensor, which exhibits electrical response towards relative humidity (RH%) variations in the range 11%-96%. PPBT shows promise as a new humidity-sensitive material.

Objectives:This study investigated the neural mechanisms of functional electrical stimulation(FES)on motor behaviors,synaptic ultrastructures and protein expression of synaptophysin in the penumbra of rats with cerebral infarction. Methods:Following surgery of middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO),SD rats were randomly allocated to FES,placebo or sham-operated *** evaluations were assessed at baseline and each time point described *** ultrastructures in the penumbra were observed under transmission electron microscope and protein expression levels of synaptophysin in the penumbra were also measured by Western blot. Results:Compared with the rats in placebo groups,rats in FES group exhibited a significantly improved functional performance in prehensile traction test at the time point of 7d and 14 d(Png time points. With prolonged treatment,the regressive ultrastructures of synapses in the penumbra of the infracted hemisphere of the rats in FES groups improved more mark.dly than that of placebo *** compared with the protein expression levels of synaptophysin in the penumbra of placebo group,the ones in FES group were up-regulated significantly at the time point of 3d,7d and 14d(Pcity in the penumbra of the rats with cerebral ischemia.

Aim: Hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP), an activity-dependent plasticity in synaptic transmission, is believed as a fundamental mechanism of learning and memory. This form of plasticity also exists in spinal dorsal horn. Our previous work.showed that electrical as well as natural noxious stimulation of afferent C-fibers or acute injury of the sciatic nerve produces LTP of C-fiber evok.d field potentials in spinal dorsal horn.
