Theoretical probe into universal tetrad effect for complexation discrepancy between lanthanide elements and organophosphoric extractant diethyl phosphoric acid

The deep understanding of 4f-correlated electron motion behavior is experimentally limited due to similar physicochemical properties of rare earth elements(REEs).While the solvent extraction behavior originating from the continuous occupation of 4f electrons along the lanthanide family provides a particular platform to probe the 4f electrons motion behavior and its correlations to their versatile functions.Herein,the complexation between REEs and the prototypical extractant of diethyl phosphoric acid(DEP)was substantially studied based on quantum mechanical calculation.The results firstly show that the average bond lengths between Ln and six coordinated oxygen atoms are consistent with lanthanide contraction phenomenon,and gadolinium break effect is also obviously observed.Secondly,the"tetrad effect"is figured out based on the subtle discrepancy of 4f electrons occupation,namely La-Nd,Sm-Eu,Gd-Dy and Ho-Lu.Specifically,the main composition is 4f5d6p for La-Nd,while the discrepancy is due to the increasing electrons in the 5d shell,while it is 4f5d for Pm-Eu.For Gd-Dy,their 4f orbitals accept little electrons and the donating electrons flow into 6s5d subshells due to the half-filled stability and the enhancement of shielding effect.The electrons donate into 5d6p subshells due to multiply electrons occupation of 4f orbitals for Ho-Lu.These detailed analyses obviously clarify the"tetrad effect"along the lanthanide family due to the different variation of 4f orbital occupation.It is expected that these microscopic understandings provide important guidance for the separation of REEs and the design of new extractants.

Objective: To investigate the current situation of social isolation among the elderly in the community, and to analyze its influencing factors. Methods: A total of 265 elderly people were selected to conduct the survey using the general information questionnaire and the Chinese version of the social isolation scale for the elderly. Results: The social isolation score of the elderly was (20.15 ± 0.23). Factors such as age, education level, economic status, and social participation ability influenced the social isolation score (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The social isolation of the elderly is more serious, and the social isolation can be alleviated by improving the level of education and the economic situation and strengthening social participation.

Sepsis is a lethal condition characterized by multiple organ dysfunction due to disrupted host responses to severe infections.[1]Aff ected patients often have a Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA)score≥2.[2]Patients with a SOFA score<2 and at least one of the following were considered as“suspected sepsis”:(1)quick SOFA(qSOFA)score≥2;(2)SOFA score=1;or(3)National Early Warning Score(NEWS)4-6.[3]Compared with studies on fluid resuscitation in sepsis patients,there are few studies on fluid management in patients with suspected sepsis.Therefore,we conducted a retrospective cohort study to evaluate the relationship between fluid management and disease progression in suspected sepsis patients.

Dynamic tracking of exsolved PdPt alloy/perovskite catalyst for efficient lean methane oxidation

Supported Pd based catalysts are considered as the efficient candidates for low-carbon alkane oxidation for their outstanding capability to break C-H bond. Whereas, the irreversible deactivation of Pd based catalysts was still frequently observed. Herein, we reinforced the extruded Pd nanoparticles with quantitive Pt to assemble the evenly distributed Pd Pt nanoalloy onto ferrite perovskite(Pd Pt-LCF) matrix with strengthened robustness of metal/oxide support interface. We further co-achieved the enhanced performance, anti-overoxidation as well as resistance of vapor-poisoning in durability measurement. The operando X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(O-XPS) combined with various morphology characterizations confirms that the accumulation of surface deep-oxidation species of Pd^(4+) is the culprit for fast activity loss in exsolved Pd system, especially at high temperature of 400 ℃. Conversely, it could be completely suppressed by in-situ alloying Pd with equal amount of Pt, which helps maintain the metastable Pd^(2+)/Pd shell and metallic solid-solution core structure. The density function theory(DFT) calculations further buttress that the dissociation of C–H was facilitated on alloy/perovskite interface which is, on the contrary, resistant toward O–H bond cleavage, as compared to Pd/perovskite. Our work suggests that the modification of exsolved metal/oxide catalytic interface could further enrich the toolkit of heterogeneous catalyst design.

Extraction and separation of yttrium from other rare earths in chloride medium by phosphorylcarboxylic acids

Two phosphorylcarboxylic acids,3-((bis(2-ethylhexyloxy))phosphoryl)propanoic acid(PPA) and 3-((bis(2-ethylhexyloxy))phosphoryl)-3-phenylpropanoic acid(PPPA),were synthesized for separating yttrium from other rare earths in the chloride feed of ion-adsorption type rare earth concentrate.The effect of the factors such as pH_(1/2),temperature,saponification degree and phase modifiers was investigated.The separation efficiencies of PPA and PPPA are obviously better than the typical extractants such as sec-octylphenoxy acetic acid(CA-12) and naphthenic acid(NA).The extraction process of rare earths by PPA and PPPA is a cation exchanging reaction,which is similar to those of CA-12 and NA.The loaded rare earths in both PPA and PPPA systems can be effectively back-extracted by 0.5 mol/L HCl or higher concentration.A cascade extraction process for separating yttrium from other rare earths was developed using PPPA as the extractant.The yttrium product with the purity of 97.20 wt% was obtained by 35 stages of extraction and 12 stages of scrubbing.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)is a fatal neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive degeneration of motor neurons,and it demonstrates high clinical heterogeneity and complex genetic architecture.A variation within TRMT2B(c.1356G>T;p.K452N)was identified to be associated with ALS in a family comprising two patients with juvenile ALS(JALS).Two missense variations and one splicing variation were identified in 10 patients with ALS in a cohort with 910 patients with ALS,and three more variants were identified in a public ALS database including 3317 patients with ALS.A decreased number of mitochondria,swollen mitochondria,lower expression of ND1,decreased mitochondrial complex I activities,lower mitochondrial aerobic respiration,and a high level of ROS were observed functionally in patient-originated lymphoblastoid cell lines and TRMT2B interfering HEK293 cells.Further,TRMT2B variations overexpression cells also displayed decreased ND1.In conclusion,a novel JALS-associated gene called TRMT2B was identified,thus broadening the clinical and genetic spectrum of ALS.

Correlation between imaging features on computed tomography and combined positive score of PD-L1 expression in patients with gastric cancer

Objective:To explore the correlation between computed tomography(CT)features and combined positive score(CPS)of programmed cell death ligand 1(PD-L1)expression in patients with gastric cancer(GC).Methods:This study reviewed an institutional database of patients who underwent GC operation without neoadjuvant chemotherapy between December 2019 and September 2020.The CPS results of PD-L1 expression of postoperative histological examination were recorded by pathology.Baseline CT features were measured,and their correlation with CPS 5 or 10 score groups of PD-L1 expression was analyzed.Results:Data for 153 patients with GC were collected.Among them,124 were advanced GC patients,and 29were early GC patients.None of the CT features significantly differed between CPS groups with a cutoff score of 5and a score of 10 in patients with early GC.In advanced GC,the presence of lymph nodes with short diameters>10mm was significantly different(P=0.024)between the CPS10 mm significantly differed between the CPSlite instability(MSI)status was significantly different in CPS groups with cutoff score of 5 and 10 in advanced GC patients.Conclusions:CT findings of advanced GC patients with CPS≥10 showed greater arterial phase enhancement and larger lymph nodes.CT has the potential to help screen patients suitable for immunotherapy.

Streamflow and flood forecasting remains one of the long-standing challenges in hydrology.Traditional physically based models are hampered by sparse parameters and complex calibration procedures particularly in ungauged catchments.We propose a novel hybrid deep learning model termed encoder-decoder double-layer long short-term memory(ED-DLSTM)to address streamflow forecasting at global scale for all(gauged and ungauged)catchments.Using historical datasets,ED-DLSTM yields a mean Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient(NSE)of 0.75 across more than 2,000 catchments from the United States,Canada,Central Europe,and the United Kingdom,highlighting improvements by the state-of-the-art machine learning over traditional hydrologic models.Moreover,ED-DLSTM is applied to 160 ungauged catchments in Chile and 76.9%of catchments obtain NSE>0 in the best situation.The interpretability of cross-region capacities of ED-DLSTM are established through the cell state induced by adding a spatial attribute encoding module,which can spontaneously form hydrological regionalization effects after performing spatial coding for different catchments.The study demonstrates the potential of deep leaning methods to overcome the ubiquitous lack of hydrologic information and deficiencies in physical model structure and parameterization.

A Fluorescein Derivative Chemosensor Combined with Triplet-Triplet Annihilation Upconversion System for Ratiometric Sensing of Cysteine

A derivative of fluorescein,fluorescein O,O-diacrylate(FODA),was utilized in a triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion(TTA-UC)system to develop a composite ratiometric chemosensor capable of detecting cysteine(Cys).FODA acted as both the probe for Cys and the energy acceptor for upconversion(UC)emission,thereby making UC a responsive signal to Cys.In addition,the phosphorescence signal of the sensitizer in the TTA-UC system remained constant and did not respond to Cys,making it an ideal internal reference signal for constructing a ratiometric sensor.Through this simple strategy,traditional fluorescent probes can be combined with TTA-UC system to establish a ratiometric sensing platform,which can be applied in more scenarios due to the longer wavelength excitation.
